Good morning all. I was wondering if anyone could give me some info regarding your expirence with the dining plan. I'm looking at 12/06 and it would add about 1000.00 to the total cost. Is it worth it or did you find that you still ended up spending alot of extra money on food. Also a little off the subject, if I want tickets to MVMCP how do I get those?

Thanks everyone

PS: How do I get rid of all that junk at the bottom of my post??

We did not spend extra money on food at all, really, except an occasional beer for dh. We were VERY stuffed all the time. LOL
If you do a lot of sit down dinners usually, it is well worth it. If you eat cheap usually, it will let you eat better, but it might cost you a lot more. Some like the convenience of being able to pre-pay all their meals. Check out the FAQ about the Dining Plan on the Restaurant board.

MVMCP is available through the Disney phone place (like where you make ressies) I do believe.

To get rid of your post junk, go to User CP up on tool bar above, and edit your signature. You should be able to delete all of that. If you were trying to do a countdown, then go to the technical board to see how to do it.

Have a great day!

We went in October/November and we enjoyed the Dining Plan, it was great. There was two of us and we ate at Chef Mickey's, California Grill, 50s Prime Time, Crystal Palace, LE Cellier and Chefs De France. We got our moneys worth, at Cali grill our bill for two was 154.98. We did spend a little extra money, because I paid OOP for Crystal Palace becasue that was a day that I had a late dinner and wanted a breakfast also. I think we spent arounf 150.00 OOP. You must try it!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the reply disneymom5 and disneymagic02. Sounds like somethimg I
should think about more!! I love the planning stage!

We just returned from our trip and had the Dining Plan. It was worth the money. We would "save" about $50-$75 each day from our eating had we paid out of pocket.

The food is great, and it is well worth it in my opinion.

The problem we had was with snacks. Our son would want something that wasn't on the snack plan (a pretzel or some other item). So, we spent a little bit extra on snacks, but not that much.

We also found that 4 people could easily share 3 meals whether it was counter service or table service, except at buffets.

But, we would generally rack up receipts of $175-$200 per day for the $115 we paid.

We loved the dining plan. We were there in October. On previous trips we had always paid out of pocket and always used counter service and still worried about how much we were spending. This trip we had no worries because it was all prepaid. We ate better/ healthier meals and enjoyed our trip so much more, because we were relaxed. We have already booked the DP for our next trip.

We went in October, used the plan for seven days and saved $256. This was for 2 adults and one child. Because DD5 wanted to see the characters, we used the plan for a character meal almost every day. If you're not going to eat a sit-down meal every day, it might not be worth it. We never had any problem using the plan for any snack we wanted, although it was so hot and sticky out we ususally used the snack credits for water and ice cream. If they're still offering the plan in 2007, when we plan to return, it will be a major factor in deciding if we stay in a Disney resort or if we stay at the Dolphin, where they don't offer it.

I loved the Dining Plan. It was so nice to try new things and new restaurants. We normally would not order appetizer and dessert, but it was so nice to splurge a little on vacation, okay splurge a lot!!!! We ended up saving almost $300 for what we ate. DH and I were talking about how it was so nice to be prepaid. If we hadn't had DP we would be pinching every penny, eating mostly CS, sharing drinks, getting the cheapest entree. This was vacation and we loved every calorie of it!!

I ordered my MVMCP over the phone and they sent them to me, I believe you have the option of picking them up also.

Just got back form Thanksgiving Week, used the dining plan. We did many more sit downs than we would have otherwise. 4 Char Meals, CRT for Thanksgiving Dinner and Chefs de France twice. For the 5 of us, we easily saved $300.

I think I'm the only one who doesn't like it. I had to plan our meals so that we eat 12 sit-downs and 12 counter-services. If you don't do it just right, you end up having to pay for an extra and waste what you bought.

I just thought it was a big pain in the neck. I have no idea if we would've saved money doing whatever we would have done without it, because once you buy it, you're kinda locked in.

So, I won't be doing it again.

But that's just me. :earsboy:
