We have an ADR at 9:45pm at 'Ohana on a Tuesday in mid-October. We plan to be in the Magic Kingdom that evening. What time should we leave the park to head to the Polynesian Resort? What is the best mode of transportation to get there?

Take the resort monorail and leave about 20 to 25 minutes before the reservation

Thank you! I keep reading about the "resort" monorail and the "express" monorail. What are the differences? How do you know which one is which before you get on?

There are 2 separate lines. One will say To Resorts and the other will say Transportation and Ticket Center. The Resort one Stops at the GF, Contemporary, and Poly. The express just stops at TTC and Magic Kingdom

Before just getting on the monorail, check the line for the boat. It will be to the left of the monorail line. If the line is short and you see one of boats getting ready to dock there, I would take that. It only goes to GF and Poly. I love using the various ferry boats from/to MK. The resort monorail from MK will stop at Contemporary, TTC, then Poly. Make sure you get off at the third stop. I have been on the resort loop and had people not pay attention and realize they got off at the wrong stop after the monorail had already pulled away.

I second using the resort launch. Especially if it's a nice day. I'd plan on leaving MK gates at 9pm. That allows for a a 20 minute wait, the 15 minute boat ride, and 10 minutes to walk to O'hana. You might save 10 minutes by taking the monorail.
