Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) **** PART III ****

LOL....thought the train ride involved shopping! Guess not. Now we're back to our original plan of Bat Cave snorkel in the morning and St Pierre train ride in the afternoon. Should be a great time!

Wish I could find the motivation to do the 5K, but I have to be honest....I've made a vow that after a year in combat boots, the only things that will be on my feet this vacation will be sandals, heels, and fins! No running (or even walking) shoes for me!

Ok, sign me up for the CC5K! I don't know whether I'll be running or walking...I haven't run for a while, so I can't say for sure what the result will be. Over the last few years I have run a couple 10K races, and a couple of 1/2 marathons, but when I went to train for a full marathon I found my limit is exactly 22km and no more. And like an idiot, unfortunately, I tried to go further than that and messed up my knee so haven't run since last summer. So, I could be at a reasonable run for the CC5K, or I could be a slow limp.

Hooray! I am really excited about this now.:dance3:
Sounds like you achieved alot. Well done. You will prob find that you improve fast. But dont push too hard if you have an old injury none of us are planning a 5k sprint. I think its best to either go with the slowest person or if anyone wants to go on thats fine too. The goal is to finish whatever the pace and enjoying the achievement.

Got word this morning that the shuttle launch has slipped yet again. The new launch date is no earlier than Dec. 17th, and since we will be on CC that day, hubby is OFF the work schedule :yay: Stress level has been reduced by 100% :) The bad part is, we will now have to pick up the tab for our over-weight luggage, since all our cruise clothes aren't going to FL on a business trip .... nuts.

For those planning to run/ walk the 5k on CC be sure to check the thread on the forum. I understand that the runners are off the ship first, and there may be a conflict with when the clubs open for kids. In other words, if both adults are running who is with the children? The counselors have to set up on CC so the Club/ Lab might be closed.

Oh that's so cool! I've always wanted to see a Shuttle launch!! :woohoo: :goodvibes

Me too -- and I'm embarrassed to say I lived in Miami for three years (early 90's) and never saw a shuttle launch, the Daytona 500 or went to WDW. What was I thinking???

Well...a lot about Key West and Naples, but...darn it!!!

I would be honored to be among the Back of the Pack. :grouphug:

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee (this is a message from my cat, Bean)

Sorry about the luggage kerfuffle, Kitster. :sad1: Slightly excited there is at least a chance to see a shuttle launch, though popcorn::

Cleaning, cooking, more cleaning. Baking and some cleaning to follow.

Hi everyone!

I just back from making all of my Thanksgiving deliveries so I haven't had a chance to get caught up on PM's or other messages. I need to get some pumpkin bars in the oven and then I will be back.

I did see a few questions I can answer about the 5K.

* It is free.
* You are the first off the boat.
* There is no official "Back of the Pack" through Disney. So if you or your kids can run faster go for it! I saw someone's DD is on cross-country she can run her own pace and will probably pass the BOTP team twice. :rotfl:

I know Penny has done the CC 5K so she may have better answer than me. I've never run a 5k in my life but I thought this would be a fun way to do my 1st. Don't be intimidated. It is open to all levels. It isn't about how you finish but that you do finish!

Okay, have to go bake some more!!

You deserve to take it easy!

The shops on Martinique close around 1 so people can go to lunch, do errands, etc. Also because it is Christmas eve they will probably stay closed. The restaurants, cafes, and grocery stores should all still be open. From what I have read Martinique is the place to be for Christmas as the island really goes all out in celebrating.

Because there is nothing else I should be doing...baking, cooking, cleaning, etc. :lmao:

Instead I've been messing around over on Zazzle. I came up with these -

We can mess around with the font. I thought they were pretty cute though! I think they are 18.00 dollars for this design.

The model totally looks like he had a few DOTD! :rotfl2:

If any one is still looking for a custom FE go to Stitches N' Bows on Etsy....she makes the cutest FE's and can get them to you before we leave....

LOVE it!!!
Is it doable on a tank? Gonna be awfully steamy for covered shoulder! :)

P.S. I haven't done the CC5K yet....done another 5k...only attempted CC5K. Couldn't due to bad weather. Looking forward to running first time with the DISers!

Thanks Penny! I think you can make it into a tank top. I'm not sure how we make it available for people to get one. I'm new to zazzle so I will keep looking around.

