Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) **** PART III ****

This may seem really forward but would someone who is staying at the Radisson be willing to drive me to a grocery store so I can pick up some water, juice boxes, etc? I can give you money for gas! I would love to go on the 17th during the day if anyone is going to be around.

I've tried looking and it doesn't seem like there is anything within walking distance except the adult "fun"store. :lmao:

Thanks!

Hi Everyone! Wow the board has been busy! We are officially leaving our house in 16 days! :dance3: So exciting! We managed to get some Black Friday shopping done and the decorations up since our 3 year old insisted it had to get done for Santa since he would be visiting here too while we were gone. :santa:

We found the cutest Princess Dress for our daughter too.....Walmart has a TON of Tangled stuff and the purple dress is so darn cute! We are all very excited that it looks like it is one of the movies playing on the ship! popcorn::

@ LeiLani Glad that you guys all made it to your destinations safely. Thanks so much for the packing cheat sheets you gave me....they have been a great help over the past few days! We are looking forward to seeing you guys again. Tsyenna asks me at least once a day if Brittany and Alyssa are going to be on "Mickeys Boat"! :lovestruc She definitely was very taken with them!

Is anyone else staying at the Residence Inn? I know alot of people have mentioned the Hyatt and Comfort Inn and Suites. We were going to stay at one of those but we are Silver Elite Members at the Marriott after a very lenghty stay after the birth of our son earlier in the year so we decided to stick with them to continue to get points. We will be there the 16th and 17th if anyone is staying there and interested in meeting up. We may head over to one of the DIS meets too if thats possible. I do have a question to throw out there though...."Does anyone have any experience with the hotel shuttle services where infants are concerned"? Do they make you provide a car seat or will they allow the infant to travel in your arms for the short distance? We really don't want to drag around our carseat with us since we will already have a stroller to drag around.... I was also thinking about hiring private transportation but if there are enough good experiences with the shuttle then we may not.

Also has anyone done the beach excursions in Barbadoes or St. Maarten? We have those booked but are now thinking about just doing our own exploring around port. Are they worth it? Any recommendations are greatly appreciated! I also read on the main cruise board that there may have to be ships over the next few weeks (busy with holidays) that may have to tender in St. Thomas....does anyone have experience with this. We wanted to go shopping and exploring there but wondered how difficult tendering would be with a stroller and small kids? I don't know for sure that Disney is one of these ships...I guess it just depends on how many ships are in port that day. :headache:

Are you talking about Orlando or Port Canaveral? If you're at the port on the 17th, you can tag along with me! We're at the Country Inn & Suites, but I think it's only a couple of miles from the Radisson. I'm definitely going to need to make a grocery trip for snacks and drinks! We'll have hubby's truck plus my mom/sister's rental car, so between us we should be able to work out a shopping excursion.

8 days to go!!! Am so excited im waking up early each morning. Going shopping today to finish getting my last minute things, and then going to book opticians and hair appointment for boys, vet for dog and docs for me. I love the last week or so before we leave.

I got a 13 file expandable folder yesterday to start the organizing of excusrions, language sheets, pre-trip hotel ressies, etc, etc. So stinking EXCITED!

Hi Christie - I'm glad the packing sheets have been helpful. I some of it is just information, but some things you might never think of. Tsyenna is so cute. I know that both Brittany and Alyssa can't wait to see her and Brady again.

Eve - it is actually something that I downloaded from the main cruise boards. It is an excel spreadsheet and I have no idea how to post it here but
if you want to email me at LNaylor863@aol.com I can email it to you. I think I have another packing list somewhere but I'll have to hunt that one up.

Here is the link for the thread I downloaded it from.

I believe we have used the shuttle service either at the Rad or CI&S to take us to a nearby store. I know it was slow at the hotel at that time. If you are using private transportation to get there, they normally include a 15 min. grocery store stop.

Eve(or anyone else) - here is another link to an Ultimate packing list from Mousesavers. I downloaded this one a couple of years ago and then split it up into two lists - one for WDW and one for DCL. It has a lot of stuff on it so I think it is best to go through it and weed out what you don't need.

We'll have a rental car, so if you want to meet up with me in the lobby at 6:30, hit the grocery store together than back to the hotel for our 7pm drink date?

hi there, question for Disney Cruise veterans....I'm debating whether to bring my own hair dryer because usually the ones provided in hotels suck - ie/low blowing settings and small, taking forever to dry my hair.

How are the hair dryers on the Magic?

This is an updated list. Please let me know if you aren't on here. Also, I believe we are meeting before the 5K but I'm not sure where. Anyone have an idea? QUOTE]

I think ColKath suggested the below...sound like a plan??
Does everyone want to meet just before say 20 mins before main lobby by christmas tree so we can arrive together.

How are the hair dryers on the Magic?

They are okay if you have short to medium-lenth hair for drying. I found them impossible for styling. The nozzle gets very hot and there's no adjustment to the temperature. If you just need to blowdry and go, fine, otherwise consider bringing your own.

She is 8, almost 9  It made me feel so happy when she was happy. I feel blessed that DH and I can do this for her.

In regards to the CC 5K, my DD is in a girls running program at her school and might enjoy the 5K. Is it possible to walk it? I think I could handle that!

I can also ask my DD9 if she would like to do it with me. She plays soccer and is running all the time, she might like to have someone younger to run with since mom can't keep up with her.:yay:

If you want your hair to get 'dry' :scared1:bring your own hair dryer! The ones on the ship are not good enough for thick hair.
