Would I be just totally crazy to try and go into the Magic Kingdom after 3pm the day after Thanksgiving?? Is it going to be totally unbearable??? I was thinking about going to EPCOT that day & MGM on that Saturday, then hit the MK on Sunday, but with the MK open until 11pm on Friday and 2 showings of Spectro, I was wondering if it would be better to do that. I was also thinking of maybe hitting EPCOT for a few hours, have dinner at the Contemporary, then head over to the MK for the evening. What do you think???

I've never tried to tour the MK during that time period. I'll just bump this back to page one for you and I'm sure some of our veterans will have some advice for you.

Any comments out there??????? Should I skip the MK and just go over to EPCOT??? What about doing EPCOT in the afternoon, then heading for the MK for dinner & 2nd showing of Spectro?

HELP!!!

The absolute worst, most miserable crowd conditions I've ever encountered at WDW were at the Magic Kingdom on the Friday after Thanksgiving.

Silly me . . .I foolishly thought that folks would be at home sharing the holiday with family!!

It was gridlock: elbow-to-elbow, and the only way you could move was with the crowd, especially in Fantasyland. Heaven help you if you wanted to "swim upstream". The SkyWay was still there so we got in line, thinking we could get to Tomorrowland quicker that way. There was even a 45-minute wait for that; guess lots of others thought the same thing. . To sum it all up, no more MK visits at Thanksgiving for us!!

Early entry or late hours = big crowds, right? I'm sure the fact that 11/28 is the first day of the AP discounts won't help matters.

We'll be there that same time but we'll only be going to Epcot and MGM since we'll be staying at the YC. Hopefully those parks won't be quite as bad? (fingers crossed)

I have to admit that the Friday after Thanksgiving was just about as bad as Thanksgiving evening at the MK.

Last year we went to AK, the friday after Thanksgiving and it really wasn't bad at all.

Once Friday passes, the crowds lighten up alot.

Thanks for your advice. Did you find the MK completely packed through closing or did it lighten up a bit? I'm thinking I will go to the hotel, unpack, then head over to EPCOT for the rest of the day. Do MGM on Saturday, then scoot over to the MK later that night to catch Spectro. Finally, will hit a full day at the MK on Sunday. Thanks again everyone!! :jester: :smooth:

I was thinking of doing EPCOT on Friday, then MGM on Saturday and the MK on Sunday. Since Spectro is only being shown the Friday (twice) and Saturday (once) Thanksgiving weekend and then not again until the following Saturday, I was wondering if I should do MGM 1/2 the day, then head over to the MK for the rest of the day to catch Spectro.

What do you think?

Sounds like a good plan and the best of your options.:earsboy: :sunny: :earsgirl:

Since we're offsite with some family members for Thanksgiving Day, I thought this would be a pretty good schedule:
  • Friday: Check in early, hit MGM and/or the resort pools. Maybe just the new MK fireworks show Friday night.
  • Saturday: Epcot, including Candlelight Processional. :)
  • Sunday Day: Golf for Grumpy37; Epcot and/or resort pools for the others.
  • Sunday Evening: MVMCP at MK :)
  • Monday: MK, hopefully with lighter crowds.
We're planning on getting our dose of AK/AKL the first trip, I hope that makes getting around to everywhere from the YC/BC/BW a lot easier.
