It seems to me that the best things about WDW are the magic secret places away from the crowds. My favorite place is simply taking the boat ride from the Contempory resort to fort wilderness' (usually going to hoop dee doo) beach on a warm evening. You can still feel the energy from the magic kingdom while standing on the sands at fort wilderness. The trip is almost as fun as the show.

Much of the magic is the spontanious situations of sheer joy.

Can any of you share your special places?

Outside the top of the Contemporary to watch fireworks over Cinderella's castle...

The boatride from Port Orleans to Downtown Disney...

Sitting in front of the monorail at nighttime and doing the 'loop'...

Sitting on top of Main Street Station and overlooking Main Street...

Swimming in the Grand Floridian Resort pool after midnight...

..ah....thanks for that - great, now I need a WDW fix!!

you two sound like my kind of vacationers! now i want to head down there and find some new special places.

Riding the monorail-just for fun!

Watching the fireworks at MK from the dock at GF.

The Campfire and movies at Wilderness Campgrounds.

Sitting in GF at Christmas time, just looking at that tree.

The walkway behind Space Mountain! I love it there.
Waaaaaa! I wanna go now!

Getting an ice cream sundae from Ghiradelli's and sitting outside watching the Epcot fireworks (at least I think it's Epcot's)

Having breakfast outside at the Boardwalk, but my very favorite is staying put after Illuminations, then walking thru the countries, taking our time leaving.

When we take a walk to find our brick. It's off to the right of the MK heading toward the GF. The pathway is so close to the action, yet it seems so far. It's very, very peaceful right near the sand and the water. I'm glad I discovered it. :D

These are fun to read.

It's not a secret place by any means, but I love walking through World Showcase when no one is around, right away in the morning.

We had a PS for Spoodles and they let us walk through an empty World Showcase to get to the Boardwalk. It was so beautiful.

The World Showcase is also lovely just after it opens. Sitting in a deserted cafe, I can watch the worlds come alive while planning out the rest of the day.

Sigh. Wish I was going again this year.

Sitting in the Fountain View Cafe when it's not busy.

Taking a canoe out at FW. Very peaceful.

Staying late after Illuminations and having WS to yourself.

On of the upstairs sitting areas at Wilderness lodge.

The Main Street train station to watch the kiss goodnight

I have nothing to add, these all sound wonderful. You all are taking me back! Thanks.

Last time I was there we stayed at BWV. At night, after the kids were asleep we'd sit out on the deck which over looked the pool and the Swan and Dolphin. It was absolutely perfect. You could hear the music from the Boardwalk but it wasn't loud, just nice back ground music (although they overplayed the Tarzan soundtrack a bit!;) ) Then sometime around midnight the lights and fountains would slowly start to go off over at the Swan and Dolphin. It was so peaceful, so relaxing...absolutely the best way to end any day!:sunny:

Most of our favorites have been mentioned....especially the slow walk around a nearly deserted World Showcase after Illuminations with the torches lit and sparkling off the water....ahhhh.....

One of our favorites that hasn't been mentioned is in Liberty Square in the Magic Kingdom. If you're facing the outside of the Hall of Presidents and you go to the right along that building, you'll come to a porch with two white rocking chairs on it. Hubby and I often take a break in these rockers while the kids (teenagers) run off to ride Haunted Mansion.

My favorite is not a secret but I felt alone, sitting on our balcony early in the morning at the AKL. Watching the Giraffes eat their breakfast and watching the hot air balloons in the sky. I don't know where the balloons were from but they were floating in the sky every morning. It was very peaceful.

Petting the ponies at FW (too big to ride them)!

Taking one of the smaller boats across Bay Lake/Seven Seas Lagoon at night.

Sitting in the hot tub at the Beach Club after a long day of parking...AAH! Also liked sitting on the beach there at night.

Sitting on the patio bar (voodoo lounge??) at The House of Blues eating shrimp and having a beer.

People watching....ANYWHERE! My DH has a wicked sense of humor and let's face it....some people just don't look in the mirror before they go out!

Getting a bowl of chowder at the bar at Fulton's on a cold day!

Watching the castle change colors from your tower bed room at the Contemporary.

Having room service breakfast on ANY balcony in the World.

I could go on and on....three months and counting!

Another vote for strolling around World Showcase after Illuminations. I usually hum along with the music as it plays. Listening to the CD always reminds me of that and gives me goosebumps.

A lot of the time we will sit and watch the big musical fountain one last time on our way out of Epcot too. Since we take so long getting out of World Showcase, the park is almost empty by then.

Watching the MK fireworks from the Poly beach. Shortly after I started dating DH, my parents and I went on our annual WDW trip. I talked to DH each night, usually from the beach because it was quiet. I'd watch the castle in its nightime glory and even catch the fireworks sometimes.

In May we stayed at Coronado Springs for the first time. Each night, we would let our little one unwind at the playground, and then go for a walk all around the lake. It was beautiful stopping to rest on the hamocks (sp?) and looking up at the millions of stars in the sky. It sounds soo corny, but it really was a magical way to end each day.

Wilderness Lodge - as mentioned sitting in one of the upstairs sitting areas
WL - flag family
many fond memories from the WL Oct 01 - looking forward to many more - hopefully Oct 04
