What were your first thoughts when you walked into Magic Kingdom and saw The Castle.
I only ask because when we first went 10 years ago my DW burst into tears, even I was choked.....why was this?

For me it's that lovely feeling of being somewhere both special and magical and away from the hassle of the" real world". Just got to love that feeling:thumbsup2 The ambience is out of this world too and love those special extras that you have to stop and listen out for and the details everywhere.

Yes it is special & magical also for me as a child a LONG time ago I used to watch the TV programme which I think was called Disneytime. This was shown around Bank Holidays & featured clips of many Disney films especially the latest release. But it also showed items from Disneyland & later Disney world.

Any one else old enough to remember it?
At that time I didn't know anyone who had visited or had any chance of visiting myself. So it was special when we finally got there,

I think its just that special "something" that you feel as soon as you see the Castle. It doesn't matter whether you are young or old either - the magic of Disney is everywhere as soon as you enter. I can't really describe the feeling but I get it every single time - and this will be our 7th !!

Being able to go back to your childhood and relive all your fantasies is what Disney is all about.

I also get the same feeling at the end of the day when the fireworks start - and you are sitting at the end of Main street watching them.

It's a feeling like no other - just absolutely incredible.

We first went 10 years ago as well! It was the boat ride across when we first saw the castle, wow!! we just couldnt believe we were there :cloud9:
even now when we go we have the same old feelings coming back:wizard:

It has not happened at MK for me but 2 places stand out clear for me.
First time DS saw statue of Liberty, thats all he wanted to see aged 8 after months of reading about New York, expression on his face was priceless.
Other time was again in NY when we went to see the original Winnie the Pooh stuffed toys in the Childrens Library, seeing something from your childhood that is also historical is amazing, I guess its the same with the castle for a lot of people, just not me.

To us it was the feeling of "finally being here" and it was soo magical and special, and to hear our little girl in the background screaming "mickey is here";)

I burst into tears. I'd dreamed of going for so long then to be actually stood at the bottom of main street looking towards the castle, it was a dream come true. (I actually spent most of the first trip to WDW in tears, happy tears of course). :smickey: It still brings tears to my eyes now.

This is a bit like therapy, I think your right, for me and DW it was probably a memory of Disneytime which i used to watch, i think saturday tea time after the football results on Grandstand, whilst eating tea at my grannys in Blackpool.
In them days we would never have dreamed that we would be able to go to Florida.

First time was filled with excitement. The castle is an icon of all the Disney movies and Disneytime that it feels very special when you see it. I feel more emotional now when I see it because it is like coming 'home' if you know what I mean. I hate saying goodbye to it on our last night though but I came up with the perfect remedy for this, have your next year's holiday booked up before you go, then you know you are coming back!

Anyone remember "The Wonderful World Of Disney"? Sometimes it was cartoons and other times it was like a nature programme with a story narrated by Walt Disney himself.............Oh happy memories:banana:

I remember this programme very well - are we showing our age here?
I also remember thinking "I will never ever get to that place in a million years", and now I've been 6 times !! I dreamt about going there for years and years.
