So glad you found the jacket you wanted and I definitely need to go through everyone's clothes too and make sure we all have what we need. We went to Norway 3 years ago but with several colder holidays since then we are in need of new stuff too and I don't want to leave it all until the last minute!!!

That sucks if it's just a UK thing with the tax. We first had it in 2012 and panicked thinking something was wrong. Turns out its the predicted taxes or something that are charged at the time of booking/versus the taxes due when final payment is made. Or something like that. Either way it makes me do a happy dance. More money for BINGO!

Howdy Cruise Peeps!
Wardrobe Update - I did return the jacket - Found the one I wanted in the color I wanted online! yeah! Just need to get DH and DD some socks. I am going to make my home peeps go through their clothing this week-end and make sure they have what they need and it all fits! We did just get past all those eating holidays if you know what I mean! May have to go on a Fish and Chicken Diet in my house! I do hope we don't have to get to extreme and have to start (don't say it...) exercising!!!!!!!!!!! UGHHHHH!! Actually I do plan to start walking again once the snow is all gone and it doesn't feel like the Artic Tundra outside. The weather people are calling for temps close to 60 by this week-end so we should be good to go! No snow and the flooding is gone. Just mud! I will take the mud over the ice!

Hi lelalittlelegs I'm glad you wrote that I was just coming on here to ask the same thing I got very confused as to why we were being refunded £52. I had a brief moment of panic when I thought the whole lot was being refunded and that was a cancellation fee!!!!! I didn't realise it was a tax rebate! Thanks for clearing that up.

I've just re-downloaded the DCL app (I delete it when we aren't onboard because it depresses me to look at it) and the countdown tells me it's 114 days until until we embark. Just 14 more days and we are into double digits. If you haven't got it and you own a smartphone, download it ahead of your cruise because it has an abundance of info available on it when you're onboard pirate:

Since this doesn't close out till 4/30, I'm still going to hold off on deciding till right before then. Since we're on the TA cruise too, I have 2 FE groups AND 2 ornament groups and really just need to see where I stand. I'm getting quite a bit done ahead of time but will also be out of pocket for 2 weeks between now and then with WDW and a long girls' weekend on the Magic :-)

I have set a reminder on my phone to check back in and let you know by 4/29. But if for some reason I do forget, I understand I will be deleted.

Hello all!

As we are nearly in double digits days to sailing date my husband and I are trying to get a little more organised (this is our first ever cruise and we are therefore trying not to miss anything too obvious). We are planning on paying gratuities in advance but were wondering about what to do should we decide to tip a little extra once on board. As we are UK based we will have pounds and krone with us (and a credit card). Does anyone know if we need to get some dollars for tips or are the crew members happy to accept other currency?

I believe you can exchange money on the ship if you want US Dollars to add to your Tip envelopes.

Hi Everyone!
I am so excited to be on this cruise! It will be me (Lynn) DH (David) and DD (Jennifer - 22 at sailing). We have a room on Deck 6 Aft with a Verandah. We had one for our Alaskan cruise and loved it! I just bundle up and watch the beautiful mountains and water! I saw all kinds of animals from my verandah when we went to Alaska! Whales, Sea Lions - tons of things! I just love going out there after dinner with the late night sun. This will be our 4th cruise - We (DH and myself) are doing a Member's Cruise in Aug. I told DH after this cruise we will have done 3 of the 4 ships - So now we need to do a cruise on the Fantasy!
I have already started looking at Port Adventures / researching Norway.
If you have not seen it - there is a thread on Norway - if you can't find it let me know and I will post it - it has tons of helpful information. I believe it was started last year for the Norway cruises.
I am thinking we will do a couple of days pre cruise in England. I have never been and have always wanted to go. DH wants to go to Abbey Road - of all the things to do in England - Abby Road ? Really? I think I could pass on that - I would rather see more historic sites and I want to see a real castle. Has anyone thought about what they are going to do or where they are going to stay pre cruise?

Several people requested privacy of their info and don't want it posted on the DIS so I can't just list everything out for all to see. So in trying to keep everyone happy - Please let me know what info you need and I will be happy to send you the information. We are up to 11 confirmed cabins!!!

Hey guys, a quick question. Do you know when we will be able to check in at the port in Dover? We want to arrive early, drop our bags at the terminal (and perhaps even check in), then get back off the ship to visit Dover Castle for a couple of hours, then head back to the ship. Normally, we'd know the Port Arrival Time from check-in, however, we are now Platinum (Yay!), so it doesn't show PAT's on the check in screens anymore.

Does anyone know?
 
H Frances - I'm UK based too and this is our 3rd time on the Magic. You can exchange pounds/krone for dollars onboard but the exchange rate isn't good - nothing like you'd get at The Post Office for example. We always pay all of our gratuities in cash (only because we own a cash based business and I personally like the idea of the staff getting their tips straight away and not waiting for Disney to process it into their wages) but you will need dollars on board, as you say, for extra stuff. Tips for room service or bar service etc I always order a bunch of 1 dollar bills from the bank to take with me as they're easy to hand out when you're using a service (a couple for room service for example, this is just what we do and I am not suggesting that this is what everyone should do) and then maybe some bigger notes for anything else you might want to tip on. I would recommend taking dollars WITH you and then at the end of the cruise, if you have any left, you can go to guest services and use them to reduce your on board bill before settling it with your credit card. You can do the same with any left over krone.

Crew would be happy to accept other currency but it's worth remembering that they too might incur a charge to exchange currency.

I got my one excursion for my Hike - but no luck for Palo Brunch - Will try once I get on the ship. I do hope everyone is getting what they want!
