I'm planning a trip to Magic Kingdom this August. It's been a few years since i've been there. I'll be in a party of three (two adults and one 4 year old).

What's the story on the ride seating? From what I see most of the rides are two person seating. Am I going to have to sit odd man out for all of the rides?

Some of the big ones on the list are:
Thunder Mountain
Space Mountain
Splash Mountain
Haunted Mansion
Pirates of the Caribbean

You'll be fine on Splash, Haunted Mansion and Pirates. Is your 4 yo big enough and willing to ride thunder and space mountain? If so you'll be seperated on space mountain and its very unnerving riding with a small child. My DS rode at 5 and loved it, but I was a wreck riding behind him not being able to see him. Thunder is two across if you ride that one.

Thunder mountain is 2 people next to each other
Space Mountain is 2 rockets of 3 people in front of each other
Splash is about 3 across, similar to Pirates
Haunted mansion is closed this summber but if it is the same when it reopens in the fall the doom buggies can sometimes fit 3 adults next to each other depending on the size of adult (My dad - bigger guy, my best friend and I - medium women all fit in one, a little tight)

A lot of the rides will fit 2 adults plus a child, providing you're not Pooh shaped!;) Of the list above, I think you would all fit in BTMRR. Space Mountain is a car with 3 single riders (Plus would a 4 yo be tall enough), SM could probably squeeze a 4 yr old between you-but the age thing again-HM will definitely fit 3 but don't forget if the child is in the middle thats where the hitchiker appears! and POTC, unless its changed seats about 4 per row.

BTMRR - It usually seats two but when my DS was little (say under 8 or so), the three of us rode together.

Space - You sit one in front of the other, so no one rides with a partner.

Splash - Two seater, but I've seen two adults with a really small child sit together.

Haunted Mansion - two adults and a small child can ride together.

Pirates - it's bench seating, so 4 or 5 people can fit in a row together.

For space and thunder and splash (provided the 4y/o is tall enough), yes you will be "odd man out". Pirates is a boat similar to It's a Small World so no problem there and on HM you should be able to fit the 3 of you with no problem.

Thanks for the quick feedback!

We'll likely play it by ear. She's a trooper so she'll probably be game.
I think she meets the height requirements.

The only one of these rides I didn't do before is splash mountain. The drop used to freak me out but I'm game for it this time!

According to the magic kingdom website:

The Haunted Mansion: Closed for Refurbishment [July 2, 2007 to July 31, 2007]

We're planning on being there a couple weeks later. Does anyone know if that information is outdated? This is my favorite attraction! The trip isn't about me but it'll be a bit of a downer if that ride is being refurbished when we're there.

If you're only looking at the July Calendar, it will only show until July 31. Haunted Mansion actually reopens 9/12.
