Magic Kingdom Haircuts for girls?

My daughter got her first haircut from Michael at the Barber Shop last year. It was awesome! She got a certificate and Minnie Ears and it was a great cut. One of the other patrons told us he comes to Disney just to get his hair cut from Michael.

We are planning it again this year!

I too am looking for answers to this question? We are going to Disney in January & my 1 year old daughter has not had a 1st haircut, & I think this would be so much fun for her! She will be almost 2 when we go, so her hair should be nice & long by then. I just want it trimmed, but it would still be a memoriable occasion!:cool1:

Just walk-in. No appts taken. Tell Michael that it is her first haircut and he really makes it special. Even keeps tons of hair and add Mickey confetti to it, minnie ears, certificate. It is awesome!

Just thought I'd add a picture of my DD's color/glitter at the barber shop this week. It was fun, but it'll be awhile before we do it again. It takes forever to find all of the glitter!

Where is the Barber Shop exactly? I would love to take my 2 year old son. He actually likes getting his haircut and getting it cut at MK would make his day. We might just make it a part of our monthly trip to the parks...lol. Our kids cut salon charges $17 for a haircut...so not much difference.

Ok, now you are just being mean posting this!! :lmao: I am missing the MK so much today! You are so lucky! Forget going once a month! Go every day you can! :cool1: :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

Thanks for posting about this...my DD and DS would love this! They both need haircuts too, so it will be perfect for our trip coming up!

Does anyone know how busy this place gets? Is it something we should do as soon as we walk in the gates? Or could we save it for later in the day?
Thanks!

OH no... Did you have to still pay for BBB? I knw they have a 24 hour cancel ploicy. Did they let it slide???

When Disney tells you they will charge if you cancel or forget to show up to a reservation they do not actually charge you. I have a close friend in Guest Relations and she says when guests come in saying they forgot about a reservation she will call a random Disney phone number and pretend to speak to a representative from the restaurant/wherever and make a big deal about it...but you in fact don't get charged...

Yes this place gets busy. Go eithe at opening or go during the parade. The line can get way out of the door.

As for how to wash out the glitter, my daughter went in the pool and it came out pretty good. It didnt' leave any colors in the pool. We put a towel on her pillow the night she had it done so it wouldn't stain the pillowcase.

I have pretty short hair, and I'm thinking of getting a trim and some sparkles for MNSSHP this week - do adults ever do this?

(oh, and in case any of my DS's are reading this - I cut my hair :cool1: !)

Great question! I would love to get my bangs trimmed and perhaps a little sparkles for my 40th next year! Although I don't have a trip planned yet, it's my goal to get there the end of June for my Bday. :goodvibes

Do it!
My sister and I were there a couple weeks ago and she got her hair cut. Oh...and she's in her 30's!

We had just finished the Keys to the Kingdom tour and it was really hot and humid that day. My poor sister has really thick hair and wanted to get it cut before we left but didn't get around to it. We had discussed her going to the MK barber shop so when the tour ended and we were right there I suggested checking out the line.

There were only about 4 people ahead of her so I think she waited about 30 minutes. (I shopped!) She ended up with the cutest chin length layered bob! She also said it was one of the best cuts she had ever had. She'd do it again! While she was there, she was the only adult however the barber said he has a lot of regular adult guest who come just to have him cut their hair.

Keep in mind- they aren't going to wash your hair or do extensive styling- but that's fine if you're getting a wash-and-go kind of cut. Also, my sister did not escape being "pixie-dusted"! And that confetti pops up for day! We left mouse-keeping an extra tip that first day because there was confetti bits just about everywhere! But I say - DO IT! What a great experience!

Don't worry at all about "pretty short" hair. They do adult men all the time, and they also get colored gel and sparkles :rotfl2:

I got my hair "pixied" for my 40th bday on new years eve last year! It was so much fun. I'd say go early though if you could! I didnt get a cut, just the fun stuff and I think it was about $8.

I had a woman, and she smoothed my hair down, asked what colors, glitter I wanted and then she just went to town!! There were lots of others getting pixied too - they spiked up the little boys hair with color, and then would put a mickey head on the back of their head.

I also saw a little boy get his first haircut - they were wonderful with him. The barber took the time to get the baby used to him being close to him, stuck stickers on him etc. Not a tear out of the baby, just giggles. He got a little hair cute, certificate and mouse ears!!! Sooooo Cute!!

Yes, the Main Street Barber Shop stylists are happy to work with kids of all ages - here's a photo of my late 30's DH after Michael had some fun with him... :goodvibes
