Magic Key Program

I think your glass of wine is too small.

The new AP program with advanced reservations is a little limiting for me.
For the price, you would think Disney would allow more than 6 reservations at a time...

Has anyone seen the full Block-Out calendar?

No, I know that. I’m talking about upgrading full-price one-day parkhoppers.

ETA: I do appreciate the response! 😊 I think that with the timing of the 3-day resident deal and the APs dropping, there are going to be a lot of people confused and trying to upgrade those.
Ahhhh poo. I was hoping I could upgrade those. Ugh! Really annoyed I bought them at all!

Yeah. We have a 7 day trip planned and would need to get a 1 day hopper or something to guarantee that 7th day if we get a Magic Key.

So, if I upgrade my 2 day passes, I have to pay the difference ($1109 each) right then, no payment plan? That kinda bums me a bit, because we just had to replace my transmission and our refrigerator to the tune of $8000 last month. I'm a bit cash poor right now and really need to use the payment plan.
Hmmm, what to do?
💳

Can't wait!! We'll be buying the Dream Keys and I love the new name. We don't want the hassle of having to worry about the block out dates and want the freedom to be able to go to the DLR parks whenever we have time available (Of course, based on reservation availability. We've been playing this game already with existing passes). We have had outstanding trips to the resort since reopening day and if that's an inkling as to how it will be going forward, great! Excited to sign up for all the Disney bells and whistles! 😜:tink:$$$$

I never had any proclem making flex reservations even the weeks and months before the closure. I was in the park the day before the shut down snd had only booked that day a week before.
I didn't either, but now you have every ticket and every AP on a reservation system, whereas with flex, you were just competing with other flexers.
Me too, but we don't know how many reservations will be available, or if they are limiting by pass or by some other metric.
Yeah, the Flex is not a great comparison. In addition to the fact that it had a lot of non-reservation options and was the only “reservation” pass in town, hadn’t even been around a year, so you had people (like us) who were planning to renew to a Flex and hadn’t even had a chance yet.

One promising aspect of both the Flex and the current park reservations is how often availability changes. If you’re willing to stalk, you can find openings for previously-booked days pretty easily.

The reservation trends will be fascinating

The official D23 article mentions a 90 day booking window. I’d still like something on Disneyland.com to confirm…

Yeah, there’s currently a whole different reservation button if you’re a hotel guest.
How do you access this???

This might reduce crowding a little because the blackouts on all but the very highest pass seem to be a little heavier than before, especially on weekends, right?

Disneyland didn't really have an overall capacity problem, they had a busy day problem. If Disney can shift those guests to midweek or more off peak times, they're fine.

Agreed. 90 days would be a deal breaker for us. I do not want to buy the 1400$ pass only to find out I have to wait an extra 30 days to book park reservations.

So if you read the T&C, it sounds like the booking window will be variable. It will not be a set number of days the whole year. Language indicates it may vary.

Pursuant to the benefits and rules of the particular Pass, a Passholder may make and hold up to the number of park reservations allowed for their Pass type for a determined period of time. Once the maximum number of park reservations is made for such period, another park reservation may not be made until a currently held park reservation is used or cancelled.

Ummm, someone here posts the direct link sometimes, but I just saw it when I made reservations for my parkhoppers. If you go here, https://disneyland.disney.go.com/entry-reservation/ , you can see the heading for Theme Park Reservations for Resort Hotel Guests.

It's a separate bucket, although, apparently it's worse for August! I didn't actually click it when I was booking. It used to be better.

And your comment about the overall capacity vs busy day problem is SPOT ON.

The flip side of them "fixing" that is that the days of arriving and finding the park strangely and unexpectedly empty will be as gone as the extraordinarily busy days...

I wonder if the different passes will have different booking windows.

That would deal breaker. We have a 7 day trip planned (coming from the Midwest) and would have bought the 1400$ pass with intent to return early 12/2022 to get two trips out of it. But no way would we risk other resort guests or regular ticket holders getting a 30 day leg up on reservations and get shut out of the park.

I’d really like to see an official comment or statement from Disney on booking window.

Is there clarity on whether a Park Hopper reservation counts as one reservation or two?

You don't make a park hopper reservation. After 1pm you can go to any park you want as long as capacity allows.

We aren't sure about this. The language about park hopper is confusing. It seems to indicate that you have to book like you do now. Either one park or both parks, and you have to choose a first park if you want to park hop. Disney needs to clarify.

Seems pretty cut and dry to me. Taken from the magic key website:

“At this time, a park reservation is not required after visiting the first park; however, reservation requirements are subject to change.”
