Hi All

Love this forum.

Wondering if some of you can give me a few suggestions...

My wife are will be spending two days in the Magic Kingdom the week of April 10th. I have sort of planed out that we will be spending the first day in Avertureland, Frontierland and Liberty Square - and - the second day in Fantasyland, Mickey's Toontown, and Tomorrowland. We'll also be taking our time along Main street that second day as well. We won't be traveling with kids so more than likely won't be spending much time in Fantasyland or Mickey's Toontown.

We'll be staying off site and having breakfast in our room so I'm looking for some lunch suggestions at the Magic Kingdom. I really don't want to make lunch ADR's for either of those two days since I honestly don't want to work the day around a reservation time. (I do have dinner ADR's at Tony's, Fulton's and the Rose & Crown in Epcot).

So, if you had to pick a decent counter service lunch place or a sit down place where I might not need a lunch ADR, where would you go for lunch on:

Day 1: Aventureland, Frontierland & Liberty Square

And where would you go on day two:

Day 2: Fantasyland, Mickey's Toontown, Tomorrowland, Main Street

At this point, I'm just a little overwhelmed by all the restaurant options...

Thanks!!!!!

The Magic Kingdom is relatively easy to cross from one side to the next, so I would not worry about which lands you'll be in and getting to a different one to find something to eat.

For your Day 2 option, I would go to Cosmic Ray's. I really liked the ribs.

For your Day 1 option, I can't really recommend anywhere over on that side of the park (because the only place I've eaten was at Pecos Bills and it wasn't something I liked). However, while you're over there, Aloha Isle serves Dole Whip and Dole Whip Floats which are one of my favorite snacks at WDW.

I also like turkey legs, which can be found in Frontierland.

I agree with Columbia Harbour House in Liberty Square.

We have also had nice experiences with eating at Tomorrowland Noodle Station and watching (from a distance) the show in front of the castle or the afternoon parade. This might be a nice option for you if you don't plan to take the time to get a good spot/watch them in their entirety since you aren't traveleing with kids. (Although, I would recommend taking the time to do so at least once if you are going to be there two days ;) )

I don't think there will be any TS (sit down) restaurants taking walk ins the week you are going. If you want a TS you should consider an ADR.
If you are good with CS, I would also recommend Columbia Harbour House in Liberty Square or Pecos Bill in Frontierland.
Cosmic Rays in Tomorrowland has lots of choices and good value
Enjoy

The only CS we would rec. would be Columbia Harbour House. We enjoy The Plaza, and Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch, these would require ADR's but you can always cancel them with no penalty.

The first day, I recommend Columbia Harbor House. You don't mention where you'll be staying. The second day, take the monorail to one of the resorts counter service restaurants.

I would recommend Columbia Harbor House for day 1. I like the food and the atmosphere. Even on the most crowded days at MK, we've always been able to easily find a table and have a good break from the crowds. (There's additional seating upstairs.)

For day 2, I would do Pinocchio Village Haus. (I'm assuming that this won't be affected by any of the Fantasyland expansion closings. :confused3) It's a very cute, storybook-like restaurant. My husband likes the meatball sub, and my daughter loves to sit by the window and wave to people riding by on It's a Small World. However, others will recommend Cosmic Ray's, which does have more variety in food choices.

Hey - I just realized that we'll be there the same week!! :yay: I can't wait!!

Here is my take on the CS places in MK - :)
1. Columbia Harbour House (Liberty Square) - one of my favorite CS places in the Parks. LOVE the Fried Shrimp Plate and Apple Tart/Pie thingy.
2. Cosmic Rays (Tomorrowland) - Nice variety, decent food.
3. Casey's Corner (Main St.) - Typical Hot Dogs & Corn Dog Nuggets.
4. Pecos Bills (Frontierland) - skip it. We keep going back because it always smells good but the burgers here are nasty. DH tried the taco salad in Aug and he didn't appreciate it for the rest of the day. :rolleyes1
5. Pinocchio Village Haus (Fantasyland) - Typical CS pizza - did enjoy the Mediterranean Salad.

HTH! :)

The MK isn't that big; you can probably get from one side to the other in 10 minutes. I think you'll find yourself crossing the hub (the center point in front of the castle) more often than you think.

I know you don't want to be tied to lunch reservations, but I would really recommend making one for lunch (not dinner) at the Liberty Tree Tavern. It's not much more than 5 minutes walk from any point in the park. We like having a sit down lunch to relax and recharge ourselves for the afternoon and evening.

As for Counter Service - we like Cosmic Ray's for the food and the "lounge act." The Mickey waffles and funnel cakes at Sleepy Hollow look tempting too. Also have a Dole Whip float or Root Beer Float at Aloha Isle.

Thanks for all the responses!!!

Look like Columbia Harbour House is a no brainer given the feedback here.

Probably go with Cosmic Ray's our second day. Although....

That's not a bad idea (the relax and recharge part)...

flamingglobessigmund - I actually thought about taking a break from the park and going to one the resorts but.....I can't leave the park because I won't have park hopper tickets.

You can leave the park and visit one of the resorts even if you don't have Park Hopper tickets - you can re-enter the same park during 1 day. :) You just can't enter a different park.

You don't need park hopper tickets to get back into the same park you just left on the same day.

We took the monorail from MK to the Contemporary, ate lunch and went back to MK for the evening.

Yes you can ~ you can't go to another park, but you can leave the Magic Kingdom and re-enter later in the day.

Ditto on Columbia Harbor House.

Also, I just wanted to mention that i believe Mickey's Toontown is closing in February.

We LOVE Cosmic Rays. Probably our favorite food in MK. It has something for everyone! We also enjoy Columbia Harbor House and Pecos Bills for your Day 1.
