Magic Express Luggage Delivery - 7 hours?

I landed around 11:30am in October, my luggage was not delivered to BWV until after 7:00. My friend landed around 5:30, hers was not there by 10:00, she called and they said it was delivered! She said it's not here! Just then there was a knock at the door. Opened it and it was the guy from across the hall. Her bag was delivered to his room! The room # was written on the tag so that's how he knew. I'm going again early December, I most likely will pick my own up.

I have only used luggage delivery twice and both times my luggage arrived quickly, but both were early flights. The first trip (ASMo), my flight landed around 10 and I had my luggage, plus an unknown bag, by 11:30 am. They even came and got the unknown luggage within 20 minutes of my call.

The second time (POFQ), I arrived just before 9 am and my cousin around 9:30 am and we both got our luggage at the same time around 11:00 am.

I was a bit worried the second time since the first went so well. I know I will use the service again as long as my flight is before 4 pm. Anything after and I will get it myself since I will want to settle into the room by the time I get to the resort. I do tend to carry everything I need for the first 24 hours since that can fit in a large purse.

If your friend landed at 5:30, that means she probably got to her hotel around 7, and since you're supposed to get your luggage within 3-4 hours of arriving at your hotel (not when you land), she got hers within 3 hours (maybe 3 1/2, if she got to her hotel a little faster), right when she should have.

I read the OP's post and my wife said, "That's yours, isn't it?" Needless to say this closely mirrors our experience with DME luggage delivery on Dec 31, 2016 very closely. We arrived at the airport at 6:30 PM and got to the resort about 7:45 pm. After spending the evening having dinner and checking out the NYE celebrations at CBR, we headed off to our room. After the same kinds of phone calls as the OP described, our bags were finally delivered at 2:45 AM. Not a huge problem for us as we were on Mountain time, but really, 7 hours after we checked in? I really wish this was an isolated experience for us, but it was the same story on our mid-November 2015 trip with our party arriving on two different days (Sun and Wed). In the future I will be getting my own bags and bringing them to the bus with us. It will be way less hassle. The yellow tags will go into the "archive file" and we'll reminisce; "Remember how DME used to deliver your bags within 3 or 4 ours of your arrival?"

I would honestly expect it to take a long time during a major holiday.

I have used DME many many times and never had it take longer that expected to get my bags. No matter when they arrive it shouldn't be a hassle if you do as recommended and pack for the first 24 hours in your carry on bags. You never know what the airlines are doing with your luggage and it is more likely that they have messed something up than it is DME has. Pack for the first 24 in your carry on. Then the world is your oyster--you can go out or go to bed and when your luggage arrives won't matter.

Except she didn't get it...the guy across the hall did. Good thing the guy was honest!!

Here now. Flight landed at 4:30, got to our room, left for Disney Springs, returned by 9 and bags were in our room. That was the quickest we've received our bags.

Yes, that was my point, it went to the wrong room despite having the correct room # written on the tag.

I remember a thread like this from a couple of years ago and some people were saying taking your luggage slows DME for everyone else as at every stop there is the chaos of retrieving your luggage from under the bus. So I went determined not to be that guy had DME handle our luggage, arrived at CBR at 7, and after many calls finally got our luggage at around 12 AM, trying hard not to wake the little ones. I decided that in the future if I arrived at the resort after 5, I would be that guy who slows everyone else down. We arrive around 2PM on our next trip so I will probably let them handle the luggage, and try to remember to report how it went. :)

Did you not have what you needed with you in your carry on? If so, you can tell the desk to hold your luggage until you call down for it. That way you don't have to worry about anyone being disturbed by a late night knock on the door.
