If the park opens at 9 what time do I need to be at Magic Kingdom for the opening show?

If park open is 9, the Magic Kingdom Welcome Ceremony is at 8:50. I would recommend getting to the TTC no later than 8:10 or 8:15 to allow time for parking, ferryboat/monorail, bag check, and turnstile lines.

Is this everyday, or just certain ones?

The Welcome Ceremony is every day, 10 minutes before scheduled park open, weather permitting.

On EMH mornings it is 10 minutes before the EMH park open (so usually at 7:50am for an 8am EMH).

On EMH mornings there is not a second Welcome Ceremony before regular park open. However, I have heard that there is a special recording that plays that includes a reading of the dedication of the Magic Kingdom. I haven't heard it in person, though.

Thanks for the quick response, I'm usually in the parks that early so that's why I was asking. We plan on taking it easy on a couple days and not doing early morning ADR's. I can't wait to finally see the show, I've only listened to it on the CD's

The opening ceremony is when the characters all come out on the train station, right?

What do they call the part that the performers do the "Walking down the middle of Mainstreet" song? Is that only done right at park opening or do they do it at other times also?

1- Right.

2- Main Street Trolley Parade.

3- It's a morning thing (last performance about 12 Noon.)

There is a welcome ceremony every day, but it's not always the same one!

I was very dissapointed this past Sunday Sept 25th 2011 when all they did was have the characters stand by the railing and count down from 10. :sad1::sad1:The year before, we saw the dancers dancing up there, the full welcome message and all the characters came on the train with the family of the day. This was SO much better than what we saw in 2011.

I was really bummed because I loved the larger welcome show and knew I wouldn't get a chance to see it a few days later when we were back in the MK since I was taking the Magic behind the Steam Trains tour and wouldn't be in front of the park when it opened.

Is there a way to predict what day will have the full show? Robo, any help here? Thanks.

Sorry, but no.

The Steve Soares site (see info below) used to list what days had the SHORT "Magic Kingdom Welcome" show and which offered the FULL version.

That got to be inaccurate part of the time, and I see that there's no mention of the show length on the Soares site anymore.
Although the site still does list the approximate start time every morning of the "Magic Kingdom Welcome"
(as that regards EMH opening time versus Regular hours.)

This is a great site to keep BOOKMARKED for future reference.

The following site posts the stage shows, in-park and other on-property shows and their times for the CURRENT week.
(It is updated every weekend.)
The times may be "similar" for other dates as well.

Last year we were so surprised to see the opening ceremony and it is a memory we all love. We are looking forward to it in a few weeks and I'll be really sad if it is a short version.

When we were there in September for a short trip, the bus from CBR took over 40 minutes to pick us up and we missed the ceremony by minutes. Sigh.
