Day at sea
Well, we ALL slept in until 10:30both kids too! The benefit of an inside stateroom! Eventually we got up, got dressed and headed up for a late breakfast. Luckily topsiders was serving breakfast until 11:00. It was really windy, and my husband said he was woken up during the night because of the boat rocking. I felt nothing, slept like a baby. Because of the wind, we carried our breakfast closer to the pool area where we would be shielded from the wind, a little.
After breakfast, we headed out to walk along deck 4. DS13 headed back to the arcade. Feeling guilty, I decided to walk a couple miles. DS9 wanted to go with me, and DH said he would sit on one of the nice padded chairs and watch us. After a couple laps, DS9 stopped to play shuffleboard with someone. While I did my laps, he played, and finished about the same time I did.
I will say that I felt very safe letting the kids out of my sight to run to the room or play shuffleboard. There were always crewmembers around doing their jobs, and crewmembers keeping their eyes on what was going on. I never worried about letting the kids run to get their ice cream or snacks without me.
After walking, I went down to shower and by that time everyone was ready for lunch. I kept to fruit while the rest got a regular lunch. We decided to go to the matinee of Disney Dreams so that we could catch the Haunted mansion after dinner. The show was wonderful, but my favorite was still Hercules!
Today was the last day for bingo and my DH decided that he would play. He paid the $35 fee for a set of cards. DS9 went into help, and I carried my book and made myself comfortable. The first two games were over in a matter of minutes, and I was thinking of the wasted money. The last game, all the numbers in a card had to be punched out. All of a sudden DH jumps up screaming BINGO!! Turns out he and two others shared the jackpot of over $6000! It was pretty amazing! I was so shocked I couldnt believe it! Disney was very careful and checked that the cards were purchased for that game, and you had to claim your win on the very last number called. After verifying that we were indeed winners they carried us down to guest services and paid everyone in CASH, tax free!
(Well, after that, I bought a couple extra pins and a shirt from Castaway Cay.) By now its getting close to dinner, so we head down and get dressed. We were back in Parrot Cay for the Captains Gala dinner.
After dinner we headed for the movie the Haunted Mansion. DH bought everyone drinks and a snackthe big spender. Usually I had everyone get drinks from Topsiders drink station before the show.
Afterwards, we headed back to the room, ordered room service. Tonight was the Desert Buffet at 11:15. DH fell asleep, as did DS9 who wanted to go. DS13 wasnt interested, so I was beginning to think Id go by myself. DH did wake up in time and we headed up to Lumieres. There was already a line at 11:10. And even when they opened the doors, the line moved very slowly. So get there early, because the line was extremely long when we got through the line.
Inside, the buffet was gorgeous! Everything was beautiful. The only problem I had was I didnt know what anything was. Plus everything seemed to have big slices. So by the time we left, our plates were a mile high. A lot of things were delicious, but some of the items were not to my liking. I think if there were labels, I might have made better choices. It was the one thing I wasnt overly impressed with. The setup was beautiful and elegant, but many of the deserts looked just alike. The desert I liked best was a small key lime tart, but was too lazy/embarrassed to go back for more of them. Many items I didnt even finish after the first bite. Honestly, Im not sure I would stay awake for the buffet next time we go. But you do need to go at least once just to see how nicely they set up the food and all the sculptures. I took some really nice pictures of the buffet, and they turned out really well.
After stuffing ourselves, we fell into bed.
