I'm trying to decide on whether to make my 1st MK visit on a Halloween party day (Fri, Oct 18th-hours are 9am-7pm) or on a full park day (Monday, Oct 21st-this day has EMH as well)

I don't like how my boys won't get to see the Electrical Parade and Wishes from the park on our 1st visit.

Is it really that bad if they don't see it on our 1st MK day? I do have Wed (full park hours) planned for MK as well.

All you Disney experts, please help! I'm really torn..not sure what to do?

Do I do Fri, Oct 17th (Halloween party day) & Wed, Oct 24th (full hours)
Or...
Do I do Monday, Oct 21st (full day & EMH) & Wed, Oct 24th (full hours)

Decisions...decisions...this is my boys and DH's 1st visit.

Thank-you!!!!

I would do the party day and then the full day. Most people do not want to waste a park ticket on a day when MK closes early. You will find the park much less crowded than you will your full day. That day is also an early EMH day. Are you staying onsite? If so, be sure to be there before 8:00 a.m. You will get so much more done on this day than you will the next one. I'd plan on being out of MK around 4:00 as this is when party guests begin to arrive. Plan a night swim at your hotel or one of the resort restaurants for dinner.

Yes, we are staying on site (AKL)

I've heard we would get more done, but I wasn't sure? I do plan on being there for RD for sure! If we left around 4pm, do u think we would get a lot done?

We are not run to each ride type of people..we are casual, and like to take it all in, especially being my boys and DH's first visit. I haven't been since 2005, so its like a 1st visit for me as well:)

Thanks for your help!! Sometimes I need that reassurance, and getting info/tips from everyone here is a wonderful way to ease my mind!

I just realized I made an error with my Fri date half way through my post. Fri is actually the 18th, not the 17th, sorry. Maybe the 17th has EMH in the am, but I'm not sure about the 18th. I will double check that, thanks!!

I would go on party day. We did a party day this past December and it was great! :thumbsup2 The first MK day you might wear them out too much for Wishes and MSEP anyways

One thing I've learned - and it's tough to do - is PACE YOURSELF. Try to get out of the mindset that you have to do or see everything in one day!

Save the nighttime activities for your 2nd MK day. Your boys will probably enjoy an early exit on Day 1 since there will be so much stimulation to get used to. Most kids remember swimming at the resort pool more than the parks, anyway.

Thank-you! Never thought of that actually, great point!!!

I'm glad to hear from someone that attended MK on a party day, and it turned out to be a wonderful day!

You are very wise:) and you hit the nail on the head!!

My boys LOVE to swim, and I think the pools/waterslides at AKL and Polynesian will be one of their fav things (we are doing a split stay) and of course water parks!

Thank-you for the reassurance I have been looking for!

Thursday has the early EMH. Friday does not, but it looks like both days have parties.

I still think you'll be ready to go by 4:00. That's a long day in the parks without a break, but it is doable even with kiddos. If you think you'll hang out at the resort that evening and swim, I'd plan a TS lunch in MK to build in a little break.

I agree if you have two days go on the party day :) and then go back another day for the night time stuff.

Thank-you to everyone!

I've decided to leave my MK day on the Fri (party day) and then a full day on the following Wed. I have Sat & Monday as a "whatever day" so we could also hit MK in the evening if we wanted to, so I think we should be good.

I just needed some reassurance, and I really appreciate all the input/advice:thumbsup2

I am from Canada (Toronto area) and we have a place called Canada's Wonderland. It isn't as big as MK, but we have Season Passes, and we go all the time. We normally arrive around 10am to the park, and we go all day till close which can range from 10pm-midnight. My kids have TONS of energy..lol, so I honestly think they could go no problem 9am-7pm, but if its a hot day, they may like the break later in the afternoon to return to the resort for a swim.

I was planning on an ADR at Garden Grill later in the evening, so a break might be a good idea:thumbsup2

Thanks again:)
