Just realize that Magical Express does not go to Port Canaveral, it only goes between Orlando International Airport and Walt Disney World resorts, and is free. Disney Cruise Line buses provide transportation between Port Canaveral and Orlando International Airport or between Port Canaveral and Walt Disney World resorts, and cost $35 per person each way. Make sure that you do not get on Magical Express as it will not take you where you want to go.

Magical Express does not go to the port. If you mean DCL transfers @$35 per person the busses from
the resorts leave between 11:30AM to 1:30PM. You will get an instruction letter in your Disney resort
room the night before with your meeting time and luggage information..

That late that stinks ok.. thanks for the info

That have a finite number of buses and they are generally using the ones that transported people from the port to the resorts. Plus there is a smaller number of people coming from the resorts than say MCO, so it makes more sense to just do one pick-up from the resorts.

We actually took the DCL transfer from (and back to again afterwards) POR in 2009 for our Western Caribbean cruise on the Magic, so this info is somewhat dated. I believe the bus left ~ 12:30 PM. The good thing about leaving at that time is when we got to the port, we basically walked right on the ship.

Doesnt cabanas close at 1:30 though on the ship for lunch? Does enchanted garden stay open longer for lunch?

On embarkation day: Enchanted Garden will close about 2 pm, Cabanas will close about 3 pm, the quick serve places by the pool will close about 3:30 pm.

You can get to the port earlier if you want by taking Magical Express from WDW to the airport, and then DCL transfer from airport to port. That's what I did! You just choose a flight that leaves Orlando airport about 11:30 and list that with Disney so you'll leave WDW around 8:30, which is when you'd need to have your luggage ready anyway if doing the transfer from WDW, I believe. You'd then be on one of the first few transfers from the airport to the port leaving around 9:30 or so! I think it depends on whether you want to linger around your resort that last morning enjoying amenities there or if you're ready to get things started on your cruise.

On my last cruise, we were staying at POP and never got the information letter in our room. Did get a phone call to the room at about 7:45 saying they would be there at 8:00 to pick up our luggage. Another call at around 9:00 telling us were and when to meet the cruise rep. (main lobby, next to the gift shop)

We've never had an issue with resort to port and port to resort. It is $35 one way per person, but we've always found it easier and cheaper than renting a car (parking it at port) or doing a limo/van/car. Plus, they drive and we get to relax in the AC while watching Disney cartoons? Sold.

I just hope its an earlier pick up than 11:30 to 1:30

Earliest we've even been picked up was 10:30. Usual pickup has been 11:30-12:30. Several different resorts. The 10:30 one was a surprise to me as I had expected 11-11:30 and I hadn't quite been planning on that early but had luckily booked breakfast at 8:00 to be on the safe side. Never later than 12:30 scheduled pickup although once we were delayed for about 15 minutes on a 12:30 pickup.

I wouldn't expect to be picked up much before 11:30. On the plus side, when you get to the port, there are no lineups, you can walk right on and usually head right to your stateroom.

Even if you're picked up earlier, the earliest I've ever heard is 10:30 - and that's usually the 1st stop of at least 2 or 3 other stops. So it would just be more time on the bus.

As others have said, if you want to be there earlier for sure using DCL transportation, you'll need to get to MCO earlier (can be done via DME...just pick a random flight around 10:30 to hopefully be at MCO by 8:30) in order to do it - and not book the DCL transfers from WDW but from MCO.

You may want to price out private transportation if you have 4 or more people in your party. The price will be about the same and you can schedule your pick up time. Many of the companies will do a stop at a grocery store if you want to pick up wine or beer.
If you do this be sure to go onto the Disney website when your booking window opens and pick your Port Arrival Time.

Our recent trip (from All-Star resorts to MCO) we were told that we would be picked up no less than 3 hours prior to our flight. It seems they have sort "set" times they pick up and you get plugged into the one that is closest to that 3 hour time (but not less than it).

We were picked up at 7:20am for a 10:30am flight.

Right. But if it takes around 45 minutes to get there, that would put you at MCO around 8:30. I think anyway.

We left from the French Quarter at noon a few weeks back on double dip. We had one additional stop, for the life of me, I can't remember where-I think it was the Disney Swan. Bus was filled to the brim. We got to the port about 1:35pm. Short security wait and check in. Room was ready. Dropped bags and headed up for lunch by 2:15 in Cabanas. Still plenty of folks in there filtering in.
