Magic or Fantasy ?

I would choose the Eastern cruise on the Fantasy. I will also never cruise without a verandah again. Period. I personally think the 5E verandahs are the best fleet-wide. We totally ditch St Thomas and book it over to St John immediately (hope to spend a week in St John next summer in between our cruises)!!! Its our favorite port. I've been on the Fantasy three times (and I did not like the Dream). Although big, she's great :) You will not be disappointed.

Now, I'm a classic ship girl. In 8 cruises, we've done 1/2 on the classics, 1/2 on the new ships. The Magic is my fave ship. That being said, inthis case, price trumps, as does destination & I will typically always choose an eastern over a western. Personal preference.

I wish we had the option to take Eastern on the Fantasy, that would be a gimmie I think, but alas, Fantasy is the Western and Magic is the Eastern ( altho I know nothing is ever written into stone.)

Does that change things?

There is something pulling me in both directions, but the idea of saving over $400 to cruise interior on the Magic is really appealing. Other days the excitement of the Fantasy is.

Are their any possibilities of upgrading to a veranda at a later date? Or is that risky becuase you have to pay the higher price if it goes up?

Are there any concerns about booking the Magic as cheaply as possible for now to get the 10% booked before it expires in 2 weeks, and then possibly changing over to the Fantasy at a later date?

Another caveat is that Twinkie's hubby just really acts like he doesn't want to go, and normally she bunks with us, but my hubby doesn't want to share the cabin this time (and that is certainly his choice) but it means that Twinkie has to find a new cabin mate and it might be too pricey for the cabin mate to do the veranda, even if it isn't THAT much more...

So an interesting developement...

Twinkie says husband may go if we combine a Land and Sea trip and make the cruise a 4 day.

In which case, it will be happily back to Blue Lagoon and CC and the Dream (and hopefully Mihayl) again along with a few days at Disney.

And with less cruise fare, it will definitely be Verandas all around for the Dreamers...

You lock in current prices when you book so if you book an inside now and decide to upgrade later, the upgrade price will be the same as it is today not what it will be when/if you decide to upgrade. This is assuming the category you want is still available.

Never mind, it looks as though you have it all worked out. ;)

Yes. Eastern on Magic would be my choice then. You lock in prices in all categories when you book, so you could upgrade later.

Changing to the Fantasy (or and ship for that matter) later is tough since prices rise.

I can't help on this one. I'm in the 'no cruise shorter than 7-nights' anymore camp. That, plus I'm a local, so parks + 4 night is not something we'd do. I'm a day-trip-only park kinda gal, as I do not view WDW as any type of vacation LOL. A relaxing cruise? Oh yes - THAT is a vacation ;)

I agree! I'm hoping I can still talk him in to a 7 day. Either way, I gotta book something, and if a 4 Day is it, I'll take it.

I hope one day I can be a local too! (Or even across the coast towards P'cola, closer to where we used to be and also still FLR!)

Been a Tampa resident since April 2007. Left Ohio without looking back. Best decision of my life for many reasons.

Discounts and close proximity just make it sweeter ;)

Good luck!!

Though I like the Fantasy 10x more than the Dream, the Magic winds hands down in my opinion.

Ok Guys, New development!

I REALLY wanted to try the Magic and Twinkie husband says only a 4 day. So I decided to check spring, and I found a 4 day for the same price 2 days away from our anniversary (and hers is a week prior) and I get to have my cruise on the Magic afterall! Better yet, I may not have to wait until November!?

I'm excited, I just am drawn to the Magic and I can't explain it, but I wanted to try new restaurants, new shows, 'new' Disney ship.

Everyone in the family seems very happy about the change!!!

I also got my rewards card in the mail, so booking will be either this week or next!!!!!!!

:cheer2:

Magic! Magic!

ps. if wishes were hopes and hopes were dreams, I could still make a B2B out of the Magic 7 Day if I (more like hubby) wanted!

I'm sure I'm not the only one shopping different dates and ships. ;) altho I'll admit I'm a bit all over the place! But its hard to coordinate 4 different families in 3 different states! When I get it nailed down next week, there will be major real celebrating then!

Understand fully, sometimes it's like herding cats... But it will be worth it.

YAY MAGIC FOR YOU!!!

By the way my answer would have been always verandah!!!!!

Mom asked if "Johnny Depp" (as she put it) will be making an appearance on the Magic next spring. Is that only on the Dream?

Aye! On pirate night.

But we ARE confirming that Sparrow is on the Magic -not just Dream or Fantasy-(obviously for pirate night.) I know some if the ships feature different pirate shows (something about a zipline or something.) She will be happy to know that he will also be on the Magic next spring.

Yes, captain jack does appear on the classic ships, but I'm not sure if he's in the pirate night show.
