Magic Key Program

I looked at the benefits of the Key closely. It did not say that any of the keys get discounts at the Resort Hotels? Under the old AP program, discounts existed.
AM I reading this right? Are these benefits gone?

It said there would be more benefits coming in the future. They left it open.

"Plus, enjoy periodic offers available throughout the year that only Disney can provide."

So, if I upgrade my 2 day passes, I have to pay the difference ($1109 each) right then, no payment plan? That kinda bums me a bit, because we just had to replace my transmission and our refrigerator to the tune of $8000 last month. I'm a bit cash poor right now and really need to use the payment plan.
Hmmm, what to do?

From what I can gather, you wouldn't need to book the 25th and use the one day hoppers. Just visit the booth and upgrade those hoppers anytime after the 25th. You don't have to actually use the one day hopper to apply the cost towards the new pass.
Thanks, that's a helpful clarification for those reading along!

In my case, since she has her first half-day of school in the morning, I'd rather just enter the parks on the hopper and not deal with the madness at the ticket booth (and also not worry that eager new APs may have filled up reservations before I can get there around 12:30). Then, her dad can pick her up after a few hours and I can brave the ticket booth, upgrade the pass, and head back in solo to check out any new perks!

The timing is funny because just yesterday I told her we'd have to decide between Downtown Disney and Knotts if she wanted to keep her "first day of school" visit tradition alive... but maybe not!

OK. But I think they would have said it upfront no? That was a nice perk that I used and many others did as well.

If your a California resident then you should be good with the monthly right?

I guess the opened benefits could be added. I am worried about the Resort hotel room discounts. "Plus, enjoy periodic offers available throughout the year that only Disney can provide." Maybe we get a discount during special promotions. I will miss the availability hotel calendar!

Is there info on how many guests you can bring in to the Magic Key terrace? Also, if we purchase a pass and start making reservations, does the expiration date go off the purchase date or the date of first entry into the park?

It also seems like they've rounded up the change on the monthly payment plan but we may need some data points on that.

6 total on the reservation for the terrace. Limited by the table sizes available.

What is the benefit of the monthly payment plan? Can you stop for a few months, then resume? I don't see the huge benefit except for floating the costs across 12 months.

Flex pass holders in the past - Enchant looked like the same until hit the calendar and that's was a gut punch :(

So many Saturdays blocked as well as most long weekends blocked with no opportunity to 'reserve' like flex pass allowed even on high demand days. -- would think they would allow that with closer in demand level pull -say 14 or 30 days.

Three no-shows is pretty generous, honestly.

What keeps a Dream holder from just booking every single weekend “just in case” and then releasing them the day before, but then sometimes you’re not sure so you just maybe no-show…

I mean, ultimately that will lead to a lot of calendar movement, which is potentially not the worst thing, but… yeah…

You have just described what I’m probably going to be doing. (I hate required reservations). I was afraid to post about it cuz I imagine it’ll make people mad.

It makes me wonder about what “buckets” will be in use. Will everyone be pulling from one bucket? Will APs have a different bucket? Will different AP levels have different buckets?

Regardless, I know I’ll be disappointed if I get the top key and it’s difficult to get reservations for the days I want to visit.

But that’s a risk I guess I’m gonna take because I’m too impatient to wait and see how it goes!!

You can only hold up to 6 reservations at that level so you just can't book every weekend.

The monthly payment plan is a zero interest loan, essentially. No, you cannot skip payments. You must leave them a valid credit card to charge monthly. If your card is declined, they suspend your pass for nonpayment.

Does anyone remember if special event tickets were eligible for upgrades in the past? I can’t remember. We have Oogie Boogie tickets I might consider upgrading.
I think they were in 2019. I remember being shocked it popped up on the app to update my Oogie boogie ticket because I thought special event tickets weren’t upgradable. Not sure about this year though.

For me it made it easier to put out $225 a month instead of $4K at one time for 6 passes with no interest like a credit card.
