Magic vs. Mariner

Just an FYI for those in the Northeast. RCCL will be keeping the Explorer of the Seas year round now out of New Jersey.
People traveling during peak times because of their kids school schedule may want to consider this.

I just checked out the February 2008 sailing. 9 nights. but only one week of work missed and no pre night or airfare. Leaves on a Friday night and returns the following Sunday morning.

I'll report about the Explorer next August when I return.

I just booked for February 15 2008 on the Explorer, the kids will only miss 1 day of school, and we can drive there. We are going on the magic this coming February, so it will be interesting to compare the 2.

WAY TO GO  I feel like if I don't book NOW then I will miss out. The cruise we are sailing on next August 2007 we booked in May at the time of booking there was plenty of rooms available, and there are currently NO cabins available for 4 people. We booked connecting Promenade rooms anyway (we wanted 2 rooms) but we paid $4,200 total for 2 rooms on a 9 night cruise and now it is $7,100 and we are still just less than a YEAR away.

Oh the pressure LOL

The explorer is very very similar to the Mariner, we first thought about going on the mariner, we could book a cruise on the Mariner for about $1,800 less than the Magic, then realized that the Explorer was leaving out of NJ and jumped on it, the cost is higher than the Mariner, but it is for 2 more nights, and we do not have to travel, we can drive there in 4 hours.

Guess you have to figure in the cost for Flying.. that would bring the price down a bit.

PLUS the cost of a pre night stay, and food with that pre night stay
