Hi All,

We are booked for the October 13, 2007 cruise next year and I can't help but get this idea out of my head that we will be moved due to dry dock. With the Magic due to come back from Europe and it being the 'two year' mark since it's last dry dock. Maybe I'm over thinking. :rotfl:

Does anyone know if they block out the time if they are going into dry dock so noone books for that time?

Dont know if it's true, but 3 times recently I have read that the Magic wont be doing drydock again until 08. Which, if it's true will be the first time the ships havnt followed their every two year schedule for drydocks.

Maybe someone else will of heard the same thing and be able to verify this for you.

But i'm sure they wouldnt accept a booking if the ship was scheduled for drydock. Things like that are scheduled way in advance.

Personally I am quite surprised the Magic will not go into drydock in Fall of '07 after the Med. cruises and two years worth of probably full or near full capacity sailings. I know they do continual/on-going maintenance but I still would prefer it stay on its previous two year schedule. I have heard and read that it only has to go into drydock two times in five years and that it also has to do with the changing/replacing of the motors or something like that.

The lack of a drydock in Fall '07 is one of the reasons I may choose another cruise line in '08 as I am concerned what its condition will be in Winter/Spring '08.

When the ships are scheduled to go into drydock, you will notice that there will be a two week period you cannot make reservations. So, the answer to your question is that you don't have to worry about your cruise being cancelled because of drydock, unless they were to find something extremely out of the ordinary.

But, as Mom/Grandma said, I have heard that it will not go into drydock until 2008. Don't know if that is true or not, but that is one of the statements floating around out there.

You'd think that would be the case, unfortunately I've seen way too many posts here over the years from folks who have been bumped from their cruise dates due to dry dock or charter cruises that were NOT blocked out as far in advance as you'd think they would be.

I do think most of the bumps happened at around the year mark though (just not much fun even with a years' notice if you thought you had your honeymoon cruise all set) so hopefully you're good to go OP!

You'd also think that as the ships age dry dock would occur more frequently rather than less often... but who knows?

Magic is slated to undergo some major overhauls (engine I think) in 2008. That's why they put the drydock off for a year.

Hull inspection/drydock is scheduled to be done twice within a five year period. Early '08 would be right on schedule.

...Hey I just noticed I hit my 2k post...and it's on my favorite disboard!
