I have a couple questions about them. I have been to Disneyland before. I can't remember who is allowed in on the magic mornings. We are staying at the Disneyland Hotel. We also have AP's. Will this let us in on magic mornings? And I have looked, but I can't find the days that magic mornings are. Can anyone help me out? Thanks!

Rick

Hi Rick! The MMs are Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. The AP won't get you in, but staying at one of the DLR hotels will get you in each MM day that you stay there..... Have fun!

Wow! That was fast. Thanks for the info. I thought staying at the hotel would be enough, but I had a special package last time I stayed and didn't know if that was tied to it. Thanks again!

Otherwise, 3 day hopper passes or longer will get you one Magic Morning entrance.

We were there last week and a couple of weeks ago, and we tried magic morning once. We found it a bust. By the time we arrived at the gate at 7:50 am there was a huge line-up, we didn't get in the park until 8:00. We went to Nemo and it wasn't working, they told us to come back later. We then ran to Space Mountain, which by now had a 15 minute line-up. Once we finished on Space Mountain and went to check Nemo, the line was 40 minutes. We went back to Space Mountain and when we got off it was 8:50. We decided to run over to Indiana Jones which still had the rope up. Once the rope came down, there was a huge mob running towards it, by the time we got there it was a 20 minute wait.

Once we got off Indiana Jones the wait was down to 10 minutes and the rest of park seemed quiet since all the rides were now open and the initial rush of people had spread out.

I think you need to be at the gate 1/2 hour before the park opens or it isn't worth it. At least that's how we felt. We didn't bother again, and didn't find much lineups until last week.

::yes:: Exactly. And if you do get there and are one of the first few people in the parks, it is one of the bestest ways to start your Disney day.

Our family can easily accomplish 7-8 rides during that hour.

This is not true for all cases. In your case you went to Nemo when there were already a ton of people ahead of you. If you want to ride Nemo during MM, you have to be there 30-45 minutes before MM begins, otherwise you experience what you did. However, if you had chosen to ride the Fantasyland rides for your MM I think you would have had a more enjoyable time. MM is a great time to knock off all of those slow loading FL rides without having to wait a long time.

It also depends on the time of year that you're visiting.

Last October, on an "off season" Tuesday, we arrived at the gates 10 minutes after MM started.

Thirty minutes into MM we had only been on Peter Pan (PP had a 12 minute wait). But in the remaining 30 minutes we rode 5 or 6 more rides in FL, so our MM was still great! :wizard:

ETA: I agree with the general consensus to arrive 30 minutes early for FL and 45 minutes early for Finding Nemo. I just posted to say a good word about Magic Mornings. :earsboy:

Oh absolutely, even on regular non-MM days I wouldn't show up any later then a half hour before opening. Otherwise there will always be a huge line at the gates. For Nemo we got to the gates a good 45 minutes before it opened, that way we were at the front of the line. Earlier the better really.

Unless your there at a very slow time of year, which honestly there isn't much of those these days.

Where is the info on disney's website about when MM's are? I looked and couldn't find it. Pg 26 of the 2008 UG says Mon/Tues/Thurs/Sat. When on Mousesavers, a package deal there mentioned Mon/Tues/Thurs/Sun. Does anyone know where it officially says what days?

Also, we will be there on a sun/mon/tues. Not able to do MM on sun because will be getting off cruise ship and probably won't even get to park until 10:00am ish. If Mon is not MM and the only MM is indeed Tues that we can do, is there any advantage to getting tickets with GAT or disneyland.com or ares travel?

I totally agree we were there the last week in June last year and we were always by the gates at 6:30 and were usually only 5 people or so in front of us and we were able to do all the FL rides during MM except nemo, space mt. I would definately recommend MM but make sure you are there 30 min. ahead of time

It changed this January, so the UG wouldn't be updated enough for that (like the Birnbaum '08 WDW guide published as the dining plan changed still say the plan includes appetizer and tip, I hear). It's the S and T days. Since you will only be there for one of the days anyway, if the GAT tickets are more expensive than you can find elsewhere, then don't get them. GAT is the only place that offers the 2 MMs, so get your tickets wherever is least expensive for you! (assuming it's a reputable site)

Thanks for all of the information. This will really help me decide how to handle Magic Mornings. The DISboards are the best!

I don't think you have to be quite so early if you are doing FL rides.

I still think Nemo is easy on regular, non-mm mornings. Shorter run from the rope drop. You still need to be early, but it won't be the crack of dawn at least. Plus, you can get so much done in FL on mm's if you just skip Nemo.

The PPs are correct about the MM days being Sat, Sun, Tues, and Thurs. Disney doesn't do a good job of putting this kind of information on their DL web-site. If you want to confirm it "officially," you could call DL's Guest Relations at 714-781-7290. The Unofficial Guide to DL 2008 was released in September '07, so its "Early Entry" (now called MM) information is outdated.

Since you only need one MM, I would avoid GAT, since GAT requires that you pick up your tickets at a DL ticket booth. IMO it would be easier to have the actual tickets delivered to you, or get an "eTicket" (your 8.5" x 11" PDF print-out can be carried straight to the turnstiles).

Well, here's a slightly different question about MM:

I stay in Santa Ana, and drive in each day I'm at DL. So I use the DL parking lot/garage. A couple of years ago I got there WAY early . . . and the parking lot wasn't even open yet!!!! By the time they opened it and I parked then waited for a tram to the park, it was 15 minutes into MM. Then I waited another 15 minutes to get through the turnstiles. Not a great MM experience.

Last year I didn't seem to have this problem. So my question is, Does the parking area typically open early enough for me to make MM worthwhile, or can I expect what happened 2 years ago? Thanks!

Ok, looks like disneyland.com is same as anywhere $169 adult/$139 child for 3 day park hoppers. Unless anyone knows anywhere cheaper? As for the e-ticket versus real tickets, what is the difference? Is one more of a laminated card? What is preferable in the parks? I don't want my piece of computer paper to get ruined or whatever...if they mail me actual tickets, extra charge? Thanks!

If you order from disneyland.com and choose the e-ticket, you get a voucher to print out. You take that to the gates, hand it over, they scan it and out pops a newly printed ticket, just for you. :)

Other places people like are getawaytoday.com (take your ID to Guest Services or a ticket booth, show them the ID, tell them you ordered from GAT, get your ticket) and Ares Travel (know nothing about them but their name and that poeple like them).

AresTravel.com sells 3 day park hoppers for $164 adult/$134 child. There's a $1/ticket "convenience fee," and if I understand it correctly, you would need to pick up the tickets at a DL ticket booth.

One thing to keep in mind, with AresTravel or GetAwayToday you will need to pick up the actual tickets at a DL ticket booth. With the DL e-ticket option you would go straight to the DL turnstiles (with your PDF print-out), where you would get your actual tickets. Yes, if you order the actual tickets from the DL web-site, then you will need to pay extra for the shipping.

Here is some additional information from MouseSavers.com:
