Magic Goes Texan! Eight Crazy Nights (3/1/2013 Bahamas)

Is anyone else skipping dinner on our Disney day? I am thinking room service is a good option if we are not too tired to eat.

What should we expect to budget for on bored extras I wonder? This is our first cruise, and I want to make sure I budget enough....ha... Tips, pics, adult drinks, coffee etc. we are a family of 4, and a little nervous about just being able to charge stuff to room.

My wife is starting to work on our FEs (4 of them) tonight. I thank God I married someone who can sew! :goodvibes

I'm starting to work on some door signs. With four cabins I figure I need to start earlier than my normal one week out.

We've been brainstorming on the FE gifts. We've got the adults gifts designed. We're waiting to see how many join FE #2 to plan the kids gifts. Looking pretty slim right now. Guess we'll just wait and see. popcorn::

All of this is being done after the kids go to bed - I don't know if I mentioned it earlier, but we are surprising the kids with this trip. We're just telling them that we're all going to a beach house for the weekend in Galveston (we're only 3.5 hours away). Hopefully we can keep it a secret until we get to the port! :thumbsup2

So, anyone else working on cruise stuff tonight?

I've been working on my FE;s all week, I have 15 done....11 more to go!

I'm thinking we'll probably grab something in the park...back at the ship too late for dinnertime!

We will probably do this or grab a quick snack. I cant see getting dressed and eat a heavy dinner after a day at the park.

PS our tags also came in the mail today. :woohoo:

We are a family of 4 and on our last cruise(7 nights)we spent about 800$. I splurged and bought the photo package with the Cd, We did one excursion, martini tasting, a few adult drinks by the pool, 2 childrens smoothies with light up tinker bell, and then tips which add up! I always plan on 1000 in extras. I am pretty frugal but it is vacation!!

They let you take pictures with your own camera so if you don't need the fancy borders and you are pretty confident in your camera and picture taking ability you really don't need to buy the disk. I got caught up in the magic of our first cruise, and that was all I wanted. If you are going to buy the disk make sure you get your family in front of a camera as much as possible it's a better deal the more images you get, I wish I had known I might buy the disk from the beginning of the trip.

How come the photo package is so expensive? Is it worth it?

I went to shutters every night found the pictures taken that night and put them all behind the pictures from the first day so they don't get lost. On the last night I went through all the pictures and decided which ones I wanted. After I picked the one I wanted and calculated the cost it was cost effective to buy the package so I could have the cd. I was caught up in the magic and thought that the borders made the pictures extra magical. When I got home my personal pictures were just as good and the borders are not on the cd images so this time I am not planning on buying a package or many of the pictures, but I am still going to collect them in one place just in case.

Our family of four averages about $1000.00 we buy drinks/coffee popcorn for movies tastings PHOTOS the large package and updo for formal and tips. The last cruise we did our first excursion and spent extra money in the spa and total up to about 1500.00 it can add up fast. You are able to go to guest services as many times as you like to receive a print out of what you have spent.

In the booklet the sent out with your tags it shows you the tip rate for each crew member you are to tip and then you times each member by the number of people in your cabin.

When it comes to movies they have concession outside but my advice is to get some pizza sodas and other little snacks on the top deck and take them with you to the movie theater which we do almost nightly along with other people. You can leave your plates there on the floor they will take care of them for you. We do this so we save the money because i see people buying soda by the can when you can get all the soda you want for free in refillable cups upstairs.

Has anyone received their luggage tags yet? I'm asking because I saw friends of mine have received their tags for the Feb 25 Wonder cruise out of Miami. I guess we'll be getting ours soon as well (4 days?)

What are the luggage tags?

Colleen

It came in a 5 x 7 white envelope via mail.

It looks like a small notebook with a pouch inside along with other information specific to your party. In the pouch there are the luggage tags which are similar to the stickers/tags you get when you check your baggage at the airport.

I'm so disappointed, but we had to cancel this cruise and rescheduled for the April 26th 8 night sailing out of Galveston. I look forward to reading all of your trip reports once you return so I'll know what to expect! I hope you all have a great time. PS - I deleted myself from the FB group.

I saw that DCL is offering KSF on some of these later cruises, good luck and fair sailing.

Sorry you won't be with us...Did you have to pay a penalty to switch?

Getting closer to sail date! Is anyone aware of a TR from the same itinerary or any navigators posted?

I just want to make certain I'm reading the FE list correctly. For family gifts would we need a total of 24 (if not including self)?
