Magic Double-dip "SCOOP AWAY THE POUNDS"

Sherry...Good luck keeping on track!! My second wasn't a surprise, but she did come on her own!:) Lucky, lucky, lucky we were with both. Not sure I could have gone through all that again as long as I did for Adam.

Hope it was a good weekend, all. I know Peggy got to go to the spa, while I slaved away in the yard...:)

Carolyn

Thought I would stop by and see how everyone was doing.

Sherry, hang in there we can do it.

Hope everyone is doing well. I can not believe how much more energy I have and how I feel I move with ore ease. Yippy, I cannot wait to hit the big 2 0. Well it is downward from here.

I forgot to tell you that I have even planned for the pending delivery of my DGD. I have food stocked up in my fridge in my office so if she delivers at my hospital (fingers crossed) I will be set with meals and snacks. No excuse for falling off. How is that for determined.

Dee - thanks so much for posting that thread - talk about incentive... that woman and her dress were just gorgeous. She is a TRUE inspiration - and so are YOU - stocking up all that great stuff so you'll be a good girl.:flower3: These are for you.

I was up .4 in my weigh in - but I'm not in panic mode - because of the work-outs I can see my body changing - so the fat is melting, and the muscles are building - the clothes are more loose and that's the key - so I'm not going to get hung up by the numbers today. I think I might have been intaking a bit too much salt too and yesterday I didn't get enough water- but today is another day.

Sherry - hang in there - don't give up - drink your water and move a little more and you'll be just fine!

Carolyn - I'm sorry you worked so hard - now YOU deserve a spa day - hmmmm where? OH - yes COME TO ARIZONA with DH!!!!! Please, please oh do come!!! Even if you don't want the "full" treatment we could meet for pedi's! New fuschia toes????? You'll want to sport those new crocs!

:rolleyes1 :bounce: ok ladies - I couldn't go back to sleep - so I'll hit the gym and meet you in CHAT land tonight! Carolyn - your gonna join us right? We aren't that scary...

:stir:

Peggy you are an inspiration for me. I can not get myself motivated to work out. I do the walking, but I hate to sweat and do the cardio. My raquet ball partner is not as motivated as I am and once again looks like we will not be playing. Shame. I can not even go by myself as she has the membership to the country club. Not sure what to do now. I will come up with something though. Maybe I will put in the tape for my gympack and do the whole work out.

Dee...how good are you to stock up so you won't 'fall off the wagon'?? That's the way to do it! You'll feel better, too, during the whole delivery wait, without junk in you!!! (yeah...babies:))

Peggy...no, no, no...yard work is a good thing for me (not necessarily a pleasant thing). It's the best exercise I get!:) But, yes, a spa day would be a nice treat. You know, I've NEVER been to a spa, let alone had a pedicure. Not that I wouldn't like to, just always think of what I could do with the money for the kids. DH now thinks he may have to go to Chandler twice in the near future. He was thinking a day trip or over one night next week, but he has a Padre/Dodger game one night, Father/Daughter baton practice (they're performing at the fair in a week...such a good daddy!), and, we're all crossing our fingers and toes here, a high school graduation for his son. (He lived with us from the time he was 4 until about 6 months ago...we have a lot invested in this graduation!!) So, not really sure when he's going to make it. Of all that, he can NOT miss the graduation (if DS makes it...man, who cuts it this close?? I certainly didn't...it's driving me nuts!).

Keep at it, ladies...not looking good for me for weigh-in Thursday, but I'm hopeful I'll at least be the same as last week. I'm being philosophical about it. Besides, too busy to dwell this week!

Carolyn

Well I managed to go on two walks tonight. I power walked the grand dogs (great dane and german shepard) then took my DDIL hoping to induce her labor. I am still hot but feeling good. I even treated myself to DQ. It is the best 5pts. um yummy.

Hope to chat with some of you tonight.

