Magic Christmas Cruise 2010 (Dec 18th - 29th) **** PART III ****

I'm also up for any kind of tasting.

I travel to Europe at least once a year and the best way to get euros for there is just use your ATM once you are there. You should also be able to use your cc and the cc companies generally give you a fair exchange rate although there may be a slight exchange fee.

Not sure about the islands b-c I've read some things about one dollar for one euro?? That is certainly not the official
Exchange rate, unfortunately! The dollar has weakened to the euro quite a bit in the past several months so if we could get 1
For 1...hooray....but I doubt it. So I am planning to just get euros there or use a cc.

24 days til vaca...

When I get off the airport monorail and see this tree... Im like

Leilani, my parents said that they talked to you and are hoping to get to meet you before they come up to our house. Did you go to Thomas' Donut shop yet? I hope they are open this week! The long john is the best! And then there's the blueberry cake donut, and devil's food too! I worked there as a teenager (and the place is still standing!). Have a great week at the beach!

Camie

Hi Camie,

Yes, I did talk to your parents yesterday. Your mom was busy so I had a nice conversation with your dad. Hopefully we will have a chance to meet. Have not made it to Thomas' Donut shop yet, have to get out one morning and do that. Right now I'm waiting on the fog to lift so my daughter can get on her flight from Atlanta to Panama City Beach. It was great talking to you on Saturday and can't wait to meet you guys!

Michelle,

I've added you guys to my FE list! I have extras anyway just in case we had some people join the cruise after the FE cutoff date.

jgura- I believe those Mickey ends are antenna toppers for the car. I made our FE this year and bought two matching ones on-line. Then I carved a slightly bigger hole in them and put them on the ends of the stick. :thumbsup2 Hope that helps!

mdargen- We will have extra FE gifts also. Looking forward to including you on our list!:santa:

12 degrees here today. :scared1: I am unable to think about anything but Caribbean now! Can't wait. 23 days for us and counting down.

Awwww, you are so nice! We are in cabin #2072. She really does love her villains. She even has a stuffed Malecifent doll who travels everywhere with us. According to Agnes Malecifent is looking forward to going on a cruise. LOL

Here are a couple of photos I snapped of the Evil Princess dress. It has 3 different skirts, 2 sets of poofy removable sleeves, and the coolest cloak ever.

You should be able to see my bakery page without signing up for an account. It took me awhile to get on Facebook but now I am hooked. It is a great way to keep up with friends and family back in Denver.

Your DD is darling. She makes a fabulous Malecifent. I like the costumes! She needs to dress up for the evening of the villains' show.

saw on the news this evening that Vancouver had 10cm of snow, so you must have the same system! I guess the bright side is you don't live in AB where they are battling -30 C weather (-22 F) and soon we will all be fondly thinking of those at home while we visit glorious Caribbean islands! :woohoo::yay::rotfl:

I am dreaming of those warm Caribbean nights while I am freezing in Las Vegas. Today's temperature in Sin City is 42! This SoCal girl is trying to stay warm:-)

Lei Lani, what did you think about DWTS last night?

Lori, thanks for the list of movies.

I am looking forward to this cruise. I am enjoying this time of anticipation and excitement:-)

Does anybody know who our cruise director will be?

Thanks again for letting me join the FE party late! You are guys rock!!

Everything I've been reading about Martinique has said they really do prefer if you can use Euros instead of Dollars. Although with larger, more expensive items you can most definitely use a credit card. You may even get a better deal if you use Euros or credit cards. The other thing I've read is people don't like Martinique because no one speaks English. I find that really ridiculous. We are going to a different country (it is considered a province of France) so it doesn't hurt to try and learn a few phrases in French. My French is horrible but I've learned through traveling people really appreciate when you make the effort. I'm thinking about making up a phrase sheet to take with me. If anyone else is interested I can make one up and share it will you. :goodvibes

We got our euros through our bank. If we need more we will hit up an ATM.

You should be able to use euros on St. Martin/Maarten, Guadalupe, and Martinique. We are doing an all day excursion on Guadalupe so I didn't get any currency for that day. Although I will have a few smaller euro bills to give as tips.

I fully intend on shopping my booty off while there. LOL Supposedly Fort-de-France is like a mini-Paris. CAN'T WAIT!! If any of you want to wander around with my family that would be awesome! We are going to hit up the boutiques on Rue Victor Hugo, eat some amazing food, and then go to the giant grocery store with the wine wall to get some bubbly to bring back on the ship!

THANK YOU SO MUCH for the reminder about having smaller euros for tips on excursions....we have felt bad when we realized we didn't remember to do that, and we would have forgotten this time! We were just planning to use cc as needed for any purchases, but hadn't thought about the tour providers' tips. THANKS! It is going on the ever growing reminder list!!!! :)

BTW....which island is the Fort-de-France/Rue Victor Hugo on? I know I could look it up, but..... :)

Penny,

Fort-de-France is on Martinique. It is the capital and where we will dock. It is about a 15 minute walk into town or you can get a taxi for pretty cheap. We will probably get a van to take us into town so my mom doesn't have to walk as much...oh, and I will be making walk. We will be there on Christmas eve. It is going to be AMAZING!

64 is the official number (also found on the bottom of the google doc.) 65 when we add in mdargen:)

No problem adding in one more for us--we bought extra just in case!

DH's first language is French! If anyone is planning on doing something on their own and can only find websites in French, let me know. I know there is google translate but if we (meaning him lol) can confim any of the "French" details let us know. He was able to help a few people out on our Med cruise.

Awesome! I may take you up on that! I've been looking at a few French sites. I get the idea of what they are talking about but most of it is over my head.

Leilani, when you talk to my Dad you can talk about DWTS, he LOVES that show. It drives my DH crazy! When we go camping, my Dad want to watch DWTS and DH is doing his best to find anything sports related.

I feel like I have hijacked our board. I'm just so bloody excited and I feel bad talking to my friends about it 24/7. I had one person ask me not to talk to her about our trip because she was so jealous she was getting resentful. Hey at least she was honest.

First, I have a couple of ideas for FE gifts but I not sure about FE etiquette. How many gifts do we leave for each cabin? Do we put our names on the gifts or do we do anonymously? I saw the FE map but do we have a list with names and cabin numbers?

Second, I've definitely decided to do the Castaway Cay 5K. I'm an extremely slow runner and have to walk some of it. I've been trying to run a full 5k for years but I'm not much a of runner. Is there a time limit? I know I will be the last to make it to the finish line but I want this to be my first official 5k! I just hope no one laughs at my running style. It can make my husband get hysterical. :rotfl2:

If you look at the thread posted earlier, I get the feeling that it is thoroughly come-one-come-all in terms of skill levels. I am hoping to jog it all, but am admittedly not in the shape I'd like to be for it. I won't be breaking any land speed records! :rotfl: I'm just excited to be able to say I ran the CC5K! Won't mean anything to anyone around here (home) but I'LL know! :)
Looking forward to running "with" you! :yay:
