Magic Kingdom view at BLT worth it?

Contrary to answer given above, it is my understanding that the lounge is available to anyone staying in BLT and thus is not exclusively for DVC members.

As to OP, it has been reported by others that MK is great if you have high floor but if you have 3d or 4th fl, it leaves much to be desired and it is highly questionable those rooms should be MK view cost

Does anyone know what the main room type is for the 3rd and 4th floor? For example, is it mainly studios? Or 1 bedrooms? Or is it pretty evenly split?

I think the view is worth it but as wonderful as that is the major selling point for me was the location. I had a hard time choosing between a couple of other resorts but it was the location that pushed my decision over the top.

If they know that you're a renter (whether you or the owner you're renting from told them), that perk will be taken away as it's intended for members.

And to answer your original question, wasn't worth it for us. We got the 4th floor and view was mostly parking lot with the top of the castle, astro orbiter, and space mountain. We're not in the room during Wishes so didn't watch from the room.

Actually, I don't believe either of these answers are quite accurate. Wasn't the rule that it was only for guests staying on points...you didn't have to be a member, but using DVC points (similar to the internet).

Either way, I have also heard reports that they are not being very restrictive of the lounge because it is not getting very crowded. Even members staying elsewhere have been permitted to use it. I am afraid if it doesn't get used (as in making a positive revenue) it will be closed similar to the Attic.

We have done 9 nights in a two bedroom MK view last August. It pretty cool to have a view of cinderalla castle when ever I felt like it. Would do it again without question. I believe MS told me that majority of the rooms are lakeview, so scoring MK view is a big plus.

My partner and I have BLT as one of our home resorts -

We chose to do MK view for our first stay, because it was our first stay....It was a "relax" trip vs. a "park" trip and we knew we would have time to relax and enjoy the view and fireworks at night.

With that said, we know we got lucky and were high enough and far enough to the right to have a great view....

We'll be back in December with friends who haven't been since they were kids and their 2 year old... we took a lake view as we knew we would be staying late in the parks and running all day.

So aside from the amount of points and the crap shoot of what floor you may get - definitely look at how much time you might be spending in the parks.

HTH

I have stayed twice in LV rooms that were on the northern end and had wonderful views from the balcony of the fireworks.

Considering the points difference, it was great. Because they have those MK view rooms on 3rd floor, I would be frustrated to know I spent all those points and was only 1 floor above someone in a SV room.

So, for me, having MK view room would never be worth the points.

it doesn't hurt to ask at the front desk. just understand that you may not be entitled to it...

If you ask - technically the policy is to say no. What they will or won't do depends on the particular CM I guess. I don't volunteer the info when making a reservation and have had renters come back and say there were able to go up there. I assume if it's not full anyway, the CM probably wouldn't care so long as the reservation is on points but the only way to find out is to try I guess.

During our Christmas trip, we had a standard view at BLT, but were super super pixie dusted in that our room actually faced MK, so we got to see Wishes every single night above the Castle. Although I certainly will not expect such luck very many times in the future, that experience has us convinced that we won't ever pay the extra points for an MK view. :goodvibes

We would do it every time. This was 8020 which was 10th floor center-so pretty lucky.

One other thing is the inner lake view rooms (1 and 2BR) have a narrow living room in comparison, so the chair bed is a little tight-and also the windows are therefore not as wide. The 1BR we had, had an 18 foot wide by 6 feet high window so we spent a lot of time relaxing and staring at MK.

It is off in the distance, but a camera that has no zoom at all shows it further away than your eye sees. Esp at night-the castle did not seem that far away, and Space Mountain is right there as well. Plus your eye does see through a zoomed lens as well-its still awesome to sit in bed and see the castle.

Another thing is with the outside ring curving away-you cannot see any rooms looking left/right/up/down. Its like your room is suspended in air just for you alone.

We did it once and I will never forget that view. We are view people. Even during the day we found ourselves watching the monorail trying to see all of the different colors. But I don't think I would do it every time. It really eats up the points.

My family is planning a trip to BLT and was wondering, for those of you who have had it, is the Magic Kingdom view worth the extra points?

Here now, don't have it.

Have a lake view!

We can see the castle from the windows by the elevator, from the 5th floor walkway, from the outside sitting area at the Contemporary as you come off the 5th floor walkway and from the Top of the World Lounge. Enough for me, I'm pretty much taking it for granted now.

I like watching the monorails better!

From my 10th floor room I can also see the Epcot ball, Expedition Everest, Swolphin all as teeny bits on the horizon - the camera lens does bring them in closer. I like watching the boats on the lake, the parasailing and the general comings and goings - lots to watch here!

Top of the World - the guy asked to see our keycards - not sure if he looked for member on them or not, as we are members, but the place was pretty empty except for the actual few minutes of fireworks time, when everyone was actually outside on the observation deck as opposed to in the lounge.

Not worth it for us--but we were on the third or fourth floor, right above the sign in front. I hated it. Right next to the overhang that had cigarette butts on it. Yuck. I called to have it cleaned but it just wasn't magical lol. Going for standard view in April.
