Magic Kingdom on Labor Day

Yeah we originally booked Labor Day week because it has has Free Dining the last few years. We were super pumped when they moved up the Halloween Party! It is slated for Thursday that week, and can't wait to check it out.

We have done it for the Free Dining too. This last year we booked a bounce back for June with free dining. I will get to see the Halloween Party one day.

We were there for Labor Day weekend in 2010 and I found that MK was by far the most crowded on the Sunday before Labor Day. We were at the park for rope drop and that was fine, but as the day went on it got pretty crowded. When we went back to the park after dinner for EMH, it was jam packed where we couldn't even walk down Main Street without losing each other. That was the most crowded I've ever seen it since I was a little kid. Other than that, the crowds over Labor Day are awesome!!!

We were there that Sunday before Labor Day in 2010 as well and I agree, it was PACKED! We didn't do MK on actual Labor day, but did Epcot, and it was great- no crowds at all!

We will be there for Labor Day this year as well. Hopefully it will not be too hot!!

Headed there this Labor Day. Anyone care to report back after last year any tips for crowds over Labor Day weekend? Should we avoid MK on that Sunday? Crowd calendar recommends it!

We have been at WDW almost every Labor Day for last 6'ish years. The crowds increase every year. We found 2016 to be a tad lighter than 2015 (2016 had a hurricane threat right at LD) but in general crowds are growing every year. Are they peak crowds? No. But is the park 'empty'? Far from it! In fact, due to less staff, some of the attractions lines move slow. We have easily waited 35-50 mins for Space, Splash and BTMRR. TSMM gets crazy lines as does Soarin, TT, ToT, RRC, EE, etc.

And to the pp, we did avoid MK last LD and went to AK instead.

We are also trying Labor Day this year. Usually we visit in May, but due to our school testing schedule and activities, we cannot make it work this year. We will be there Friday-Tuesday. Trying to figure out our schedule so I can make ADRs next Sunday. Right now I have MK on Friday and Monday. Would love to hear from others that have been at MK on Labor Day (Monday) in the past. How were the crowds? Would it be better to go Sunday? I always try to avoid MK on Saturday!
Thanks so much!
We are also doing Friday to Tuesday over Labor Day and we are going to the Halloween party Friday, MK Saturday, AK Sunday and MK Monday. My kiddos (6 and 4 girls) love MK and would be happy just going there. We are doing AK because we are staying at AKL. My parents are going and they like EPCOT but with the food and wine going on we are not going there.

I agree! LD and that week is not "dead" anymore. We have gone the last 5 years,, each year lines are longer.. We base crowds based on how long we wait for rides. Sure some top tier always have lines, but 30 minutes for buzz is a big change from 4 years ago. Crowds are more and I also have noticed a general difference in ride wait times maybe more due to FP+. ++

The last two years I notice the MOvie ride at HS has wait times for 30 min. plus.. a lot also has to do with ride reburbishments.. Last year IASM Wand BTMRR were down over LD.. you notice this at MK... so don't expect too many, if any walk on rides.. unless you RD or do really late nights.

this year MK and Labor Day is hard to tell. Other new factors.. you have splash down during this time and 2 Halloween party in that week!! Aug 29 and Sept 1/7 are party nights. meaning MK closes at 7pm.. so for those guests with no tickets or no park hoppers ( though let's assume FDners have PHs) are forced to choose other days for MK.. this includes LD. Also Epcot F&W starts then too. not sure if this draws more guests exclusively this time of the year?? IMO, if F&W were the only draw for, me I'd pick end of September early Oct due to the heat.

Labor Day is no longer the no crowds, walk-on time of the year, but we still go then as we have no other time due to our school and work schedules. granted we cant compare how good we have it to Xmas and spring break crowds, but for us we are expecting long lines now too.. The last two years gave us that experience. So we are considering joining the RD crowds.. my kids like to ride and ride.... in the past we could sleep in, and hit the parks afternoon and get all down in the time of a full day... not anymore..
