Magic Kingdom day with no rides

I have accidentally run into the Frotierland Hoedown twice, both times in midafternoon. I believe it always takes place near the front of the Country Bears area.

Ask around and CMs might be able to let you know when it's going to happen, although it is flashmob style, so you may just have to get lucky. It's super fun.

Listen to/watch the amazing piano player(s) at Caseys, visit Crystal Arts on Main Street and watch the glass blowers, hunt for hidden Pascals (10) in the area outside the Tangled Restrooms, pin trade, catch The Dapper Dans, mail yourself a postcard from the Magic Kingdom, pop into the shops you never have time to visit and buy yourself a treat from the Confectionary.

I heard there is a Pirate Scavenger hunt in Adventureland, though I haven't done it yet. We miss the old shooting gallery...we'd stop by there on the way through Frontierland, which is a great place to view the cavalcade parade, if they are still doing that.

It's been a long time, but I did an MK day just before Covid and we did the Pirate Scavenger hunt and really enjoyed this -- I was in my late 50s at the time with two twenty-somethings (my son and nephew).

We also started the day riding the red buses down Mainstreet USA and waving at everyone to see if they would wave back. I tried my princess wave.

We also as adults had a blast getting our pictures taken with two different princesses.

I love the Dapper Dans.

Best day ever at the MK!

I love though doing some of the old time lame rides too -- Carousel of Progress, People Mover, Tiki Birds (nostalgia for me though probably more than anything - I remember doing these with my grandma). These usually have really short lines and the twenty-somethings love doing these too.

Just pick a subject and photograph as much of it as possible. Signs, trash cans, flowers, attraction signs, you name it.

Gotcha. I’ve seen some posts like this. Restroom signs, lamps, and trash cans. Really demonstrates Imagineers’ attention to detail!

The older rides are my faves. They are classic for good reason! The ones you mention we will definitely do, just on a different day of our trip.

Grandmas are special. My maternal grandmother will be my favorite person, always.

Great idea! I saw this once, by happenstance, but it would be great to see it again. Husband is a veteran and would love this.

A couple of comments: We were there last week, and in addition to the vehicles on Main Street just after park opening, they were also out for a bit in early afternoon. Don't know if they still do this, but they used to have a veteran participate in the flag ceremony. I think it was first come, first served, and you had to sign up at Guest Relations at City Hall, so you might want to ask. If you just want to watch, you might try for a dinner reservation at Tony's for around that time and ask for an outdoor table. Also, have you thought about shows? We like Carousel of Progress (OK, sort of a ride), Monsters Inc., and Mickey's Philharmagic best, but occasionally also visit Enchanted Tiki Room and Hall of Presidents. Country Bears also recently reopened but we haven't seen it yet.

You can check out the firehouse near the entrance. It has some interesting things. The Hall of Presidents is interesting. You can do some non-crowded things like Monsters, Inc, Mickey's Philharmonic, Country Bears, The People Mover and Carousel of Progress. You can ride the riverboat, too. And there is always the railroad around the park. If you get bored, you can venture out to the resort monorail and check out the Christmas decorations at the Grand Floridian and the Contemporary. You can even take a boat ride to Fort Wilderness or Wilderness Lodge. The WL has some great Christmas decorations.
