Magic cruises Dover to Barcelona August 3-10, 2015

Hi all, we were on the Wonder this week and booked this cruise while onboard. It's our 3rd cruise (all Disney) but first time cruising Europe. My husband and daughter (almost 12 yo) have never been to Europe so we'll stay a few days before in London and a few days after in Barcelona.

I haven't read this whole thread yet so the info may be in it but how much will the bus be from London to Dover be? We will most likely be interested in riding the mobile DIS Meet

Welcome, Bus will cost £20 per seat (roughly $30) if you are interested PM me and I will add you to the list.

I think because we stop in Gibraltar we may not have to pay the VAT. Although Gibraltar is part of the EU they are exempt from EU VAT.

This means that UK VAT at the appropriate rate will be added to goods purchased in the shops and boutiques. Prices displayed in the gift shop are exclusive of UK VAT. The UK VAT charged will be identified on your receipt.

If your cruise takes in another port (such as St Peter Port or Gibraltar) then duty free items will be available and UK VAT will not be applied.

We did this same cruise in 2010 and loved Gibraltar. I had been as a teenager and looked forward to going again. We went on the cable car to the top of the rock and saw the apes, had a nice walk down the main street and finished off in the marina. Just be aware the cable car ride is not wheelchair friendly, I was lucky that my daughter was small so I just abandoned her chair and carried her. I would upload a photo from the top the the rock but I can never remember how to on here, will post to the facebook page instead x

Hi I'm Claire and this will be my and my Families 1st cruise ! I am very excited (its 1 in the morning and i have to be in work in 6 hours and haven't slept yet !) my Hubby Matt, sons Rhys who will be 11 and a half and Lex who will be seven have the most central inside state room that was left as I'm worried about being see sick !
I found this forum through pinterest and the fish extender posts I am also very excited about this and cant wait to start making mine and the gifts for everyone joining in I
If anyone is in the cabins next to or especialy below us I appologise now for any noise you hear Lex is Autistic and can be quiet loud thankfully he sleeps well on his medication so will only be loud in the day !
ok really should get to sleep or the kids will walk all over me tomorrow (I look after 20/28 2-3yr olds in a nursery)

P.S we are from England in fact we live very close to liverpool (its so close its where we go for a good night out, shopping and resturants)

Hi Claire2015! I totally get your excitement and not being able to sleep! I'm so excited too and it's still over a year away. I've been researching excursions and reading trip reports when I really should be sleeping!

My hubby told me today that he is fed up of hearing about it already (it was his suggestions as a holiday I'm still very worried about sea sickness) at this rate he wont want to go ! opps ! have prommised to calm down a bit (this is a bit of a white lie I will not be calming down I will just have to stop talking about it so much)

Also when does the person organising the coach from london need to know by ? We dont want to take our car to dover as we wont be flying to dover and are thinking it might be easier to train/bus it to london and make a weekend of it then get a train/bus to dover

Book seats with me by PM and i will add you to list, seats are filling up steadily and I am sure there will be a rush after holidays this year. Don't worry about sea sickness, I am not the best sailor and after many cruises I have never felt bad once...don't let it spoil your holiday.

I am very excited but also confused about FE does every group do them slightly differently ? Sone people seam to do one gift for the family and one for each person, some one for the family and some one for each person

Also tips ! We have been told we need to pay a set amount for tips (this is not done in England in fact if someone puts a tip on my bill I haven't asked them to I have it taken of as it really annoys me I should be able to decide how much tip I pay how ever I understand this is different in America) how does this work ? who are these shared between ? So for example does the person who brings room service get part of it ? Or the bar man ? Ect ? Do I need to have some cash to give to people who don't get part of the pre paid tips ?

I've found in the past that Fish Extender gifts vary between individuals, not neccesarily between groups. It's really what YOU want to do. Some people will do 1 gift per cabin, some will do 1 gift per cabin AND maybe something for each child in the cabin and some will do individual gifts for each person in the cabin. Our family has normally done one per cabin.
