My daughter is at Disney this week, and she is amazed at how busy the Magic Kingdom is today.

She has been to Disneyworld in February before and says there is no comparison in the crowds....it is much busier this year.

Is there no longer an off-season? Why so busy today?

Maggie

I reserved for a long weekend, Feb. 17 - 20 and found out that I was in "peak" season.

Considering we have folks coming down for Daytona and Super Bowl, it's probably not too surprising that it's a bit busier right now.

Hope she's having a great time!

Wow my sister is there right now as well, I am sure she is surprised by the crowds. I was there all of last week and there were almost no crowds at all! Go figure!!!

Hmm, things must be picking up there then. We spent last week at WDW - returned yesterday - and it was pleasantly quiet, fewer people even than early December which I wasn't expecting. The exception was Saturday, 2/5 at MGM where they were having a cheerleading event at the Indy Jones theatre and it was a bit crazy ...

Anyway, between the Superbowl, Daytona, cheerleaders and refugees from Mardi Gras country I am guessing this was always gonna be a busy week. Hope she has a great time anyway!

Monday is one of the busy days at MK, Saturday is probably the busiest. Based on reports here on the Dis, there aren't too many slow days at any time of year at MK. That's why the EMH and Fastpass are especially critical at this park. :earsboy:

I went over to MK today and I couldn't get over how busy it was. Main Street was just a sea of people. I also never saw such a line at the security checkpoint.

yesterday was just as bad. we saw a lot of kids with dance team shirts on. tomorrowland was jammed the entire day, Stitch was a 50 minute wait.

Magic Kingdom was extremly crowed today. And we went over to epcot around 2ish and wait for test track was about 50 minutes...and fast passes were gone until 6:30 -7:30!
We went to universal yesterday and it was dead!! We walkked right onto just about everything!! We'll see what the rest of the week holds :0)

I was there yesterday (sun) and was also surprised - by noon the waits were averaging 30 mins. or more. I expected it to be a slow day since it was a day with no spectro and an early close. The Tues before (1st) we were in the MK until 2 PM and most rides were walk ons (except Stitch) or a wait of about 10 mins towards mid day. I agree that between the dance competitions ending, the superbowl, and Pres weekend coming, the crowds are up. In general, I'm beginning to believe that there is no longer the kind of 'off' season many of us have been used to in the past - we also found the first week of Dec much more crowded than we expected.

I really think all the people headed to Florida had something to do with it. Also, the 2 week raceweek starts pretty soon in Daytona which draws crowds. So, a lot of people are coming for other things that may be stopping over in Disney for a day or 2.
