My family is planning a trip to BLT and was wondering, for those of you who have had it, is the Magic Kingdom view worth the extra points?

We do! You should do it at least once. You are so immersed in Disney with that view. The first day gave me chills. At the same time you are viewing, and hearing the castle, fireworks during the stage show, the sleek monorail and it's sound, a bus, the steam of the train, then the train and it's whistle as it rounds the bend to the MK, etc. Unless you stay in the castle, this is it!
Watching the fireworks from you bed and listening to the wishes music on your tv is special. When we pull back the drapes each morning I realize how lucky we are to own DVC. My DH says it puts me in Disney overload! :rotfl2:

With all that said, the bay lake views are not too shabby. Would be very happy there but we do spend more time than most relaxing as DVC has allowed us to do parks at a slower pace. The view is the ultimate Disney experience without being in MK.

Could not agree with you more!! We stayed twice on cash reservations and recently bought at BLT resale because this is the ultimate Disney experience IMO:dance3:. If your room is high enough you do not even have to close the drapes at night and can enjoy the castle as you drift off to sleep!! Even better is waking up during the night and realizing where you are!!

I agree with the other two posts, however, if you don't have real little kids that will not make it to see the fireworks, my kids and I really enjoy going upstairs to the Top of the World Lounge. You can get a drink, relax and see the fireworks also with the music piped in. It's also a great view from there. You do need BLT to be your home location and be staying on points (last I heard) to be admitted up there. But, doing it this way will still give you the up close feeling without a large crowd with the same view as one of the rooms (without the bed), and you'll get to save points if you don't have alot to begin with.

I agree with this. We stayed there last January and it was very nice to be able to take our LO (13 months) up to the observation deck and watch the fireworks with him already in his pajamas. Once they were over straight to the elevator and right to bed. He loved watching them so we did this 3 nights of our stay. Oh and our home resort is OKW, so BLT doesn't have to be your home resort to use this, but you do have to be staying at BLT on points.

We were quite disappointed with Magic Kingdom view. It was the fourth floor on the Contemporary side and seemed to be mostly parking lot and the underside of monorail. Even leaning over the rail we couldn't see all the fireworks. Our next reservation is lake view.

Sorry to hear about your view on the 4th floor. We were on the 5th floor and it was truly great. I wanted to be higher, but the 5th floor was still a good view.

Our 3 children (7, 3, 1) would wake up and go to the window and stare. Before bed, they would be at the window too. All I would hear is Monorail, monorail. Look at all the different color ones, etc. The fireworks from our balcony were great, as well as the Top of the World Lounge too.

You have to try it atleast once. We have our second MK view stay in September, so you could say once wasn't enough for us.

I can say, that as our kids get older, we will stay on the Lake View or Standard view to save on poiints. We have only stayed in 2bedrooms, so you can understand our want to save on a few points......

We were 3rd floor magic kingdom view last November. Initially I was very dissappointed with the view especially since it cost a ton of points but as our week went on I liked it. I was able to see people coming and going and watch the monorails. We still had great views of the fireworks. That said we went up to the top of the world and the views there were great. I really wish they would change some of the room categories so that anything 5th floor or below isn't magic kingdom view.

For the lounge, if you are staying at BLT on points, but you are a renter, can you enter?

If they know that you're a renter (whether you or the owner you're renting from told them), that perk will be taken away as it's intended for members.

And to answer your original question, wasn't worth it for us. We got the 4th floor and view was mostly parking lot with the top of the castle, astro orbiter, and space mountain. We're not in the room during Wishes so didn't watch from the room.

Ok thanks. I will not attempt it. I love my owners that I rent from, and respect their privileges.

I really hope it's worth it. My family only had enough points for a lake view, but I surprised my wife with a point transfer-in to get the MK view.

I think my son will love seeing the monorail more than the castle. And, he's so young that watching Wishes from our room will be a much better option for us.

I agree with all the positive reviews - It should be done once. I had an upper floor and as another post said, it's great looking out from your bed and realizing that you are at WDW. I don't think I'd make MK view a regular booking, but every once in a while.........

I agree. I've stayed there a few times and been lucky enough to get the 9th and 10th floors but I did stay on the 4th floor once. Those should be reclassified as standard view rooms. That would require adjusting the point chart slightly but it would prevent alot of guests from being disappointed. When you cross the skybridge and go down to your room, that should not be a "Theme Park" view that requires maximum points.

Most of the photos of the MK taken from BLT are using a telephoto lens. To the eye, the castle is not as close as one would think and you run the risk of being on a lower floor. For that reason, staying in a LV room and going to the TOTW is a better use of points IMHO.

ITA with this.

To the OP's question--is it worth it? You pay a lot of points and and risk getting a lower floor. We had a MK view for my birthday one year. It was on the 4th floor. The daytime view was better than nighttime--the parking lot lights dominated the view at night. I was disappointed and decided we'd go with the Std view or the LV in the future.

Our most recent trip we had a std view room that was on the 2nd floor (2 floors almost directly below the MK view room we had). I was totally thrilled with that view! :)

Contrary to answer given above, it is my understanding that the lounge is available to anyone staying in BLT and thus is not exclusively for DVC members.

As to OP, it has been reported by others that MK is great if you have high floor but if you have 3d or 4th fl, it leaves much to be desired and it is highly questionable those rooms should be MK view cost

I also agree with this statement!! We stayed on the 6th floor....but I just can't imagine getting a room any lower than that considering the amount of points required! I really wish DVC would change some of those room catagories!!

To the OP....we LOVE, LOVE , LOVE the BLT!!! The MK view is our absolute favorite!! Hoping for a GV next April!!:rolleyes2
