Hello DISers!

I am so excited to be getting back on the Magic! We haven't cruised in two years so I'm trying to brush up on the details and would love some guidance from my experts here. Our first cruise was on the Magic in 2012 so we are excited to see the updates.

We are on a 6 night Western on the Magic from Miami. Any idea what the dining rotations may be? Will Pirate Night be swapped out for a special NYE celebration?

We are traveling with my in laws who will be in a HA room (7636) as my FIL is on compressed oxygen 24-7 and will need special assistance. Any suggestions? I will also check the DISabilities Board.

I know of the new alcohol policy, so we will follow those guidelines. DH would usually only bring a small bottle of bourbon, so that sounds like it's not allowed any more?

My girls will be 9 and 11 - and my 11 year old will want to try the Edge for the first time. But I think she will also want to spend some time in the Lab with her sister. Can she do both?

We've been to Cozumel and GC before, so I will try and find excursions that will suit my in laws. My FIL may not want to bother with the tender to GC, so we'll see where their comfort level lies. We've done Nachi Cocom and Salsa & Salsa in Cozumel, I think I'd go to Nachi again but not S&S. Did a private snorkel tour in GC with Nativeway and we really enjoyed them.

I am thinking Castaway may be too cold to swim, so that might be a good day to book a spa treatment for myself :)

Any tips and suggestions are welcome! TIA!

Michele

We traveled to the Western Caribbean on the Magic last December. My oldest was twelve and wanted to participate in the Marvel activities in Oceaneers with his younger sisters, but also wanted to try out Edge. So, we registered him for Oceaneers and he made choices daily about which club to attend based on activity options. He could even start at Oceaneers and check out when the desired activity ended and head to Edge. He carried a wave phone to keep us posted when he switched locations.

In Cozumel, we took the Fury Catamaran excursion. Our whole crew (mom, dad, 12, 11, 7) loved it. It includes the boat ride, snorkeling, and private beach fun (inflatables, kayaks, slides, loungers, hammocks, beds). Some people opted to skip the snorkel portion and watch from the boat. Since it's only a half day excursion, we walked around port for the morning and shopped for the other half of the day.

We were at Castaway Cay on December 17. The water was cold, but our family still enjoyed swimming and snorkeling (as did most other people). I also ran the 5K with two of my kids.

I'm not sure how the special assistance works, but my middle child had medical needs. When I registered her for kids club, I was given a link to a medical form that I then had to print, fill out and mail in to receive assistance.

I hope some of that helps.

There will probably be both NYE party and Pirate party. However, there will only be fireworks on one night.

Hard liquor is no longer allowed to be brought onboard, only wine and/or beer.

Yes, the 11 year old can participate in both the Lab and Edge clubs.

We are booked on this cruise too. Assuming the fireworks will be in NYE, right? Would be a real bummer not to have them NYE and then have them do it a random night for pirate night!

That's all very helpful--thank you!

Thank you. That's what I thought about hard liquor. Not a big deal, but good to know ahead of time.
