Hoping someone here can help....I'm helping my SIL and her family plan their trip to Disney and thought her kids would enjoy getting their hair done at the barbershop. We saw many kids (boys and girls) with their hair all colorful and glittery when were there last week. Can they get this colored gel and glitter done at the barbershop in MK? Do they need to get a haircut also or can they just get the style? Anyone kow how much it costs? I thought it would be a good alternative instead of BBB. TIA!

We were there 8/22, saw many kids (and adults) having this done. No haircut necessary! I think it's about $17 (but am not 100% sure) and I think it's a terrific alternative to BBB! I felt so bad for all those little girls, dolled up in expensive princess costumes and shoes with plasticized hair, in the 90+ degree heat and humidity!

I had mine done about a year ago, and it was $17 for the cut. They will put colored gel & pixie dust in your hair. I do not know if they will apply the gel & dust if you do not get a cut. It is a great experience, maybe a hidden treasure.

thanks! I know...I kept seeing all these little girls in their princess dresses and I couldn't imagine how hot they must have been!!!

My girls all had their hair with colored gel and pixie dust for $7.50 each in December. They did not have their hair cut. One had the gel/glitter put in her ponytail and the 2 others had their hair twisted into a bun with the gel/glitter. It looked great, they got many compliments and I had all 3 done for less than BBB for one. It is also a good alternative for those who are a little too old for BBB.

it was $7.50 when we did it as well. $17 is for the haircut.

Are appointments necessary or can you just walk in and ask for the service?

You can walk in. We had to wait about 30 minutes for a cut this time, but we've been there before & had no wait at all...

It was well worth it & a hidden gem:)

thank you!!! I think my neices are a good age for BBB, but I don't think SIL will want to pay the price, plus my nephew can go and get his hair done at the barbershop too! $7.50 is a steal!

We were there 2 weeks ago. Here's the details I know. Kids cut:$14.00 (includes pixie dust if requested) Pixie dust and gel $7.50. Adult cuts are $17.00. BBB will take appointments for boys, so this would eliminate your wait at the HBS. The hours are 9am-5pm daily. Get there around 8:45 to avoid a long wait.
This was our experience: We tried to get in the barbershop at 10am and it was packed. Too hard to tell who was getting a cut and who was waiting. We walked out. We were there on Wed., day 2 of TS Fay. The barbers were sitting waiting for customers at 11 am...unheard of! I'll be happy to email pictures...just pm me!
By the way, baby's first haircut comes with free mickey ears that say "first haircut" along with a certificate and hair saved for you.

I was wondering if the barbershop did french braids. It would be cool if disney french braided my hair and put pixie dust in it. Any help would be great.

Thanks so much for this. At 2.5 DD isn't old enough for BBB, but is a little princess and would love the experience. I'm going to get the pixie dust and gel in her hair when we're there in November.

there are no appts. it's first come first served everyday. Worth it to head over there as soon as they open.

My DD and DBF and I (all adults..., I mean kids at heart) have done this a couple of times. It's a lot of fun and you get a lot of attention afterwards. Here's a couple of pictures.

This was at Christmastime and they made DD look like Rudolph. She has a red mickey glitter on her nose.

DBF has a mickey head glittered on the side of her head.

Depending on the time of year, they offer different colors of gel. Last October, they had orange glitter for Halloween.

We were there in August and I had my boys hair cut. The barber told me they would be phasing out doing any non haircuts because they are licensed barbers/beauticians and the people that are in BBB are not. I am not sure if this is in effect yet but that is what he said. He said since BBB is open, people can go there so others that want a real haircut will not have so long of a wait. This was just him talking to me so I don't know if it will happen or not but don't be surprised if they stop doing gel only. Worst case though, get your kids hair trimmed, it is still a lot cheaper than BBB.

THANK YOU, OP, for asking this question - we just got back and I was wondering the same thing! I saw a lot of people with that glitter stuff in their hair. We will have to try this out on our next trip! I will admit it- I had one of those little girls walking around in her princess dress with me (though her dress was bought at home on consignment for $4!!) We liked the BBB experience, but once is enough I think! I brought her extra clothes with her so she could change the second she complained - and suprisingly she never did!
