Magic Key Program

It’s interesting to see how many people are sure they’ll get the Dream Key.

I can probably live with the Believe Key, as it will be important for me to have access during the summer. The extra 5% discount on food and 10% on merch would be nice to have, but i don‘t think I spend enough to make the break even worth it.

The real savings comes from parking. Assuming parking goes up to $30, it would take 30 visits in a year to make up the difference in cost of $450. As much as I’d like the highest pass, I feel like they’ve priced it with too much of a gap for my needs.

What do we think is the likely scenario based on the previous annual pass experience: if I buy a 3-5 day multi pass and start day 1 a week prior to 8/25, then on the last day of my use of the pass, do I have to go to the physical ticket booth to upgrade the pass to the Magic Key Program? And if so, do both my spouse and I need to be present?
Yes you both need to be there if I recall.

Based on what I've read up to this point, it looks like the Key will activate on the first day it's used to enter a park. I'm over here chomping at the bit to go to DTD and buy a bunch of stuff, but obviously will want my 20% discount. Will I need to make a part reservation and enter the park to get my Key to work for the discounts in DTD? I'd really like to have a non-park DTD visit as my first return visit.

From what I read in the fine print it activates the first time you use it for parking or park entrance.

Am I missing something? Wouldn’t it be 15 visits, not 30?

At the believe level it would take 30 visits to break even on the cost of parking with the dream pass.

I am going with the dream pass not because only because of the higher discounts and parking inclusion, but there are too many Saturdays blocked out ah the believe level for how I visit the parks.

I believe the poster is making the direct comparison between Believe Key (50% off parking) and Dream Key (Free Parking). Assuming parking does go up to $30 (good bet IMHO), you're saving an additional $15 beyond Believe. $450 (difference b/t Dream/Believe Key Costs) divided by $15 (additional Dream parking savings)= 30 Trips to break even.

There is no physical card by default. You can get one, but you may have to pay $20 for it.
Thank you! I wasn't sure.

Every location (CS and TS) where we've dined so far this summer in DL, DCA, and DTD has asked for the Legacy Discount Ticket on our phones and won't even accept a physical AP card for dining discounts. (CMs said the card scanners were removed.) Using our phones was the only option given.

Thank you, this makes sense since even places like Costco they are having you hold up your card to scan to avoid touching and I guess contraction in that form. I am just nervous about either my phone dying or if they don't allow it to be in your apple wallet not being able to access it because of connectivity issues.

Yes, because they will need to take a photo of everyone who upgrades to a key pass at the time of the upgrade.

We have a trip already planned for Thanksgiving week (Wed-Fri), 3 day park hoppers (part of a package staying at the DLH) and I’m trying to understand all the ins and outs. If we wanted to upgrade to one of the keys (but one that has those days of Thanksgiving blocked out), can we upgrade our first day in the parks but still be able to use the following two days that we already have reserved (even though they would be blocked out for the Magic Key plan we upgrade to), or would we not be able to use the remaining two days of our reserved park hoppers since they are blockout days (Thanksgiving Day and Friday after)? Hopefully that makes sense!

You wouldn’t be able to use the remaining 2 days since they are blocked out. In this instance I would upgrade on the last day. In the past a blockout doesn’t count against you on your upgrade day.

Oh, thank you! So I would be able to upgrade on the last day? I was thinking it needed to be the first day in the parks using our park hoppers to apply the cost of the tickets to the magic key, but that’s good to know. We’ve never upgraded before so I wasn’t sure and with all the fine print on these new magic keys I was a little confused how it worked.

Nope just by the end of the day on the last day of use. Your pass will be back dated to the first day of use on the ticket though.

I am going to be curious to see if this remains the same with the reservation system. When people rolled tickets into the 3-day CA resident deal, they had to be able to re-reserve the day to get back in.
This happened to me when I upgraded at the park on the day they released the 3-day CA deal. I lost my reservation for that day and the CM had to re-reserve it for me. I don’t know if it was fully booked or he overrode it or what. I wish I would have asked. I do know it was tricky. He had to ask a lead to help and it took some time. And he had me screen shot my RotR boarding group codes before he pushed it all through just in case the changes made them poof (it didn’t).
