I've never written a full trip report before, so we'll see how far this goes!
DW, DD5, and I left Friday morning. After a long, cold winter we were all ready for some fun in the sun. This was our 2nd Magic cruise. Last March we part of the "DCL Fire Cruise"- something we certainly didn't want to repeat!
A short 20 min drive to our local airport (Williamsport, PA/IPT) and we were on our way! Nice flights from IPT connecting in Pittsburgh, and on to Orlando. DD5 loved her surprise bag. DW always gets her a pack of crayons, activity book, stickers, etc to occupy her on the flights. Before we knew it we were in Orlando!
Since we're Avis Preferred we didn't have to stop at a desk, and wait in any lines. Just crossed the street, and took the elevator to the Avis level. We have had great luck with Avis Preferred. Everytime at MCO we have received an upgrade. After stopping to pick up our keys we were pleased to find a fully loaded Buick LeSabre with leather seats. I love leather seats! (Even in the dead of winter, or heat of summer).
On to Port Canaveral! Upon arrival at the Radisson, we were disappointed that we couldn't check in right away. Their computer system was down (and remained down through the next day). The Radisson is a nice property, but their front desk staff always seems to be in a state of confusion. We decided to drive to the Wynn Dixie in town to purchase water, and soda.
As we were ready to leave a Florida thunderstorm was putting on quite a show! I kept thinking if all of that rain were snow, there would be two feet of snow to shovel!!!
As we proceeded back to the Radisson, we came upon "The Perfect Gift, owned by Shirley & Norm. We decided to go in and meet these "famous DISers". They are two of the nicests folks you would ever want to meet! They made us feel at home. Even DD5, who never goes to strangers made instant friends!
At one point DW & I looked up and wondered where Shirley & DD5 went. Seems they walked over to the "Fairy Fountain" where DD5 made a "secret wish". (The "secret fairy" told me about the wish, and Daddy had to scurry about Cocoa Beach that evening in order to make that wish come true! LOL )The following night when we came back to our room after dinner aboard ship DD5 started jumping up and down, and excitedly yelling, "My wish came true! My wish came true! Tinkerbell must have left it for me!". A cute stuffed elephant was sitting on our table. Thanks Shirley & Norm. It was a magical moment I'll never forget.
Back to the Radisson, where we were able to check in. The jacuzzi suite was nice...but don't even think about trying to sleep on the fold out sofa bed. After a nice dinner next door at Kelsey's (chicken marsala, fettucine alfredo, and kids' menu) we returned to our room. DD5 wanted to go swimming, but on and off again rain suggested otherwise. Good thing we had a jacuzzi in our room! That made us all happy. Time to go to sleep, and dream of our upcoming Magic!
