Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) **** PART III ****

Good morning!

Just wondered what everyone is doing in terms of getting euros for the trip?

I think I read many pages back someone saying that you could get them onboard. Can anyone confirm this?

If you are getting them before you go, where are you getting them? When I asked at my bank's branch they were not sure they could do this (though they had a looping video display saying they could!!!). I didn't have time to wait for the customer service person to ask more details. I guess I should go back and look into it again.

Kimberly

Hi there, ATM in-country is usually best rate, but if you are like me and prefer not to use my bank card abroad, I'd recommend you go to a currency exchange office. Are you in the US? The last time I was in the US I saw a Travelex office that posted competitive rates...you can go to www.travelex.com/us/locations to find one near you, there are many all over the States. I hope this helps!

FYI All, I'm may be organizing another type of group beverage tasting. I can hopefully follow through tomorrow. (I had a sick child today):drinking1

We'd be interested in joining another tasting if you have room for 2 more! We love social bevvies :drinking1

I've updated the FE list with our information. It's fun being in the Special Pond with Steve and family!!

Someone asked about a French Phrase sheet. I was going to work on that in the next couple of days. As soon as I am done I would be more than happy to email or PM it to you. I am making it mostly for Martinique as that is where I will be off on my own helping the local economy. :rotfl2:

As for the CC 5K I say the more the better! I am slow as molasses but I'm doing it. I think it would be a really cool way to see the island before everyone else gets off the boat.

:cool1: Getting so excited!
Tink&Cinderella were able to get word back to me they are still fishy ;) the cabin is # 2635 and the Google doc has been updated.
I would be interested in a martini tasting as well, if that works out!

Also have decided to do the CC5K. Am SO not a runner (had to give it up for safety reason, my thighs rubbing together was catching the spandex on fire :lmao:) but hope to jog most of it...or at least walk really fast :rotfl2: I love the back of the pack idea:thumbsup2 Maybe I will hunt around for a graphic later

Now if I could only find a dress for formal night! For some reason I don't see a shop online called "Short & Squatty Formals" :confused3:rotfl:

OK ok enough playing better get some chores done while I can just a 1/2 day at school today for DS:yay:

Yay! Another "Back of the Pack" member! This is going to be blast!

Good heavens, I'm giving in to peer pressure and actually thinking about this and I'm the furtherest thing from a runner you could ever wanna meet (there are things even sports bras weren't meant to handle) but I can't find info on it.
Is this considered an excursion?

Off to my iPhone and the Couch to 5K running app that's been installed and never done.....

DO IT! DO IT! DO IT!! Come on!! It's only like 3.1 miles. You can walk that in an hour. If you are with the rest of the "Back of the Pack" crew you don't need to worry about being a great runner. We are the 5K misfits. :rotfl:

The nice thing about living overseas is that the girls actually have school tomorrow!!!! And DH has decided he's going to go play golf - so I get the house all to myself!!! Should be productive and get through the rest of the FE gifts...:rolleyes1

When the kids get home, we are heading over to a friend's house for Thanksgiving dinner. I have to bring a smoked turkey (currently defrosting) and green bean cassarole. My kind of Thanksgiving!!!!

Looks like HP7 will be opening here on Friday - we have friends trying to get us tickets to take the girls. Crazy thing about the movie theater here is that the actual showtimes for the movies are never what is printed in the paper or available online (when the website is actually up) - so you have to call. The trick is to call when someone might actually answer the phone. And of course, they only answer the phone when the theater is actually open showing movies, which are not showing at the times they've advertised. It's a vicious circle that I just can't cope with, so hopefully our friend will be successful with tickets...:worship:

Hi everyone!

There seems to be a lot of interest in the CC 5K from people like me who run slow or may need to walk parts of it. I've come up with a name for our little group - "The Back of the Pack Crew". :cool1:

If you want to run, walk, or crawl and have loads of laughs at 830 in the morning send me a PM and I will get a list going.

Tinkmischief said if she had the time she would try and find a graphic for us. Maybe we can try and come up with a shirt or bandana or something we can all wear during our 5k.

I'm SO proud of everyone who is going to do this!!!

Join us for the 5k! It will be great, while I have done a few 5k's, I think us running together is such a fun idea! Plus im a fitness instructor and first aid qualified so no worries :lmao:
Plus I heard you get a certificate and a water bottle, if that doesnt tempt you how about being a member of our back of the pack team AND a DOTD to look forward to after?
Colette

Got it Colette!

Can we personalize the Christmas Dis t-shirts that are on Zazzle? We are going to be the greatest 5k team Disney has ever seen! :)

Quick question:

Does anyone know this man? His name is Simon and he was the head waiter for the Disney Magic back in 2005. He was originally from London. Any help would be greately appreciated.

Well, it's official.....my R&R leave was approved! :cool1:

I'm so excited!

Thanks to everyone for all the talk about shopping in Martinique....really got me thinking....so I changed our excursion from afternoon to morning. I certainly can't disappoint DD, as she LOVES trains, but I need to get all the shopping in that I can. Any ideas for the afternoon?

Of course, now I need to focus on what I'm going to wear! We'll be spending the 15th-17th in Orlando. Does anyone have any recommendations for where to shop (especially for a formal dress) or a good salon?

Counting down the days.....:cloud9:

Anyone recall what page (I think of Thread II) had the Dis'rs excursions list? I can't seem to find it.

I am rethinking Guadeloupe, Martinique and maybe Barbados excursions. What is everyone doing, particularly on Martinique and Guadeloupe? We have a DD9 that will join us (since we are ditching her in St. Maarten and St. Thomas)...

TIA.

OK, I may be confused, but I think what Michelle found out is the stores on Martinique will close at noon or 1pm b.c of Christmas Eve, so you'd want an afternoon excursion if you want to shop on Martinique until the shops close. We are now set to do the little train excursion in the afternoon. I just realized it invoves a long bus ride at the end, tho, so I'm not as excited even tho I really really want to see St. Pierre.

Hi everyone,
Wow! I really can't keep up with all that's happening on here! I leave in one week for Florida and my family leaves the next week. I have to start packing (for 4) and can't get to it yet! I did pull out the suitcases, but that's it so far. I'm really becoming overwhelmed :scared1:

I just sent a pm to mdargen so I can join the "Back of the Pack" group. Sure sounds like fun!

Can someone tell me how my DD can join the regular CC5K? She's 15 and on the cross country team in school, so she wants to run with the "Front of the Pack" group.

We're going to the DIS meet on the first sea day, and I am going to do the ornament exchange, we opted out of the FE exchange, and couldn't make the wine tasting (it's our spa day), and I am now joining the "back of the Pack" group. If there is anything that I am missing, could someone please let me know?

Can't wait to meet everyone!

When you find that store, please let me know :) Bad enough I have to shop for swimsuits at swimsuitsjustforus.com. Just for us being the, uh, chesty amongst us.

Men, cover your mickey ears as I have some advice for the ladies :cutie:...

My dress and bathing suit savior is www.spanx.com. They have some wonderful undergarments that help make any dress look great by keeping things, um...firm...shall we say. And the bathing suit I bought, though a bit expensive, fits like a glove.:smooth:

Ok, sign me up for the CC5K! I don't know whether I'll be running or walking...I haven't run for a while, so I can't say for sure what the result will be. Over the last few years I have run a couple 10K races, and a couple of 1/2 marathons, but when I went to train for a full marathon I found my limit is exactly 22km and no more. And like an idiot, unfortunately, I tried to go further than that and messed up my knee so haven't run since last summer. So, I could be at a reasonable run for the CC5K, or I could be a slow limp.
