Magic Key issue when upgraded from ticket - wrong expiration date

Anyone else run into this ? We upgraded to magic key from a used multi day ticket , and the Magic Key expiration date is too soon . They used the purchase date of our multi day ticket, and not the date the ticket was first scanned , so we lost two months . I’m not sure if we should go to the ticket booths to get this fixed on our next visit to the park, or use phone support. Phone support has been terrible for a unrelated issue with the Disneyland app, so we are hesitant to go there.

That happened to us when we upgraded to Flex Pass before the closure. Luckily we noticed before we left the parks.

Unless the next visit to the parks is soon, I would probably try tech support just to be able to say I tried to correct the issue.

That also happened to us with a Flex Pass upgrade pre-closure. But we were going back to the parks just a couple weeks later and I was able to get it adjusted at the ticket booths then though if our next visit had been farther away I probably would have tried over the phone.

Fortunately in our case, at least, it was obvious the date was wrong since it back dated to before Flex Pass was even an option so there was no argument or issue getting it fixed. Sounds like you are in a similar boat as you couldn't possibly have purchased a Magic Key 2 months ago so hopefully it will be an easy fix.

lol , forward is in a better direction than backwards! I imagine we will likely need to get this resolved on our next visit . We have all the screen shots and kept the original paper tickets at least . The scary thing is how untouchable guest support makes the mobile app sound , at least in our last problem

That happened to us a few years ago but it was noticed when we were still at disney. The real scary thing is two different castmembers told us the date was correct. We had bought tickets for a Christmas gift that wasn't used until April, upgraded to AP and they gave an expiration date of Nov. I had to keep saying no that's not right and took several hours to get it fixed.

Never mind , wrong park. Sorry I thought this was in disney world.

Where do you see the expiration? So you have to look on the website? I don’t see it on the app

My expiration date didn’t show on the app until I activated my magic key this past Sunday.
oh duh!! Lol. I’m obviously not fully awake yet. I’ll have to check and make sure our dates are correct when we use our keys for the first time. Wow. I feel silly. 🤦‍♀️

You should be able to see the expiration date on the magic key pass when you go to Disneyland app >the three lines> Tickets and passes > on the bottom of your magic key pass

You can try the chat function in the Disneyland app. Sounds like it should be an easy fix. FYI the turn around time on that chat is like 2 days though. Beats waiting on hold for something that isn’t urgent though.

This is "kind of" happening to me now. My expiration date was Jan 2021... for a pass that wasn't even available/made/announced at that time. I had a multiple day ticket (specifically the Military Salute that doesn't have the 13-day rule), went to upgrade, and got 1 year from the first use of that ticket (1/28/2020). I called the normal ticket phone number and they said the date would change to 364 days after my first use, but he didn't seem to understand. So I called the keyholder's phone number. She told me to wait to upgrade until I was in the park, and they could then adjust the date. We'll see in 2 weeks.