Hey ladies! I must tell you - swimming doesn't even feel like a work-out - I too hate to sweat - which makes it easy because in the water you don't feel it. The first 10 minute seem like such a struggle although that's getting easier and then my mind kicks in and I think and think and before I know it my 30 minutes is up. That's all I do right now, except for the water aerobics class I took what - three times? But seriously, Dee - walking is The BEST exercise. My girlfriend Theresa walked and walked and basically did nothing else for years and she's maintained her weight (after her weight watchers loss from 82!) Yep, good skills can last a lifetime. I think most of us think we have to over do - and seriously it's consistancy that's the key. I'm sure of it.

Carolyn - (after I passed out from your notes about never having gone to the spa or even a pedicure) I realized, it was just 3 years ago that I too - had NEVER done it, and I don't have kids. Although all my money went to horsey things...so I guess it's the same. But one thing I learned and learned it well - YOU cannot be all you CAN be to your kids, your home, your hubby if you ARE not doing for YOU. Do you NOT watch Oprah??? :happytv: All the studies show that a happy MOM is a better Mom. So once in a blue, put your pennies away for a pedi. They can be pretty cheap. Cheap of course being relative. To me, 18 bucks (not counting tip) is cheap. But you live in So. Cal right? hmmm could be 25 there if you look for a good place.

Anyway, keep me posted about your DH's trips and we can negotiate! :)

Hope you all will be on chat - I'm here and I'm ready....

Hey ladies you girls have been really busy. I missed a few days and missed a ton!!
I look so foward to meeting all of you in person. When I read what each of you have said ..you are truely a group of AMAZING women. Thank you for all added sunshine to my life.
Dee you have been my inspriation from the start of this weight lose group. Keep up the good work. You are totally an amazing women. To already have your meals stored in the freezer WOW!!! I can't beleave the thread that womens picture made me cry! Thanks for sharing
Peggy Jo :grouphug: Thats for always making us feel so good. I can't wait to meet you in person so I can really give you a hug!
Carolyn
I totally get the I will spend the money on the kids mentality. Thats me in a nut shell. When I lived on Long Island my little sister use to make me go to this amazing spa. She would tell my DH that she needed x amount of $ because she was buying part of a spa day and he needed to pay for the rest ( great sis right) He always would because he is not the one who worries how the money gets spent its me!I keep promising myself that I will get a pedicure but DH works a lot and I have no one to watch Anglina so It has to wait . I have decided that I will use "special things" for my weight loss rewards. So when I hit 10 pds(hopefuly this week) I will have to figure out how to treat myself to that much deserved pedicure. Next 10 pounds will be another spa treatment.
Jackie
I hope when we are on the ship and take another picture together we will both look like the incredible shrinking women :goodvibes
If i missed anyone I am sorry keep up the great work girls!!!!!!

Dee...walking is GREAT! I love to walk! Don't now, it just does a number on my foot (podiatrist appointment tomorrow!) and I stopped a while back. When I was working and stressed and childless:), I would walk for almost an hour before work and, then, again, for an hour AFTER work just to calm down from the drama of the day. I agree with Peggy, consistency is the thing. I was in considerably better shape then.

Peggy...No, I don't watch Oprah!:) I like her, just don't watch daytime tv. We are at a point when spending 20-30 bucks on a pedicure wouldn't hurt the budget and I fully intend to try here soon, so I can have one right before we leave in November. Just need to get over this, "Ewwww, I don't want to catch a fungus!" issue I have:). How long will a good pedicure last, anyway? We're spending three days in WDW before the cruise...

Michelle...good luck making your ten this week!!!

O and D, everyone....Carolyn

Carolyn...I felt the same way about the fungus. I now watch them disinfect the tub and my spa gives you the file when they are done. My pedi will last the whole cruise.

Well I am getting ready to head to my WI and then I will post again.

Just a quick drive-by posting to say:

I'M DOWN TWO MORE POUNDS!! Yeah me! :cheer2:

I say there's nothing like a little success to help keep you on track. I can't tell you how I almost went for pizza Monday night....I mean, drove to the pizza parlor...thank the lord they're closed on Monday. Went to Chili's instead for a yummy Caribbean Salad, then to Peg's for a splash in the pool. Crisis averted through no effort of my own. Oh, well, maybe I'll give myself a little credit for making a good choice at Chilis ::yes::

OK....late for work....I'll be checking in later!

