Magic, January 16, 2010--Winter Day Castaways

Pacific Northwest Ballet, it's a mixed bill--Jiri Kylian's 'Petite Morte', a wonderful young German choreographer Marco Goecke's 'Mopey', a new ballet by Val Canaparoli 'Seasons', and a suite of dances from 'West Side Story'. I went to the dress rehearsal last week because I knew I'd only be able to go to one show--I usually go to two.

If you didn't guess, my tag-name is a reference to my not having a ballet bun. I'm a ballet teacher (I run a school). There's a ballet board where I have the name BunlessInSeattle.

As a former dancer, I could go for the rest of my life without seeing another Nutcracker. I blame the year that I did thirty shows in one season. Prior to this year, I've only had one year in the past 15 that I haven't participated in one in some way. This year we had to cancel the one I produce for our school, and while the reasons where not good ones, in a way I'm grateful for the respite for a year. It's almost like a mini-sabbatical.

My big weekend includes taking DD (9) to see Miley Cyrus! She has no idea, so I can't wait to spring the surprise on her:banana:
It will be her very first concert (mine was Barry Manilow - you never forget your first!;))

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

I hope you have fun. Let us know how suprised she is.

What are your kids wearing for the formal and semi-formal nights of the cruise?
I have to get my girls dresses. Just not sure what type I want to get them.

Well you could ALWAYS dress them in princess dresses. That's what my DD7 will be wearing. We have a couple of beautiful gowns from the disney store she wore last year. Hoping they still fit:confused3 But for little girls there is nothing more perfect for formal night than a Disney Princess Gown & Tiara:thumbsup2

Doing the happy dance , because today makes only 2 months til we fly into MCO to begin our vacation:dance3::cheer2::woohoo:

Welcome tekmnky!

Disney makes things so easy that as long as there are no computer malfunctions (even Pixie Dust can't keep that from happening) that port operations are incredibly smooth. The biggest problem occures when guest forget their proof of citizenship or bring the wrong thing. If you are using a birth certificate for citizenship remember that the hospital one with those cute footprints is not official! Nothing sadder than a family denied boarding because they did not bring the correct ID.

One of my best friends was a solo performer on the Wonder for a couple of contracts, I get all the dirt and more.

There is much more drama onboard the ship, LOL.

I hope everyone had a great weekend and that your shows were wonderful. We didn't do a darn thing at our house. That can be more fun sometimes. Now I have to work on my FE and gifts. I love planning for our cruises as much as sailing.

So . . . . any thoughts about an official name for our group? I'm almost finished with my FE and it is time to start thinking about gifts. Possibly thinking of something homemade with the group name on it if we come up with one.

I still have to sew the pockets on, but you can see the color scheme.

Hello All,

I booked this cruise the end of last month but haven't had a chance to jump in on the thread till now. My sailing party will be me (Bill) and two sisters (Maggie & Marilyn).

Looking forward to sailing with all of you!

Welcome aboard!!!:cool1:

I have a little secret to disclose. I am an ex-DCL castmember. ;) I use to work at the port untill March this year. This will be my first cruise not as a castmember. :sad1: It is going to feel so weird.

Very cool:cool2: Would love to know the inside scoop.

What are your kids wearing for the formal and semi-formal nights of the cruise?
I have to get my girls dresses. Just not sure what type I want to get them.

When our girls were small I dressed them in "formal" princess dresses...TOO CUTE! ... But alas, my girls are growing up and I doubt Kari (DD-9) would even consider wearing her Snow White dress in public :sad2: So, I'm hoping to find some "left over" party dresses after the holidays. They will probably be very cheap (and of course very picked over) by Jan 2nd.:rolleyes1

So . . . . any thoughts about an official name for our group? I'm almost finished with my FE and it is time to start thinking about gifts. Possibly thinking of something homemade with the group name on it if we come up with one.

I agree we need a name... I want to make t-shirts to wrap up with my girls Christmas presents. Does anyone know how to post a poll? Can it be done within the thread ?

Here Are Your Choices For Cruise Name!
:sail::sail::sail::sail::sail:
a) Winter Day Castaways
b) Evading Winter Castaways
c) Dude, where's My Anchor?
d)Buccaneers with Mouse Ears
e) Buccaneers with Mickey ears
d) something that YOU suggest!

Do it Chicago style...vote early, vote often.

.

I'm going to have to vote for Winter Day Castaways, but Buccaneers with Mouse Ears is a close second.

Yeah, I really like the Winter Day Castaways too. Gotta catchy sound to it:thumbsup2

Looks like Winter Day Castaways is in the lead!

Meanwhile....DH and I just sat at the bar with Bachelor Jason--and he's still with Mollie! I was starting to wonder if we lived in the same town, as we've never seen him before now.

I like Buccaneers with Mouse Ears pirate: and Winter Day Castaways.

Anyone planning a Black Friday shopping day? I've been reviewing the "leaked" friday ads. :surfweb: I like to plan well in advance so I know exactly where I'm going. DH thinks I'm insane (He may have a point:rolleyes1) Hoping for some pixie dust to find a Garmin at a bargain. Anyone got reccomendations on the Garmin vs TomTom vs Magellan?

Another vote for the Winter Day Castaways - we are most definitely escapees from the snow and ice when we travel in January! In fact, my FE is a snowman!

About the Garmin/Tom Tom/ Magellan. Gotta say I love my Garmin (we call her "Gretchen"). As one who could get lost in a paper bag she has saved my butt many times:goodvibes. It is a Garmin Nuvi 265wt with lifetime free traffic and bluetooth. At first I bought the smaller screen (3.5 inches) but then I traded it in for the 4.3 inch. I did lots of research on GPS and finally bought it on Amazon with free shipping. I just checked and it's about $193 right now. In fact, I am buying another one for my in-laws for Christmas (after using Gretchen they decided they had to have one!) Just my $.02.

We have a magellen and love it! I do have to say that my inlaws have a garmin and my dh says that he likes that one better simply because it has more features like an mp3 music player built in.
