Evening all,

I posted this question a while ago and cannot find it using the search engines.

Has anyone heard or know of what the good enighbour hotels will do with guests arriving on the magic in May 2008?

I cannot imagine that Disney would not have something laid on, as we are getting disney transportation from HoJos to LAX after our stay..

I know it's only 257 days until we leave for our 'trip of a lifetime' but i would love to get this part hammered out and not have to worry about it

Im confused by your question. What do you mean by "laid something on" and is there some significance to May 08 that they'll be doing something? I'd love to help you by the way, so just clarify for me and I'll do my best to answer.

The Magic is scheduled to arrive in LA on May 25th, 2008 with a few thousand Disney mad travellers, some of which are bound to be staying at the good neighbour hotels to see the 'other Disney'. I have been checking and there is nothing official 'laid on' for those guests. It just seems like there should be...

Disney doesn't have a transportation service on the west coast. Your travel agent most likely booked you vouchers to use for Super Shuttle or another comparable Anaheim-area to LAX service. The vouchers are available as an add-on to all the DL packages, but aren't "Disney transportation" in the way that Disney provides transportation at WDW, for example.

I'd be surprised if Disney does anything at the Good Neighbor hotels. There may be something at the parks, but I wouldn't expect anything at the area hotels.

Like BrerMama said there isn't any Disney Transportation. I'd probably be looking in to things like car rentals or maybe a shuttle bus in the area that can pick you up (or even cab rentals).

what is "the magic" ?
what time in May 08 is this going to be?
Does it mean MORE people than normal being there at that time?

((We are planning a late April/or any time in May trip there)

Magic is one of Disney's Cruise Ships. Usually they are in the Atlantic ocean off the Florida Coast, But in the spring they offer a Special sailing thru the Panama Canal to the Pacific Ocean off California. Then ship out to points along the Mexican Coast. After being docked off California for 2 or 3 months they sail back thru the the Panama Canal to their home port.

I'm not sure how many people fill a cruise ship, but I do know these ocean to ocean cruises sell out fast and it is a full ship. And All those people are going to descend on DL and DCA in May 2008!! It will also fill the hotels to capacity, and crowd the 2 parks!!

You should check the arrival dates of the Magic, and and change you dates to a less crowded time of year.

It does turn out there is a Disneyland Express, which like the WDW Magic Express version is not owned by Disney, but is contracted to provide transportation for Disney Guests. That is what my TA booked us on from HoJos to LAX.
It seems that a lot of people do not realize that a Disney Cruise ship will be arriving on May 25th and will be doing cruises up and down the coast all summer.
What will they do when one of the Disney ships is stationed out west permanently

I think it's the West Coast arrival of one of the Cruise ships. What "Laid On" means I am not sure. (travel lingo of some kind ???)

I think what the poster is asking, is, "if the Magic cruise ship arrives and a whole bunch of cruise ship guests want to stay someplace by the park, will Disney offer up some sort of Good Neighbor hotel deal and if I want to visit the park at the same time will I be out of luck??" (whew) No idea book early so you have something and if you find a better deal later cancel what you have.

Hi there,

DCL (Disney Cruise Line) will offer transportation that will go from the ship to a Disneyland Resort hotel and to either LAX or Orange County Airport, or from the Airport to the hotel to the ship (3 legs).

If I remember correctly, in 2005, the land/sea packages that were offered only went to one of the three official Disneyland Resort hotels, and not to one of the Good Neighbor hotels. I expect that the 2008 cruises will offer the same thing.

Mary Jo,

Thanks for answering my question. I did not think it was that difficult a question to answer.

It just seems odd to me, that since I booked my good neighbour hotel through Disney, booked my transportation to LAX from HoJos through Disney, that Disney would have arranged (laid on) something to get people from Los Angeles to the DL group of hotels (DL and good neighbour)

I guess we have been spoiled by what is available at WDW

I tried to add this last night but it was lost.

This is one of the BEST maps of the DL area, it is very accurate, for hotel placement and restaurant placement. This is really important when every hotel in 5 miles of DL claims to be across from the entrance to DL!

Was HoJo part of your package deal?

Back in 2005 when the Magic was in LA, I too stayed at a Good Neighbor Hotel close to DL but there was no offered transportation from the Good Neighbor Hotel to the port. We took a taxi to a Disneyland Hotel from our Good Neighbor Hotel and then hopped on (pre-arranged and paid for in advance) the Disney bus to the port.

We decided against staying at any of the DL resorts because of the cost. I researched the good neighbour hotels, and mentioned HoJos to our TA, who was able to book the hotel and get a DL package with it. (including the DE bus to LAX after our stay.

I would rather get a bus to HoJos rather than rent a car or take a cab...just a better feeling of safety and security, if you know what i mean

It looks like we will have to find alternative means of getting from LA to HoJos.

Does anyone know of a 'very good' limo company that would meet my requirements (along the lines of Happy Limo or *********** in Orlando)?

I can't wait to hear all the WDW vets (from the cruise ship) comment about the pretty little pink castle. :rotfl:

hound - popcorn::

You mean the one I grew up waching every Sunday night in Halifax.....cannot wait

However the rumours about a major redesign of DL has me a bit worried:confused3
