I simply just can't understand why some people pack medications, toiletries, clothing they need for right after arrival, etc. in checked suitcases. THAT'S WHAT CARRY-ONS ARE FOR!!! What if the AIRLINE delays your luggage??? Airlines in the USA misdirect and delay 10,000 pieces of lugage EVERY DAY.
No matter where I fly, no matter when I fly, I ALWAYS pack for the first 24 hours in carry-ons. When we used DME in its first days last May, our luggage arrived about 3 hours after we did. I could not have cared less. When it "magically appeared" in our room we didn't know it because we were in the pool enjoying the start of our vacation. And let me assure you that we did NOT wear our bathing suits on the airplane!
Try it yourself. Put together a change of clothes, bathing suit, PJs, toiletries, etc. for one day. It takes up a surprisingly small amount of space, especially when we're talking clothing to be worn in warm weather such as in Florida.
