I decided to do a girls trip in Sept with a friend, and I am getting the free dining package with the Magic you Package. So we are have our hotel, and we purchased 6 day park hopper tickets. My question is, can I take that 6 day park hopper ticket, and pay the different and get an AP, using my DVC ID, at the DVC AP rate?

Yes. Once you get the MYW ticket, it is yours to do with as you choose. That would include taking it to Guest Relations and doing an upgrade to an AP or PAP. Since you are a DVC member, you can get a discount on the AP/PAP price.

I wouldn't count on it. Some have reported getting refunds from upgrades (using DVC discount), but I believe the official policy is no cash refunds. Apparently, it depends on the CM and how well they know/follow/ have been trained on the ticketing policies..

Hmm.. so it would be better to just purchase on one day MYW pass, then upgrade it to an AP.

Then we would have to pay the remainder due, and they wouldn't be giving up any money back

Carol, are you absolutely sure of this? Since MYW is a package, I wouldn't think you could trade out part of it. We used to do the Gold plan under its different names, and our room keys, admission, meals, entertainment and recreation were all "on" the card.

I'm sure - GoldenOldie (resident DIS expert on tickets) has posted that the rules changed with the advent of the new MYW tickets. If you so a search for some of her posts, you'll see the ones that say you can.

It is true that until MYW, package tickets could not be upgraded. They can now.

Just be sure to have the info with you on the DVC cost of the tickets, since all CMs don't know this. Also, reimbursement may change from window to window, so if you have a price that you think it should be, and the CM gets a different price, you can go to a different window. Upgrading cost for me from an AP to a PAP changed from $320 to $20 depending upon which CM I went to.

There is definately no consistancy about how much tickets cost to upgrade or how much they "think" they cost you. We were upgrading MYW passes to not expire and were given at least 6 different prices. It was explained to us that the pricing can be different based on where and when you buy them. Bring your receipts with you to make sure you dont get ripped off.
