Magic - Feb 1, 2015 Western Caribbean (Key West)

Is it too late to sign up for fish extenders?

Cruise Meet threads are doing just fine still managing meet and FE discussions right here on the DIS as they have since FE began (also here on the DIS).

FE organizers generally need to know how many people (adults/children) are participating in each cabin with child ages for age appropriate gift giving. Other information you would like to share such as names, allergies, favorite characters, etc. is up to you. Other personal information is not really necessary. Those organizing FEs typically ask for the information to be posted in the meet thread or sent to them via PM.

For those posting in this Cruise Meet thread to join a FE, if no one comes forward to organize a FE for this cruise, anyone can organize the FE right in this thread.

Hi all--sorry to hound this board tonight, but doing some planning now that Christmas festivities are over :)

I have never done a Disney cruise before, and I have only cruised two other times before. This is my first time cruising with my almost 5 and 2 year old together, and I am having trouble finding family themed excursions/things to do. My older son is very comfortable with swimming, and wants to try snorkeling while we are on the cruise (he got a nice snorkel for Christmas)--are there places at Castaway Cay, where I can just take him into the water myself and snorkel? Obviously my 2 year old wouldn't be snorkeling with us, so I hate to pay for an excursion that we can't all participate on.

We are planning to just walk around and explore Key West on our own. My husband and I have been to Cozumel before, so have some experience with excursions there, but any advice about good and bad options in Grand Cayman and Castaway Cay?

Thanks--we are getting so excited about the cruise--can't believe how close it is!
Kathy
Castaway is a great place for early snorkelers to get practice. You can bring him by yourself but all members that are snorkeling MUST wear a flotation device that is provided . This really seems to help the little ones feel comfortable anyway and adults don't have to blow the device up on them, just have to wear it. There are even lifeguards watching which is another added advantage with the little ones. The farther you go out, the more you may see but don't expect too much sea life to be observed. Still, really fun for the little ones!

As far as Grand Cayman, my family and I usually just do a beach day. There are a lot to choose from, start with TripAdvisor and find the one that is best for you guys. We like the Royal Palms. Costs $4 per person to take a taxi there and then only $2 per person to get into the club. Umbrellas, chairs, cabanas are extra but umbrellas and chairs are reasonable. They have a bar and restaurant on site with great food. There is a pool but it is for adults only so that seems to be where the party goers hang out, it is very secluded. The beach and water is great for swimming, making sandcastles, or just relaxing on the white sands of 7 mile beach!

I wanted to see if I could get in a group. My kids are 11 and 13. We do not have a room assignment yet.

Thanks,
Lynn

Signed on to cruise months ago & just discovered this forum/APP & Fish Extenders. We (my husband & I, daughter & SIL, 8 yr old grand daughter & 11 yr old grandson) leave Feb 1st on the Magic from Port Canaveral. Is there any way for us to participate? :cool1:

Can we still join FE????
Hi again,
Hoping we can get to join a FE group, I bought materials/supplies to make our 2 Fish Extenders yesterday. ***If you think we should just use one for the grandkids, thats fine. I am just "over the moon" about making the FE to hang outside AND to decorate our adjoining doors. We're in cabin 7018 F (Nana & Grampa) & our kids & grandkids are in the adjoining cabin. I'm making matching FE's, w/names on the pockets. Today, I'll get supplies for gifts…15???
In case we don't get into a group, I'll just do some "pixie dusting" & hope someone will do the same for our grandkids. Even if they just get a few surprises it will be one more "Magical" part of this trip! (After all, it's fun to deliver the surprises too, so they will def enjoy this.)

Sorry no one has responded! I promise we don't mean to ignore you! Unfortunately, all fe groups are closed at this point, including the pixie dust group. We have also planned a group meet on the first day at 2 o'clock in O'Gills. Please come and meet up with our group!

DisneyDreamer2504,
Thanks for responding. I don't know how to make a "LINK", but will invite the 2 families ahead of me to join us in our own FE group. Hope to see you at 2pm in O'Gills.

Want to join 2 other families & do the FE???
Pat

KNovella,

If you haven't found anyone else, want to join a small group for Fish Extenders?
Pat

KNOVELLA

We have 2 grandkids: Jordan (11yr old boy) & Taylor (8 yr old girl)

:rotfl: Now that I've posted 8 times, I can "PM" both of you.
If you're willing to join up w/us, I'm happy to be able to add the Fish Extender experience to our MAGIC cruise on 2/1/15. Even if it's only a few kids, we can make it really special for them!

Hi,

My family would love to get in a group for the FE. I have 2 children. Shannon (11) and Patrick (13).

Thanks and Happy New Year!:goodvibes
Good Morning Lynn,
I'm really hoping you see one of my messages, so we can make our own FE. The others are closed, since it's so late. With your two (ages 11 & 13 & ours
grandkids, ages 8 & 11, it will be easy to do gifts. If KNovella joins us (ages 5 & 2)…even better!!!! I'm planning on more people for gifts, just in case someone else wants to join us. If not, I'll have a few more to put in various Fish Extenders as "Pixie Dusting". Once I hear from you &/or KNovella, we'll exchange basic info: cabin #'s, etc & agree on # of participants. This will be just one more great experience on the cruise for the kids. SO EXCITED!

Thank you for responding, ilovemykids1016,
If we don't hear from KNovella, we'll still proceed w/our kids. At least I can actually get gifts based on the things you tell me they're interested in. Any allergies? I already have a few things.
Pat

I haven't been on for some time. Just wanted to say hello to the newer members. As stated earlier - we have planned a Meet & Greet February 1 at 2 PM at O'Gills Pub. We ordered wrist bands for the group. If you would like them, they are $1 each and can be picked up from me at the Meet.

Those of you planning a late FE group - if you are comfortable sharing your cabin numbers here (or at the meet and greet) we will be able to Pixie Dust.

See you soon! -Ritapixiedust:

Hi Rita,
I made a cute FE, but my only other late FE family had to drop out, due to the blizzard in NE. I had already bought some things, so I planned on "Pixie Dusting" anyhow! At this point, I'll be the one putting things in my FE for my grandkids. If anyone would like to Pixie dust them, that would be awesome! So far, I've just made a FE for my daughter's family in the cabin next to ours. They are in 7016F. You'll see:
Mom, Dad, Taylor (8 yr old granddaughter) & Jordan (11 yr old grandson). Thank you so much for this wonderful idea to make our 1st cruise even more MAGICAL! Next time, we'll be able to join a group early & have already got some ideas.
Pat

To anyone who was on the 2/1/15 sailing of the Magic, we need a favor. Did anyone get photos or video during the Pirate Party, specifically the part where Captain Hook had "pirates" playing blow up guitars? Myself, my DH and the friend traveling with us were some of those "pirates" and would love to have some photos of our experience.

Thanks!