Okay, I am down 1.6 for a grand total of 18.0 2 more lbs and I will reach my first goal. Yahoo!

Congrat Jackie, way to go you big loser. I need to step up the exercise this week and see if that will povolt me to my goal.

Hey ladies- just wanted to pop in and say COGRATS to all the big losers this week! Way to go guys!

Had to share a little story with you...I was walking on my treadmill yesterday when my four year old son, Parker, came in and asked "Mommy, why do you walk on that thing everyday." To which I replied "Because Mommy is fat." and then he said "Awwww Mommy, you are not fat, you are just short!" :rotfl:

All this time I have been trying to lose weight when I should have been trying to grow taller- go figure! I thought that was so sweet and wanted to share!

Have a great week girls!

Awww, Sherry, how totally sweet! Kids are great. They don't see color or too much variation in size. I can't count the number of times DD has told me I'm pretty, while I'm wearing old shorts and a t-shirt. Gotta love them.
Thanks for sharing!!

As for you two, Jackie and Dee, WAY TO GO!!! I am so happy for you guys!!!

Jackie, there was something in the paper the other day about making healthy choices with pizza (which I personally avoid like the plague...impossible to just eat one slice, or two...). Don't remember the exact numbers, but two slices of that cheese stuffed pizza is over 800 calories!! I'm not a calorie counter, but that grossed me out. Their suggestions were to get very thin crust, no extra cheese, try chicken instead of the fatty meats, lotsa vegetables and maybe even 1/2 the cheese. (For me, though, the cheese is the big draw and my biggest nemesis!:) Thought it was interesting...

Carolyn

Sherry, that story just warmed my heart. What a little cutie your Parker is.

I invited another cruise over Tiggerdisney. her siggie shows she has lost 38lbs and wants to loss 57 more. I thought she would be great inspiration for us all here and maybe we can help her as well (as if she needs any with those numbers).

Well, I am off to go home and possibly mow the lawn. I thought I would surprise DH and get some excercise as well.

Congratulations Dee...WEIGH TO GO! :cool1: I changed your total on page one. Peg and Michelle, take a look at page one and let me know if I need to update your numbers. Anyone else want to report totals for page one tally?

Sherry, loved your story...aren't kids great. Peg has always said she's not over wieght, she's under tall. ::yes::

Keep up the good work ladies.

Dee, suggested that I drop in! Thanks Dee.

I am also on the Nov. 11th Double Dip Cruise...It is our first cruise and can't wait...

But I digress!

I have 95 pounds to lose for an optimum healthy weight where I could safely go up or down 5 lbs...I am doing the Michael Thurmond 6 Week Body Makeover (you just keep going until you hit goal). The basic idea of the plan is:
1. 100 ozs of water a day :drinking1
2. no salt, sugar, oils, butter
3. eat every 2.5 - 3 hours
4. eat a specific combination of protein, fruits, vegtables & starch for each meal

May was not a great month for me...life happens! So now I am feeling the time crunch of being at goal before the cruise...although the world will not stop spinning if I am not there! :thumbsup2

I think everyone here is a doing a great job...it is not easy to turn down all that great food that is out there but no so healthy....

Becky in NJ

Welcome, Becky!

Thanks for posting the plan info. I've been wondering just how much water is too much. Anyone know? I'm WAY over the 8 glasses/day, that's for sure. I'm not complaining, I feel good, but is there is any downside (well, except that it's a good thing we have bathrooms upstairs AND downstairs!:)?

Carolyn

Welcome Becky. How long have you been doing this? Your loss is noteworthy.

Your plan sounds great I may try to incororate it into mine. I drink in the excess of 130oz a day. I have decided that it is to much as my skin is getting paper thin. I think I will reset the number to 100.

Okay, I mowed the lawn and was still sweating 30 minutes after I finished. I just moved very quickly with the lawn mower and really felt like I got a good work out. I do wish our yeard was flat. :rotfl:
