I am trying to plan our park days for our October trip. We will be there Oct. 10-17, so over Columbus Day weekend. I know the parks will be busier over the weekend. I have always read to never to go to Magic Kingdom on a Monday because it tends to be busier as people are beginning their vacations and it's the first park many go to. But MK will be the least crowded park on Columbus Day according to Touring Plans. I checked out easywdw but the Oct. calendar is still from 2014, but Columbus Day was recommended last year. It said because most Florida schools are in session on this day and there was a Halloween party that it would less crowded. Anybody have any experience with this?

That time of year, there's one rule.... if you want a low crowd day in the MK, go on a party day. Of course, that's slightly more complicated because of the busier holiday weekend. But I'd try hard for non weekend party days. If they offer the party on Columbus Day itself, I would choose that day. The Monday of a holiday weekend isn't as bad because people are traveling home again. I'd prefer the following day (Tuesday) but Monday would be better than Saturday or Sunday.

Agree with PP. And I would follow Josh's advice from last year. It'll probably be the same since it's still the Monday of a holiday weekend, local schools are likely still in session and it's still a party day.
