We have cruised on the Wonder one time and on the Dream four times. This spring we may have the opportunity during a week where there is only one departure day difference between the Magic and Dream. The cost is a little less on the Magic. So, I'm wondering, based on 4 years in a row on the Dream, would we enjoy the Magic or should we just stick with the Dream? Also curious about "aging" on the Magic. Any suggestions?

I will say magic u will get different shows than the dream. Don't worry about the age of the magic DCL keeps them in good shape

While the Magic is the oldest ship in the DCL fleet, it certainly isn't "aging". I believe, in cruise ship life, she's actually not that old.

Personally, if I were in your position, I'd give the Magic a try. Couple of reasons - you haven't been on the Magic yet, and it's cheaper.

Magic - New shows, new (wonderful) crew, PLUS fewer people at Castaway Cay.

That's an excellent point (CC crowd). We love the classic ships, the lounges and theater seem more intimate, and Disney keeps them looking brand new.

I'd hate to use price as a reason to choose, a "little less" for such a major vacation event doesn't seem the right decision factor. Both ships are wonderful, of course. Dream is larger, has Remy, has more lounges, has a lot of onboard activities, and has a pretty large and cool buffet area. Magic seems more intimate and personal, has a pretty cool lounge near the atrium, and it's right out of a new dry dock update!

Don't forget that the Dream just came out of dry dock. We got off of the Dream for a Halloween cruise and had previously sailed back in January. There are some really nice additions both big and small. The new Star Wars area in the kids club is awesome and the addition of a new water feature in the adult are are just a couple of the many things they tweaked.

I wathced a few videos of the magic just people walking around giving a tour and it did look aging to me. I would choose the dream

I was just on the Magic so my vote is the Dream. We vowed to never cruise out of Miami or on the Magic ever again unless it is for a double dip. I thought it was too small and I never thought the Dream was too big.

Why did you decide you didn't want to do Miami again? Why the not the Magic? We have only every done the dream class and are doing our first cruise on the magic out of Miami in January? Your opinion would be appreciated :)

We loved the Magic... But have never sailed the Dream (doing that in Feb).

We had an almost 3 year old and we basically just did club open houses, movies, splash pad, aqua dunk.

Service was excellent.

I guess if the things the you utilize a lot of the things on the Dream that aren't on the Magic, you'd be better off.

Also, we got off the ship for CC at 10:30an, and no problem finding a great spot with an umbrella.

Do your kids like Star Wars? The dream now has it in their kids club.
Otherwise if you didn't feel the Wonder was too small, I would try the Magic just to try something different.
We were on it last year, and did not feel it was showing its age. It's been "re-imagined" Fall 2013 too. It has a really cool water slide and also the aqua dunk. Rooms were completely re-done too, they were same on the Fantasy.
There was a recent thread on it this too

Also you seem to like the shorter cruises so this will be the time to go on the magic. Dream will do the shorter cruises for maybe years and years who knows. Plenty of time to go back there. The magic won't be sailing too many short cruises so this is your time.

magic has Tangled :)
On the October 4, 2015, 5-night Magic cruise, the Disney Theater shows were (pasted from the Navigators):
Day 1: All Aboard! Let the Magic Begin!
Day 2: Twice Charmed: An Original Twist on the Cinderella Story
Day 3: The Physical Comedy of Max Winfrey
Day 4: Walt Disney: The Dream Goes On
Day 5: Disney Dreams – An Enchanted Classic
That cruise was after the latest (September) dry-dock, so it would be surprising if they have added a show since then (other than possibly changing the Day 3 Pirate Night guest entertainer).

Walt Disney: The Dream Goes On is a fill in show. Requires minimal sets and costumes. They have dropped Villains Tonight for Tangled, so they may be just filling in until the Tangled cast and sets are ready for performances onboard.

Tangled is a big deal and is debuting on November 11. We just missed it!
