Magic Mornings

I used ARES last trip and it worked similar to Getaway today. Get a voucher, bring it to the ticket booth (I did this day before we were going into the parks) and get tickets. It's a little less than Getaway Today, however, GT offers 2 mm's on 3 day hopper, ARES just the one (like Disneyland). That didn't matter for us since mm was only available on one day of our trip anyway.

Thanks! Looks like Ares travel will save us about $16 then. Since we won't be getting there the first day until around 10-10:30 am anyway, I'm thinking booth pick up is ok. The crowds will probably already be in the park when we get there! Can't be avoided though..we're at the mercy of disney cruise line and when they let us off the ship & through customs!

Well, here's a slightly different question about MM:

I stay in Santa Ana, and drive in each day I'm at DL. So I use the DL parking lot/garage. A couple of years ago I got there WAY early . . . and the parking lot wasn't even open yet!!!! By the time they opened it and I parked then waited for a tram to the park, it was 15 minutes into MM. Then I waited another 15 minutes to get through the turnstiles. Not a great MM experience.

Last year I didn't seem to have this problem. So my question is, Does the parking area typically open early enough for me to make MM worthwhile, or can I expect what happened 2 years ago? Thanks!

I'd start a new thread & ask this, but I believe that some have mentioned that the parking garage opens 30 before MM begins.

I believe it was HydroGuy who mentioned that on MM he recommends or mentioned (if driving in for MM) dropping his family off at the drop off 45-50 min. before MM then he goes & parks himself.....allowing him to meet up with his family already standing (near the front) in line.

But the best option is to stay at a place that one can easily walk to the front gate & avoid "day parking" altogether if possible.

We were on the June 1 disney cruise, and we got to the hotel around 10 ish. However, we were sooo exhausted. We went to the parks for a while (we have AP's) but it was so incredibly crowded and hot we couldn't stand it and went back the hotel as soon as the rooms were ready.

Be prepared to be exhausted from the cruise. You want to pack as much as you can the night before and you have to get up pretty early. If we didn't have AP's we probably wouldn't have bothered going to the parks the first day. Sundays are so crowded and we were so tired that a swim in the hotel pool, a visit around downtown disney and an early dinner and night would have been enough for us.

As it was the youngest one of our party (6) stayed at the hotel with dh after dinner and I and the oldest boys went back to the parks (9 and 12). We knew we had to wait in lines if we wanted to go on rides so that's what we did.

We had a great time as I'm sure you will too. But be prepared to be tired, that's all.

Thanks for the warning! I figured we'd be tired too from the early morning off the ship, so even though we're getting 3 day hoppers so we can do MM on Tues, I figure sun will be pretty much a bust...from getting there so late, to being tired, long lines, and getting hot. I pretty much planned going over to DL/DCA and maybe do some of the less popular things on sunday (I read somewhere about the animator's thing where you learn to draw the characters...my dd8 is sooo much into art and I know she'd love this plus its in the a/c!) If the kids get tired, we'll go back to hojo when room is ready, take a nap and/or swim, and hopefully be able to enjoy some of the evening sunday but may or may not watch fireworks from the park...we have disney view so might watch them from balcony and go to bed so as to have an early start on monday.