So wait, we have to wear shoes for this? Do you think flip flops are acceptable?

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to everyone who is celebrating the holiday! This week has been busy but we are totally ready to sit back and relax for the long week-end! :hippie:

Tonight my husband, kids and I had the pleasure of meeting LeiLani, her daughters and family friend. It was an honor...What a great bunch! If this is any indication of the people we are going to meet on this cruise then we are in for a wonderful treat! Our daughter absolutely fell in love with the girls and has been talking about seeing them again ever since we left Margarittaville! :cheer2: Needless to say we are even more excited about the trip now!

@DisneyDash I sent you a PM earlier but it was from my Droid so I am not sure if it went through. We added you guys to our FE list....I got a good chuckle out of your kid's reaction to you not thinking they would enjoy doing it!

I saw the post about the possibility of seeing the shuttle launch...how cool would that be!!!!!!!!! :yay: We will be getting there on the 16th so hopefully fingers crossed we can get to see it! Talk about a once in a lifetime experience!!!!! :cool1:

Once again we hope everyone has a great Holiday!

Well, it's official.....my R&R leave was approved! :cool1:

I'm so excited!

Thanks to everyone for all the talk about shopping in Martinique....really got me thinking....so I changed our excursion from afternoon to morning. I certainly can't disappoint DD, as she LOVES trains, but I need to get all the shopping in that I can. Any ideas for the afternoon?

Of course, now I need to focus on what I'm going to wear! We'll be spending the 15th-17th in Orlando. Does anyone have any recommendations for where to shop (especially for a formal dress) or a good salon?

Counting down the days.....:cloud9:

It's always pins & needles to get those R&R orders! Got mine a few weeks ago and am giving back as the only person in the office tomorrow. :headache:

I think everyone's right you'll want to do your excursion in the afternoon and shop in the morning in Martinique.

There are outlet stores very near WDW world. I went there last summer when I broke my sunglasses and forgot my swimsuit. It's a huge outlet mall and they've got all sorts of namebrand stores. I'm sure you could find something there for a reasonable price. I love the swimsuit I got - still fits and covers all those icky wobbly places!

The only salon I know in Orlando about is Bibbidy, Bobbity Bootique and somehow I'm thinking that you want a look slightly older than the 7 year old princesses or 9 year old Hanna Montanas. :confused3 I'm sure someone else can point you in a better direction. :thumbsup2

Does anyone know how long the 5K lasts - particularly if you are at the back of the "back of the pack club"??? I'm taking DDs to swim with the Manta Rays at 10:30....

A shuttle launch would be really cool! But better reconfirm your hotel ressies if you are staying near the port on Dec. 17th. And plan for three hours to get there. :scared1:

We're staying at CI&S on the 17th, so will have DH call and make sure our ressies are still okay. The last cruise we did, the shuttle launched the day before the cruise and we couldn't get a hotel room anywhere near the port that night and folks said the traffic was INSANE!!!! We saw the contrail from Epcot instead.

It lasts as long as it takes you to do it. You should be able to walk a 5K in about an hour. So if we run as much as we can, walk quickly, and then crawl to the bar I am guessing we would be done by about 945-1000.

Anyone know if the main fe list us updated . I'm traveling and i'm afraid i'll miss someone if they're not on the main list .

Also did someone mention a private group martini tasting? Dh and i are interested...

We'd be interested in joining another tasting if you have room for 2 more! We love social bevvies :drinking1

Hi, still waiting to here back from DCL on another tasting. It sounds like our cruise is VERY full, she is trying to see if there is a space and time open. I don't drink wine, so I thought I'd try to open up another drinking opportunity.:drinking1:

Any more word on our cruise director? I was hoping for Christian. I hope my favorite server will still be on the Magic. No one on the boards seems to know "Mo"

Folks, this is a NIGHT LAUNCH and Discovery will light up the night sky if she goes up. You should be able to see the contrail from Miami to New York, if the weather is clear.

For those of you staying at CI&S, there are prime viewing locations not 5 minutes from the hotel. Of course, if you walk out the front entrance to the hotel and look North-East, you should be able to see the launch once she clears the pad. Of course the sound will be about 45 seconds behind the light.

All of this leads me to my next question.......how many people ARE staying the the Country Inns and Suites the night before the cruise AND are you going to be having any kind of DIS meet beforehand? Inquiring minds want to know.
