I just read somewhere about the barber shop in MK on Main St.
Typically I associate a barber shop with boys haircuts. My DD(4) has been growing out her hair for BBB -- which will take place on the first morning of our trip (in 21 days!! but who's counting?...:rolleyes1 ) I'd LOVE to get her hair cut after BBB day is over, but don't want to have to travel to another resort to get that done. Does anyone know if the barber shop on main street in MK will do a haircut for a 4year old girl? Just curious.... THANKS!

Yes, they cut my DD's hair when she was 2 1/2 and then styled it with pink and purple hairgel and pixie dust. She loved it! The cost for the cut and style with a nice tip was $20 total. I still think it's one of those rare bargins at Disney.

yes...its 14$ for haircut plus tip. they also gave my daughter mickey ears.

PERFECT!!!!!! She will LOVE that! Thank you for the replies and the great photos!!!! Now she can come back from vacation and go to school with a nice clean cut and I won't have to wait to schedule something w/ our salon when we get home. :cheer2:

Where is the Barber Shop exactly? I would love to take my 2 year old son. He actually likes getting his haircut and getting it cut at MK would make his day. We might just make it a part of our monthly trip to the parks...lol. Our kids cut salon charges $17 for a haircut...so not much difference.

as soon as you walk onto mainstreet its in the corner on the left...kind of hidden next to the big door where the parade starts or stops.

Thank you so much. I certainly never would have thought to look anywhere in any of the parks for a barber shop...lol. That is awesome.

Is the barber shop on Main Street just for children? Can kids at heart go too??

Oh, not just for kids at all! We have a friend who got his hair cut and had blue sparkles added. Beautiful!

The above pictures are wonderful. I had my hair done at BBB for my wedding, and I think I like the Barbershop style better :rotfl2:

Oh, and I forgot to say: girls don't really have to "grow" their hair out for BBB. All you need is enough lengthf for them to get a small top-knot on top of their head. All the "hair" you see in the styles are extensions of fake hair. I still have mine :rotfl2:

Thanks for the extra info! Do the extensions cost extra? Mostly we were growing out her bangs so she can pull them off her face --- I love her with her hair off her face! Then -- on our extra park day -- MK here we come and CHOP! Showed her the pics posted here -- she's all excited to get it cut now!

Just FYI, my daughter has bangs, and they offered her the option of styling her bangs to the side or pulling them back for "no bangs." My daughter chose the second option, and they plastered those babies down with gel and hairspray. It was such a dramatic difference to see her without bangs. She looked so much older!

It sounds like maybe you want to grow the bangs out anyway, but don't worry about them still being too short. The FGITs have plenty of gel, and they're not afraid to use it! :rotfl:

No kidding, Fairy Godmothers have no fear with that hair gel...my daughter's hair stayed up in her princess do for 4 days! And she does not have long hair! below the chin bob with bangs, even the bangs stayed glued down. Wierd bc it neverw looked overly stiff. I tossed that cute hair extension bc it was starting to mat! Next trip (january 2009) I am packing a shower cap!

LOL, yes no bangs is not a problem! They put so much "product" into my hair that I could hear the girl who was my "flautist and singer" in the restroom of our Villa actually crying while she washed her hair out! But it had been in for only a few hours, so probably was really set!

The price of the extensions is included in the BBB makeover. I think the crown may be a small extra charge.

I must say that the "Fairy Godmothers in Training" at BBB are so very sweet. They were totally blown away by the four of us from my wedding party being adults and just ran with it and made it so much fun. :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Another barber shop question... HOW do you wash that stuff out? Did you try to pick the confetti stuff out first? I don't want to clog the Disney shower drains. :rotfl: I'm thinking this will be a good option for my younger daughter. She's a little unsure of BBB because she's worried they'll pull her hair too much. She still has a few months to think about it, but a little trim and some confetti (at a fraction of BBB cost) would probably make us all happy! She could always use big sister's BBB make-up, which is all she really wants, anyway.

Also, the barber shop is walk-in only, right? Does that mean they don't open until the park does? Thanks!

My daughter, now 14, tries to always get a haircut there.

A few years ago my mother also decided to get a haircut there. They had been traveling for about 6 weeks and needed it, too! She said it was one of the best cuts she has had a many years! She is so peticular that I was really worried because WDW (crowds in general) is something she doesn't enjoy as much as the rest of the family! ;) It was cheaper than she was paying at home, so that was a bonus!! She would def have Micheal cut her hair again.

Sadly, our vacation is over....
The morning of my 4 year old's BBB appt, she WHIMPED OUT!!! Canceled the appt... took her to MK the following Friday for a haircut at the Barber Shop. She chopped off about 4 1/2 inches and now had a chin length bob. She looks adorable. They put the 'pixie dust' in her hair too - she liked that! If I remembered how to post photos, I'd put before, during and after shots here!!

OH no... Did you have to still pay for BBB? I knw they have a 24 hour cancel ploicy. Did they let it slide???

I called the main ressie line, and explained to the rep that we were at POP, and my DD had an appt in 2 hours but refused to go. I told her she was up late, and complained of a stomach ache the day before (and from that point on, every day on the trip....) and didnt' know if maybe she was just tired, or whimping out or not feeling well. I asked if I canceled, if I'd have to pay at all. She wasnt' sure, put me on hold, and came back to say "if you cancel right now, there will not be a charge" -- so I asked DD4 one more time if she wanted to go, and she shook her head no. So I canceled it. No penalty.
