OK the suspense is killing me...the first pax should be getting on the MAGIC for the special 3 day cruise....we need reports and pictures NOW !!!:badpc:

A little anxious, maybe :rotfl2:

I heading for the Magic on Saturday and a few of our DIS friends on our cruise extended to include this special 3-day when it came out. I'm hoping they will post on our 7-day thread as we are all anxious to find out what was done.

We are on the bus heading to the port now! Can't wait to see the upgrades and will post asap!

Any live reports from the Magic will be found on the Cruise Trip Reports forum. :)

Ok, the green Goofy pool, the yellow water in the toilet and the worn walkways on the upper decks do look bad...

But seriously, some of those pictures of scratches and stuff in the room...if that's how you're spending your cruise, trade places with me and I'll go on a cruise, and you can be here on dry land! :lmao:

I get it though, it is expensive, but the money's already spent, so try to enjoy yourself! :goodvibes

Like Lisa said on the reports board...I would rather have working engines too! LOL :rotfl:

But...we pay for the Disney Difference. This just does not seem up to par with Disney Standards so it bums me out.

No, I totally get it, and you're absolutely right!

As someone that works in the service industry, though, I have had experience with folks spending more time finding what's wrong than enjoying what's been done right. I don't know that there was a guarantee anywhere that any particular thing would have been done during this dry dock, so to be disappointed that they didn't do everything you would expect seems a little misplaced. In two weeks, there's only so much they can do!

It is a shame, though, that folks are considering taking their business elsewhere, which is what really makes this a shame for DCL.

after seeing the pictures I still wouldn't take my business elsewhere, it just seemed like small things really, besides the pool, but I'm sure that will be better in no time:goodvibes

Now that's the spirit! :woohoo: Glad to hear someone else isn't totally turned off by it.

But realize that DCL made the decision to shorten the dry dock to 2 weeks.

For those of you on the ship having issues with your staterooms, please make a note of it on your comment cards. My DH and I noted the horrible mattress we had in our stateroom. I was on the following cruise across the hall and happen to come out when the director was talking to the SR host, and he said ask her she was in the room. I told him the the mattress was very saggy as well as the room I was in currently. They wound up replacing both of them.

I was really disappointed when DCL announced that dry dock was being shortened. They already had that time blocked off the schedule, so why not use it to make needed improvements?

It seems like there are always complaints about work that should ideally be done without passengers onboard that is started before dry dock, or finished afterwards. So why not keep the ship out of rotation as already scheduled and get more done without inconveniencing passengers?

I can't imagine the revenue from this special 3 day cruise is going to make or break the bottom line for DCL. Of course given the reports coming back, I don't know that 3 days would have gotten things in the condition many of us were expecting either.

I thought our stateroom was looking pretty shabby last time we cruised, and that was many, many trips ago.

I could have sworn I had read something about DCL planning on changing out bedding, but maybe it was just wishful thinking on my part. I thought our bedspread was positively shabby last cruise and yes, we did make note of that on our comment card.

AGREED!:thumbsup2
DCL costs more and people should expect more. Not to mention DCL ALSO thinks you should expect more. The Disney Difference as they say. They know what people are paying for and expect. It is what you SHOULD expect with a Disney cruise.

I feel sorry for the people who are on this cruise and for what they are getting for their full price fairs.
There is no excuse for the pools not being ready. That is a SMALL thing to have ready. I am more understanding about the rooms than the pools. ICK! The Mickey Pool is just disgusting looking! http://www.flickr.com/photos/7510475@N07/2886178875/in/set-72157607471991204/

I don't see what the problem is. To me the pictures look AMAZING. ok, so I have never been on DCL before and my cruise still is year away, but these were the first pictures I really got to see of some details and it just gets more excited.
Yes, we pay a premium for DCL, but that's doesn't mean luxury all the way. It means bigger rooms, split bathrooms, better shows, better staff etc. It does not mean 5 star accommodations everywhere on the ship. Plus did you stop and think that they shortened the dry dock because they realized that somethings could be done while the ship is at port, giving the people more opportunity to cruise? You think they can't swap out a whole floor of mattresses between when passengers disembark and the next set get on. Have you ever seen how fast and organized the CM's can be. Just because the dry dock is over, it does not mean the changes are all done.

Sorry things weren't so perfect for you and didn't live up to expectations, but it was the first sailing after dry dock. Would you rather them have realized that they weren't finished and a week before you left they canceled your cruise and just gave you your money back? I don't think so.

From what I know, a Disney cruise in a worn out, interior room, is still a better vacation then going on any other cruise line. I'll take whatever improvements they make and I'll be happy.

NEVER go on a cruise right after a drydock! EVER! There are still to many kinks to work out.

If you do, remember that a drydock is also a work in process. A lot of work is still being done weeks afterward.

We were on the 5 night cruise prior to dry dock and we were told by various cast members that the crew quarters would out of action during dry dock and that everybody who would would stay would be moved to the staterooms. Add to that the staggering amount of contactors that we saw going on board while we were waiting for our shuttle and it is hard to see how they could have done much work on the staterooms.
We did not think that the Magic needed much doing to it at all. The only area that we thought looked a bit tired was the adult pool deck. Other than that she seemed to be in great shape. We can't wait to go back in just over a year's time.

We are Magic's 5th voyage after drydock. Hopefully all kinks are worked out by then.
