Has anyone ever used the ME to return to MCO in order to pick up a rental car? We want to return to the airport because it is much cheaper than renting it at Alamo at the car care center. Do I need to make up a flight to get a ride or do I just tell them that I just need to be at the airport at a certain time. Thanks! We are staying the night before we leave at a WDW resort so I know I'm able to use it i just don't know how to arrange it.
Thanks!

I would just call and reserve ME by making up a flight. Keep in mind that you will be picked up 3 hours before your "flight time".

why not rent the car when you are at the airport and bypass ME altogether? that is what we are doing, since renting a car on WDW property is much more expensive than picking up at MCO.

Sounds like a LOT of trouble to rent a car...by the time you ride DME, get the car and drive back to WDW I am guessing you will have wasted close to 3 hours of your vacation day. Also remember you can only ride the DME back to the airport on the day you check out of your resort...so if you are not checking out the day you want to pick up the car they will not book DME for you.
Try looking at Dollar which is in the Grosvenor right across the street from the DTD marketplace bus stop. So you can ride the bus from your hotel to DTD and walk across the street(try using the oi1054 code for a decent rate) You can pick up there and drop off at the airport with no additional charge and you do not have to pay all of the MCO related charges on the rental. There is also a Hertz at Shades of Green.

You might also want to think about bidding for a car for your entire stay on Priceline... I was able to get a mid-size car for our entire 13 day trip via Priceline for about $40 more than I was paying for the cheapest 1 week rental I could find via conventional booking (which was from Dollar at the Grosvenor BTW)

The rental car dilema has been solved. I do agree with SB in KY that it is a lot of hassle. BTW it is the day we check out of the hotel. We were trying to save about $100 on the rental car. :) BUT now we have decided to just rent the car at MCO. :) We are only in Orlando for 2 days and then off to the beach!!
