Magic Kingdom Cleanliness Issues

CMs that operate rides have very specific, safety-related responsibilities. It is best not to distract them from something that could be critical to ensuring the safety of your ride and that of the other guests. It there was a cement brick in the log, that would be one thing, but a soda cup is probably not dangerous.

Yeah, I don't know about that. Granted, this is true to an extent, but there are others who simply stand by and to take 2 seconds to grab a cup, would not do any harm.

Look at it this way - What happens when you get off of a ride and you leave your hat or pocketbook in the ride? The CM always takes it out (if they notice it), and gives it to you. My friend left his wallet in one of those bag things on Space Mountain, and the CM took it out and gave it to him. No difference.

I didn't want to go into more detail, but to me it sounded like Bicker made it sound like we did something wrong nt.
I'm sorry; that wasn't my intent. Rather, I was just pointing out that the CMs have specific safety-related duties to perform, and therefore may not be inclined to vary from the established procedures. With all that they have to do, I wouldn't be surprised if they thought you wanted them to hold the cup for you, not realizing that it wasn't yours. Anything is possible, so I'd give the CMs the benefit of the doubt.

Regardless, it sure is disturbing, reading the further details, that perhaps a guest deliberately vandalized the log. Such behavior is intolerable. If we really have to start building systems to guard against that and/or address the results of such vandalism, with any great frequency, we might as well give up on having a theme park, since the cost for either having a CM to clean up after each potential vandal, or having a security officier to watch over each potential vandal, would be prohibitive.

This thread is interesting. I thought Splash was actually looking better last week than it did the last time I rode in '03.

Disney atrophy seems to be a cyclical thing. I remember a trip in the mid-80's with my parents. We couldn't believe how the park had slipped. The CMs actually looked surly. There was trash laying around the park. Rides were dirty and broken. Then the Disney Rennaissance came through and spiffed it all up. I have a feeling the same will happen soon.

We were in the magic kngdom in the last week of sep. and they shut down the ride because all the characters inside weren't working. i don't know how long the ride was shut down for. :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :cool1: :cool1:

When I was at WDW in 1996 I felt like Disney was falling behind in preventative maintenance. This time I thought the place looked much better.
