I had originally planned to do the signups the first of December, but with everything going on, we talked about postponing new swaps til after the first of the new year. Well, this is it--the new year!

The next in our park swaps is Magic Kingdom. Here are my thoughts:

1. Keep the groups small--15 per group. Add groups as needed.

2. Go by lands in the park--Main Street, Tomorrowland, Toontown, Fantasyland, Liberty Square, Frontierland, Adventureland.

We would have 4 elements per land, each person would sign up for two elements in the same land. That would mean 14 people per group.

A 15th person would do a Magic Kingdom title and another element for us.

3. Signups will start next weekend--January 8. Due date late February--probably 28th.

When this one is done, I will host the waterparks, dtd, all sports, miniature golf, etc. swap if there is interest.

Please let me know your thoughts and if you would be interested by this Thursday, the 5th.

Thanks!

It all right there, lol. I think we would post what we wanted to do when we sign up. So the frist to sign up for a land would choose two element in that land, then the second to sign up for the same land would do two other elements for the same land. And So on and so on and so on.

I would be up for this, have lots of pictures to scrap from the past year. 15 sounds like a good group size.

What happens to all the stuff when it has been sent off? What is an element?
Thank You princess:

The stuff gets sent to the hostess where she'll take everyones pieces they sent and sorts it out and you'll get back 15 different things for your scrapbook.

An element is a certain thing like a Border, a tag, a photo mat, frame, squares, etc

I'll play cause after today I'm caught up on scrapping... (well until I get my tush off and go download my christmas pics..)

I think I will join in- it sounds like fun!!!!!!!

Do you have to make 15 of each thing you are making?
Thank You princess:

If the groups are by lands would the elements be strictly for the overall land, i.e. "Tomorrowland" or for more specific rides or places in the land, i.e. "Space Mountain?"

Just wanted to pop in and "subscribe" to this thread...so I could see how the swap unfolds...and to be ready for sign ups. :)

Could someone post up some pics of "elements" made in previous swaps please? I don't think I'm nearly talented enough to make stuff for other people's books!

Me three! I'm always up for the Magic Kingdom! And, for the newbies, elements are usually things like:

11" borders
titles
embellished squares
tags
photo mats
photo frames
journal boxes
library cards
fiber
eyelets (round or shaped)
paper piecings
shaker boxes
poems and sayings
etc.

If you'd like to see samples, check out www.twopeasinabucket.com . If you search any of the words above in the "Peanut Gallery," you'll see all sorts of samples. Two peas is great for creative ideas!

340 days and counting . . . again!

I guess my question is the same as New England Eeyore

Joy (Bubbasmom99) has posted links to past swap elements in the sticky at the top of the forum called "Swap Calendar". http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=859482

Look them over & choose something you think you can handle. Everyone has to start somewhere - and we all seem to think our work isn't up to everyone else's standards in the beginning. ;) I think it isn't so much the actual work that I found intimidating as the creative process behind the work. You know? But everyone is creative in a different way & that's what the swaps are all about. :)

I agree very much with this. I was intimidated when I first signed up for swaps, but on getting the swaps back you find a big diversity in the items. And it is ALL good! Not every piece needs to be as detailed at the others. Just be sure to stick to the basic instructions of the swap, like if an element is to be double matted.

I was thinking more of keeping it to the lands, rather than the rides. We could include the castle or vehicles on main street or mickey bars.

Thanks inky dinky doo for posting the elements!

I remember being worried about my first swap too. I say this after every swap--everything is so great and my friends here are soooo jealous!

I know I'm new I am interested but I have a couple of questions first :o)
I saw your swaps and you guys do nice work.

questions
1. Do you pick the colors that we are to use so the elements match?
2. If you pick the colors are they bazzill?
3. If I pick shaker and Paper piecings as my 2 elements I have to make 14 or 15 of each?

I was just in a land swap and what I got back was awful. We had to make the whole land kit ourselves then send to hostess for other lands. We had to make 1 title, 4 photo mats, 2 journal boxes, 2 tags, deco square and a shaker. I will pinpoint out some of the things I got back. for a 2 tags out of one of the lands I got themed paper glued to cardstock. No embellishments, no fiber not even an eyelet for the tag hole. Nothing just paper glued to cardstock. in another kit for a poem I got directions yes DIRECTIONS on how to get there. It was just nuts. My Mom is starting to scrap so I gave everything but my land to her. I did keep a shaker and a couple things but it was ridiculous on what was handed in. I don't want to waste my time like that again

Here are link so you can see my work before letting me play :o) I'm not great but I try at least :o)
Here's a link on what I handed in for my land swap. The things title fantasyland are what I handed in
OK I'm having trouble adding links let me see if I can take the h thingy out and see it goes through well that didn't work
if interested
go to webshots
search for Imadizneynut
the ones that say fantasyland are what I handed in for the land swap

here are things I made for spot swaps.
go to webshots
search for Imadizneynut
the ones that start with (s), (c) or (t) are what i handed in for spot swap

these are things I was learning to do. don't laugh the aurora was my 1st try at paper peicing lol
go to webshots
search for nutz4dizney
the 1st two pages are pages I made for my son's first trip to disney (2002) the third page has things I was learning to make at the time. The first auroura was my first paper piecing so no laughin. LOL

I'm really not this picky I just don't want to waste my time if I'm not gonna get back quality work I hope nobody take offense.

I might sign up to this depending on how a meeting goes tomorrow. I'm thinking of setting up my own scrapping store and with me already doing a distance learning undergraduate degree things could get pretty hectic. I'd probably be up for making some toppers or borders but I don't know if my stuff is good enough as I'm still doing quite basic pages. I'd be worried about disappointing my swap partners! My username on 2peas in easyqueenie if anyone wants to have a look at my stuff so far!
